Well, this is just great…

Actually, I’m being sarcastic. It’s NOT great because I have no internet this evening. I am writing this on my phone.
Just ask Rebecca to fix it??? She’s already in bed. Ugh! The lights on my satellite modem aren’t flashing and my router lights aren’t on at all. This is when I could “really” use a computer class. I don’t have a clue how to fix it. Maybe if Rebecca has enough time before she goes to work in the morning, she can see if she knows what’s wrong.

We went to a Chinese New Year’s Celebration Saturday evening and I was going to tell you about it, along with a few pictures I took.
Susette sent me some Chinese New Year’s pictures too, and I was going to share them as well.

So let’s see, what can I ask you today, just to keep some chatter going? I’ll be back to sewing soon…

I’ve got it…Are you watching the Olympics, and if you are, what is your favorite event?

See you tomorrow, (hopefully)
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. This gives you a little more time before you can show off your kitchen pictures. And I for one am hoping for some inspirational beadboard pictures.
But on to the Olympics. Though I’ve seen very little of this year’s Olympics, my favorite to watch is always figure skating. There have also been some remarkable stills from various sports, and to see some of the motion stopped is pretty amazing.
Good luck on the computer tomorrow. It’s so nice that you have a repair team in the family.

  2. Double check that a cord hasn’t pulled loose or that your surge protector wasn’t accidentally turned off. I have a dog who hides under my desk when there’s a loud noise and he’s turned my computer off accidently.

How frustrating!! My internet is thru the phone co., so I couldn’t begin to tell you what to do about satellite stuff. Hope it’s up and running soon!!

My favorite Olympic sport is figure skating. Doesn’t matter if it’s men’s, women’s, pairs or ice dancing. I love them all!

I also rather enjoy watching the luge. OF course, I would NEVER get on a sled that went that fast, but it’s fun to watch!!

  4. I am not a sports person so the Olympics are not interesting to me and I rarely watch television as it is. I don’t have cable and wouldn’t watch on the computer. But I do understand people loving them.

Well computers are my thing. Turn off the computer, turn off the modem, unplug both of these from the surge protector and from where you have those plugged into the wall outlet.. Plug the computer back in and turn on. Now depending on what brand router you have there should be a tiny hole on the back. Take a paper clip or toothpick and press down the very tiny red/or blue button and hold for 5 seconds. Turn on the router and with luck that will fixed the issue. Also make sure that by some strange reason the router is plug firmly into your computer. I have mine set up wireless so no cords. If that doesn’t work, shut off the router and wait ten seconds. You can also call your provider and find out if the internet is off in your area. I’ve had that happen a few times and of course my first thought that it was the computer or router. If you call and it’s not down in the area they can router from there end and troubleshoot the issue.

The Chinese New Years celebration sounds like fun. We don’t have anything like that in the area I live.
    Good luck!

    1. Jeanne — you might start a new category called “computer advice” so that we can find comments like Sandra’s again.

I’ve written down your instructions, Sandra! Thank you!

I was told to turn off/unplug from power And phone line (I have wifi thru my phone co.) for 30 seconds, and that works, but I may try this, too–I did find what I think is a button-in-a-hole on my modem, the button is black but there’s a red ring around it on the outer shell.

  5. Oh no, not computer trouble again, Jeanne! Well, that’s the way it goes in this day and age! Like Marilyn said, you have more time for showing off the kitchen pictures, and I guess, Molly’s outfit before you list it. Easter will be here before you know it!
As afar as Olympics go, like most everybody else here, I enjoy the figure skating the best of all. I remember getting a Madame Alexander 18 inch Sonja Henie doll when I was about 10 years old with the most darling Tyrolean outfit and skates. Of course, I don’t have her anymore, but I certainly did and do make sure my dolls have skating outfits. In fact, they just competed in the Olympics and Ruthie got a gold medal!

    1. A big congrats to Ruthie! Would love to see a picture of a Sonja Henie doll. Perhaps, there is one on ebay or somewhere.

  6. As to the Olympics, the great snowboarding has been fun. And always love the ski jumps.
Looking forward to the Chinese New Year photos.

  7. Sorry about your internet.. perhaps there was an outage in the area . If you call your provider, the automated message will tell you if that’s the reason.
Sometimes a tech resending the signal will fix it.

My favorite winter event has been the Half Pike
Shaun White lives close to us, and our son has met him. He visits elementary and middle schools telling children how to be as safe as possible while enjoying snowboarding .
Second sport would be bobsledding.. every since “Cool Runnings” 🙂
Of course, the ice skating, both singles andbpairs, are beautiful to watch.

  8. My favorite thing to watch in the Olympics is the pairs figure skating followed by the singles.
I loved that Russian pair Sergei and Ekaterina from many years ago.

  9. I’m saving the excellent instructions Sandra gave. Very complete. Thanks. Skating is my favorite along with curling which I only see every four years. Beautiful costumes combined with amazing artistry, dedication and years of training.

  10. No olympics for me. I don’t watch much tv, although right now I’m hooked on the PBS Masterpiece series “Victoria” which is about Queen Victoria. The costumes are just fabulous. I see Sandra gave you some good instructions for resetting your router. I can usually unplug mine for a few seconds then restart it. It seems to lose connection when there is any kind of power blip.

    1. Hi Carolyn – I have been hooked on Victoria too. I enjoy the historical series I just wish they would lighten up the interior shots – I know they are depicting the period but they go to all the expense of having the right settings but we can’t see them :o( other than that they are great.

  11. Hi Jeanne; hope your computer problems have been fixed. It’s a love – hate relationship isn’t it?
I have always loved the Winter Olympics. I fondly remember my sister and I being glued to the TV listening to Dick Button and I think Jim McKay. Anyways, any ice skating venue, sky jumping and now the half pike are so interesting to me. I am not very athletic, well actually NOT athletic at all so I am amazed at all of their ability, artistry and fearlessness.
