Remember those REBORN baby dolls we saw last week????

Most of you said the reborn dolls that I showed you last week “creeped” you out. “Creepy” seemed to be the resounding adjective everyone kept saying over and over again… Well, I mentioned in my comments that I guess one post was enough on reborns and we’d skip any further talk of them…
I do have a baby doll to show you, but she’s not a reborn, she’s a living, breathing, little doll. Get ready for the capitals…. BITHAR HAD HER BABY GIRL TUESDAY MORNING! She did and she is a cutie!

Bithar said she’d been awake since a little before 1:00 a.m. Tuesday morning and at 5:30 a.m. or so, they determined it was time for her to go to the hospital, so dad woke up the 3 kids and got them dressed and took them all to the hospital. (Bithar told me she thought it was too early to call me…) Anyway, they all arrived at the hospital and dad watched the kids in the waiting room, while mom was whisked away to a birthing room… When they checked her, she was dilated to 9 centimeters and quickly got to 10. She gave 3 pushes and the baby was born! Can you believe that? I told her when I was visiting with her… if Jean had gotten a couple more red lights, HE might have been delivering that baby…with an audience of six wondering eyes!

They have both been praying about the name for this special little girl and Jean had a dream on Thursday night, I believe. He saw the sentence spelled out… “Her name will be G.A.T.E.R.A.H.” That was all… but he didn’t know what it meant. So he went ahead and told Bithar and she kind of did a “What???” They continued to pray and later on Jean said the Lord showed him that her name meant Gate…or Door..not a window… but a door. They named her middle name Blessing… So her name means “Door of Blessing.” When I first saw her name, I didn’t know how to pronounce it… I was saying in my head… Ga Tur Ah… with the accent on Tur… But Jean said it will be pronounced with the accent on the first syllable… so it’s like “Get Her Uh…” when he pronounced it that way, I immediately said, “You mean like “Get her a doll?” Seriously, I said that, and didn’t even realize I had said it… So “Get Her Uh”…(doll, bottle, blankie, diaper,) has a pretty unique name.

Bithar was quite excited to see me when I peeked my head in the room. Jean and the 2 girls were there but Samuel had been taken to school. The girls will go all day starting next week. That will give Bithar her days to get some rest and get used to her new precious daughter. (I’m not sure how she’ll make it with 4 kids under 6!)

Jean took the two girls and went home after a little while and I got to visit a good long while with Bithar and Gaterah. Okay, so I guess you’d like to see some pictures? We had quite a little photo session and I hope you enjoy seeing this beautiful Haitian baby girl.

They told Bithar she could change the baby into some clothes when she was 6 hours old, so she asked me to get her suitcase…(which was HUGE) and when she unzipped it, I think everything she got from the baby shower was in it… she wanted to find something pink to put on her but everything looked like it would swallow her. We finally decided on this little pink onesie even though the crotch was down to her ankles. She weighed 8 pounds 7 ounces I think… and was 20 inches long.

She wasn’t happy with the change…

But she got over it…

Jean took a picture of me holding her before he left. The picture is blurry, but it was my favorite…

I sat down in a rocking chair and rocked her to sleep… oh my goodness… nothing’s quite as sweet as Gaterah Blessing!

Sorry, I never made it to your comments… they were wonderful though… You all say the nicest things… to me and to each other! I give you all an A+ in Kindness!

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. What a pretty baby! I suppose if all it took was three pushes, neither mother nor baby looks especially stressed. I’m still having problems with putting the accent on the first syllable, but I’ll get used to it.

The nurses must have loved having a baby born with so little effort and then seeing that huge wardrobe, and pink is just the color for that cute little girl. Her sisters are pretty cute too, and you look lovely and delighted holding that pretty little girl. Only a born mother can rock a baby to sleep in no time. Congratulations on one of your very best posts.

It sounds like another day without time for sewing, but it was productive enough.

