I’m not finished yet and there is still plenty to finish on Felicity’s dress set, but I thought I would share a few pictures of what it looks like now.
Here’s a look at the Caraco Jacket laid out flat…
I don’t like the way the gathers look on the yellow linen fabric…sort of smooshed under the point in the front. So I’m going to fix that somehow…
I’ve still got to finish the handwork on the sleeves, add the snaps in the back, hem the skirt, decorate the hat, make a petticoat to hold out the skirt, etc. So, I still have a ways to go before I’m done. We got out the hat and Felicity wanted to show you what it looks like with the dress…
Speaking of the skirt…I wanted to make it versatile, so with this one, it can be turned around with the yellow section to the back. It will look like it’s all one piece this way…Surprise, Surprise!
So that’s what I got accomplished today…
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
Oh, this is coming along very nicely, Jeanne! I especially love the idea of the skirt that can be turned front-to-back for a different look!! Can’t wait to see it all finished!
I finished a doll dress today–for my Mariko (LD painted by Dianna Effner), and I cut out a dress for Pearl, my new LD painted by Magalie. She’s getting quite anxious to have something with Sleeves, as her arms are getting cold! LOL
Hi Charlotte,
Thank you so much for your compliments on Felicity’s dress. I liked the idea of being able to turn the skirt around for a different look too. I might show the inside of it and how you can fasten it so that you don’t have a ribbon hanging out the back.
Congratulations on starting two new dresses for your girls. I bet they’re going to be so happy to wear something new from Mom. Blessings, Jeanne
This is just beautiful, Jeanne! The fabric look like it has a body to it and is easy to sew with. What do they call it? Is it a polished cotton? I wish AG would make more of this kind of dress for Felicity, something that would actually be used in her day, with the right colors for the time. I love the versatility of the skirt too! Once you get the finishing touches on it and the hat, it will be a gorgeous outfit!
How do you make the skirt close so that the closing doesn’t show when turned around?
I love the peplum, the way it stands out, and it looks like she has those “pockets” on underneath, but maybe it’s just that the material has body enough to hold it out.
I really enjoyed reading your two blogs introducing ourselves, and if we wanted to look it up in the future, would you put them in one blog? Maybe have an ongoing one, where people who missed out, or new readers could add theirs. That was a brilliant idea, and I am amazed at how wonderful and varied we all are, and yet we all love dolls!
Happy Halloween everyone!
Thank you, Linda,
Felicity does look exceptionally pretty in this fabric. I think the combination of the coral and green really show off her complexion well.
The fabric is just a regular cotton… nothing really special about it, but it does have a really pretty, and clear, printed design. I like that a lot! I like the designs to be precise like they were outlined by a fine point sharpie!
I think I might show how I did the skirt so you can see that it will work on any dolls waist… She does have side slits but I didn’t finish the inside pockets.
I was thinking of putting all the “bios” in one post too… I really enjoyed reading them and my sister, Cindy, even told me she enjoyed reading about “my ladies!” :o)
We truly are all in various places in life, but our common ground are the dolls we love!
Thanks Linda,
Blessings, Jeanne
Ever since you first showed it, I just love the dress fabric. If I remember correctly, you said you got it from Australia? I can see why you would go to the extra trouble to order from Australia. It is so pretty. I love the versatility, being able to put the yellow panel behind too. It is the perfect shade to use an accent color. And the hat is the perfect accessory too. It is so fun to begin the day with such lovely work.
Have a good day!
Take care.
HI Charlotte,
I’m with you… ever since I saw that fabric too… I loved it! I don’t think coming from Australia is that important, because I got it here, but I just couldn’t find it anywhere but in Australia…
I can’t wait to get it all done either… I think Felicity will keep at me to get it finished! :o)
It doesn’t hurt that you all are waiting for it to be completed either! :o)
Thank you Charlotte,
Blessings, Jeanne
The ensemble is simply sumptuous, Jeanne. I’m sure the winner of it will be superbly satisfied.
Blessings.
Thank you Becky,
Oh, Felicity’s Fall Fancy is Simply Sumptuous! I love that!
Thank you very much,
Blessings, Jeanne
Now that the dress is complete enough that we can see how it’s going to look, I’m eager to see how you’ll trim the hat. That lovely Colombian dinner must have given you a lot of extra energy. I’m really liking the necklace with the green and yellow.
Halloween is here — in Boulder that usually means cold, but I didn’t expect snow. It’s only a dusting, with more expected this morning, but by night it should be clear and not as cold as the current 28 degrees. Still, we may not get as many trick-or-treaters as sometimes.
