HI everyone,I answered your comments yesterday, but all in one at the bottom…
Thanks so very, very much for sticking around while I wrote ONLY about the work being done in the church’s kitchen. I have had no time for sewing AT ALL, but decided it’s time to move on to doll stuff… sewing or dolls or anything OTHER than kitchen stuff! Some of you have really enjoyed it and I thank you for that. There won’t be any sewing stuff in THIS post, but hopefully on Monday, it will seem more like normal around here. I’m ready…and I’m sure you are too!
Today I thought I’d just finish up the week with the rest of what got done in the kitchen. I’ll show you later on when the countertops get in, and a new door is put up and the toe kicks are all in place, plus more, but I can’t keep writing about it each day… not unless I want to change my blogging focus to home improvement… I think I’ll stick with dolls and sewing!
Today we had some help with our “skilled” carpenter again, and a few others… you know, “many hands make a load light!”
Slowly but surely the kitchen cabinets were secured to the wall.
Keona cleaned the ickiest looking stove, that I thought had no hope, and turned it into this remarkable, beautiful white stove! (I think she’ll come to your house and clean yours too, if you ask her nicely, and supply a Dunkin Donuts White Chocolate Mocha coffee!) Thanks so much Keona!
When we left, I snapped one last picture. We reached our goals before our church’s 30th Anniversary weekend… the walls were painted, the floor was laid, and the cabinets were (mostly finished.) The range hood was put up today and my hubby got that all wired up. It really makes it look “kitcheny” in there now!
There is still plenty more to finish…countertops put in, toe kicks added to the bottom of the front of the cabinets, a new door to the basement put in, baseboard put in on a few walls, new curtains made, etc. It will be done eventually and when it is I’ll come back and show it to you again… ALL finished.
Thanks again for tagging along with me on this “kitchen adventure!” Now to enjoy the Anniversary weekend a little bit. What I could really use is a long 24 hour nap! :o)
See you Monday everyone,
Blessings, Jeanne
Oh, it is looking so nice now! Keona did a fantastic job on that stove–it looks like new!
Hope you’ll get a chance to rest and sew a little this weekend. And enjoy the festivities! Congratulations to your church on its anniversary!
Thanks Charlotte!
I hope to get some rest tomorrow!
Blessings, Jeanne
The church kitchen looks fantastic! You and your husband are humble servants and your love for the Lord is evident in your handy work. God bless you both for all you do.
Thank you, Laureen,
I appreciate your kind compliments, but all the glory goes to God! I am SO far from being a decorator and this turning out as pretty as it is, was totally a work from Him!
Blessings, Jeanne
It’s wonderful. Why no picture of Jeanne Marie doing all that work? You were amazing throughout. So glad it’s finished. Enjoy your rest this weekend.
Hi Susette,
…because Jeanne Marie really doesn’t like her picture taken! There is still more to do, but I think I’ll only help part time or every 2 or 3 days.
Thanks Susette,
Blessings, Jeanne
Susette, Jeanne Marie was holding the camera and wouldn’t let go. It’s the blog’s lifeline.
Congratulations on all that work and on the church’s 30th anniversary. You made that kitchen look wonderful, and I’m hoping for pictures of the food and fun part of the celebration and of the very clean kitchen afterward.
You do need a 24 hour nap and I’ll bet George does the same, and you certainly deserved it, though you aren’t going to get it. There’s no blog tonight, which is too bad for us, but we’ll think of you fast asleep instead.
Hi Marilyn,
The Anniversary celebration was held at our Civic Center…not at our church. We just did all this work around the church to welcome back the 80 or more Alumni that have come in. It was time for an update for many areas around here and now lots of them are.
I didn’t take a single picture at the luncheon.. .too busy visiting. It was a nice lunch of world famous BBQ and chicken, potatoes, vegetable medly, salad, and wonderful cake!
I’m still awake, but close to going to bed. Rebecca was house sitting for the last 4 days and I wanted to see her before I went to bed.
Thank you, Marilyn,
Blessings, Jeanne
Good Saturday morning Jeanne,
I’ve really enjoyed following along on this remodel. I too am in need of a new kitchen. So all the ideas shared here are very interesting to me. I’m in agreement, you and George deserve a very nice long nap! Enjoy the anniversary celebrations
Hugs
Ingrid
Hi Ingrid,
I’m so glad you enjoyed the kitchen posts…and I hope you get that new kitchen you are dreaming of too!
Speaking of dreams…I’m ready for some tonight!
Blessings, Jeanne
A big WOW! Congrats on all of your work. Fabulous job.
Enjoy the celebration. A little sleep can make you ready to roll again.
Finished the dress for grand except the snaps. I have snapaphobia and conveniently couldn’t find a single snap anywhere around here although, there are probably many somewhere. So, unless we can locate a snap store on the way to the birthday, it will be pinned and then sent back next week. I really don’t think grand or Nanea will care.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend.
Hi Joy,
I almost laughed out loud when you talked about the snaps! :o) if we lived closer to each other, you could have just come to my house!
I hope you found some snaps.
Blessings, Jeanne
It looks beautiful! I hope you have the energy to enjoy the anniversary. I have enjoyed these posts so please feel free to do more (like when you get your new kitchen — hint hint).
Hope you have a great day!
Take care —
Thank you Charlotte,
I’m so glad I didn’t bore you with my kitchen posts!
Blessings, Jeanne
Dear Jeanne, applause to all involved! What a wonderful gift of labor and time and love for your church. I hope you keep your promise to yourself and take a much deserved mega nap.
Hi Dorothy,
I’m hoping to keep that promise of a nap, but it most likely will have to come tomorrow…I’m heading to bed soon though.
Thank you for your kind compliments.
Blessings, Jeanne
Well done, George and Jeanne….and all………
Blessings.
Thank you so much Becky!
Blessings, Jeanne
The kitchen looks absolutely wonderful!! Soon, it’ll be finished and everyone can enjoy it. You and George and your helpers did a beautiful job.
Thanks Paula,
All of the Life Groups are trying to figure out who gets to cook in the kitchen first! I hope we get invited to the first meal!
Blessings, Jeanne
I’m late, but not really, Jeanne. I actually did write a comment early this morning, but I think I forgot to post the comment! I’ve done that a few times, you know, senior moment!.
I guess I will have to echo what everyone else says because that kitchen is just wonderful compared to what it looked like a week ago. You have so lovingly put together a kitchen that will serve your church for many, many years to come. I certainly hope you get the recognition you both deserve, although you probably aren’t thinking of that. I do see that there were a few other wonderful people who helped out, and I think Keona could come to visit me and clean my oven too! It’s really not that bad, since it is self cleaning, and a glass cooktop, but she looks so nice and friendly to visit with. Just happened to think, are you going to have a microwave on the counter?
Good luck with that 24 hour nap!! See you Monday!
Hi Linda,
The lock on the church door somehow got messed up last night as we were leaving, so George had to have it re-keyed this morning. The Sunday School house kitchen is just next door to the church and when George was done with the lock, he said, “I just have to look at the kitchen one more time.” I don’t think he can believe it’s the same room.
I told Keona the same thing…she said, “oh, no!”
I’m sure the microwave will go back in the kitchen…maybe on the other side…
Thanks Linda…
Blessings, Jeanne