Hi Marilyn,
I might have to get out some of my flowers and see what colors look best up there… I’m anxious to see it decorated too!
I’m thinking that necklace looks pretty good too..Rebecca has another one that is similar in color, but a little fancier..I might have to show it and see what everyone thinks.
It’s chilly here today too, but in the 40’s…not the 20’s…BIG difference. I bought a new coat half price at Kohl’s that is light as a feather but the inside says it’s goose down. I wore it this morning and it was okay…but I don’t think it will be warm enough when it gets really cold…
Stay warm!!!
Blessings, Jeanne
Good Morning and Happy Halloween. Felicity’s outfit is going to be stunning. I love your idea of being able to wear the skirt 2 ways, very versatile.
Thanks for posting the recipe guideline for the soup, sounds easy and delicious and I’m gonna give it a try.
Thank you for the compliments on Felicity’s new dress set. I’ve got to figure out how I’m going to finish up the dress…
I hope if you try the soup, it’s as yummy as ours was. I could use a bowl of it right now…it’s a bit chilly out!
Thanks again,
Blessings, Jeanne
Looks like you have been quite busy. Dress is very sweet.
Happy Halloween!
Thank you Joy,
I (we) have been very busy but I’m sure I’m not the only one! Most people are!
I was pricing more cabinets today…I have “cabin…et” fever I guess!
I’m glad you like the dress so far…
I hope you and your girls are having a great day!
Blessings, Jeanne
Happy Halloween! I like the yellow in a color that accents the fabric of the Caraco jacket instead of being a stark contrast like the American Girl Felicity dresses. Great idea for pictures to be able to change it. Well worth chasing down the fabric in Australia. Dollcake, where the darling little girl dresses come from, is located in Australia too. Thinking of you on this important day.
Hi Susette,
We got back from the doctor a little while ago…and it’s “Oh, Happy Day” around here as the biopsy results on the suspicious spots in my hubby’s bladder were all benign! We are rejoicing in the goodness of the Lord and are feeling very grateful!
He has to have cystoscopies every 3 months now for at least a year but for now we feel like we can breathe!!!
Thank you for the sweet comments on Felicity’s dress. I hope to get something done on it today…
Blessings, Jeanne
Wonderful news about George!! What a special treat day this is.
I think that cabin..et fever is catching! I want some too, but gonna costa lota.
HI Joy,
YES… the news was wonderful!!!!
YES…the cabinets are expensive… you should see my “spread sheet” for the different places we’ve been… it’s impressive…but “gonna costa lota!” :o)
Thanks Joy,
Blessings, Jeanne
Another busy day for me so I’m late to comment. So very happy to hear that George’s biopsy was benign. Praise the lord!!
Felicity looks simply charming in her dress. The coral, green and yellow print really brings out her beauty to perfection. I sometimes think that AG and even PC could have chosen better in the wardrobe colors, especially for the meet dresses as that it your first impression. Felicity rose garden gown was a good choice, but for some other the choice seemed to clash or at least not compliment the hair and eye color. You have to get them out of their meet to really appreciate them
I’m looking forward to seeing the rest of this beautiful gown.
HI Laura,
We are just thrilled at the good news from the biopsy. I’m not sure how I would have made it through the day if it had been bad news… But I’m glad I don’t have to deal with that now!
I totally agree with you about AG not thinking though their choices for doll dresses for some of the dolls. It’s just like they picked any old thing to make a dress from… It has to catch your eye, and sometimes they are so boring, I don’t give them a second glance at all.
I’m hoping the rest of the dress will come along quickly…I really do have the hardest and most time consuming parts finished.
Thanks so much Laura,
Blessings, Jeanne
So happy for your family the biopsy was benign! What a joyous relief after waiting for results. I’m sure the holidays will be a real time of thanksgiving.
Judy
Hi Judy,
It was such wonderful news we were almost breathless in the office. There is nothing quite like good news! There will still be battles ahead but we won this victory today!
Absolutely, Thanksgiving will be a little sweeter this year!!!
Thank you Judy,
Blessings, Jeanne
So happy to hear the good news about George. The prayers will continue!
Felicity’s dress is just gorgeous. The yellow panel is perfect with the bright, cheerful Australian material. The pearl necklace and hat color work just as well too. Can’t wait to see it finished.
Just a little sad note on my end. My nephew lost his four year fight with cancer last week. I know he’s safe in God’s arms and that is what we hold on to. We are all numb.