    1. Hi Marilyn,
Yes, she is a pretty baby! I was blessed to be able to see and hold her on her first day!
You are so right…not a day for sewing, but making memories!
I have one more coat of paint to go on the wall behind my blue cabinet and the walls will be all finished! Hallelujah!
      Thanks Marilyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

What a beautiful baby!! Mom and big sisters look so happy and relaxed!! Congratulations to all.

How lovely, that you got to hold little Gaterah. There is nothing quite so sweet as holding a newborn baby. I’ve only gotten to do that with three babies, with our son’s three boys. (We adopted our son when he was 3 years old.) Such a special time!

    1. Thank you Charlotte,
She is a beautiful little girl and I think she’ll be a nice addition to their family. (I’m not sure where they’ll put everybody…but they’ll figure it out I’m sure.)
How special that you go to hold your three grandsons!!!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. What a sweet post today, Jeanne! It’s certainly nice to see that God is still in charge of things and we get to be a witness for the blessings He sends to us! What a beautiful baby girl! The whole family in the pictures look so happy and Bithar is absolutely beaming!

I was wondering if Gaterah slept through the whole day, but saw, farther down, she did open her little eyes. And she is so pretty in pink!! What a sweet picture of you holding her, Jeanne, and you know, after a “certain age”, blurry photos are the best!!

What with the baby born, and the eclipse looming over head soon, you can get down to sewing again!

    1. HI Linda,
I thought the same thing about Bithar… Beaming was the exact word I was thinking of!
Oh Linda, you are TOO kind about the blurry photo! That made me smile… a blurry smile, but a smile! :o)
      Sewing? What’s that????? :o) Soon!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. What a beautiful baby! Congratulations to the whole family. The little pink head scarf is the cutest thing I’ve seen on a baby’s head. The big sisters are so cute. Their pictures will pop up on my Screen Saver right along with pictures of you and my grandchildren and most of the places I’ve been in the world. Thanks so much for sharing them.

    1. I know, Susette! Aren’t those baby hats the sweetest things ever. I hadn’t seen them before, so they must be something new someone thought up at the hospital.. The idea probably came from Pinterest.. no doubt!
I got a kick out of Deborah with her hand on her hip… She knows how to rock a photo shoot, doesn’t she?
      Thanks Susette,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. She is absolutely GORGEOUS and I LOVE her name!!! Gaterah Blessing….that’s GOT to translate to Gaterah new baby doll!! 🙂 Just beautiful and mom and the other children are as well. Prayers for all of God’s richest blessings to be showered upon them! Thank you for sharing, Jeanne. Love always

    1. HI Bobi,
Yes, she IS gorgeous…and then some! I think she might need a new Baby Doll too… a soft one… or maybe wait a few months and get her one… :o)
It was MY pleasure to share the birth of this new baby girl!
      Thanks Bobi,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Congratulations to all!! She is a beautiful baby! Best wishes to the family.
    Have a good day!
    Take care.

    1. Thanks Charlotte,
I told Bithar I’d write a post about her new baby and she could share it with her family and friends back in Haiti… Now with everyone’s sweet comments, it will be even more special.
      Thanks again,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. What a wonderful read this morning…what a blessing for all involved…loved that Jean got that dream for Gaterah’s name, the quick birth, the happiness of the family, and the lovely photo of you holding that precious child. It’s times like this that surely make the world a lovely place to live in.

    Blessings.

    1. HI Becky,
A new baby does make it seem like everything’s alright in the world…at least for a little bit,
      while she’s in your arms…
      Thank you Becky,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. Rejoicing in the birth of Gaterah, a miracle fashioned and made by God. Psalm 127:3 Lo children are an heritage of the Lord and the fruit of the womb is his reward. Congratulations to the family, beautiful mother and baby. Jeanne you are a compassionate, tenderhearted loving and giving soul; love the picture of you holding Gaterah.

    God Bless and Keep You

    1. Thank you Laureen,
It was such a blessing to get to see Gaterah and hold her. She was 8 pounds 7 ozs, but she seemed much smaller than that… of course, it’s a been a while since a rocked a little one to sleep! I really enjoyed it!
      Thanks Laureen,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. Nothing more precious than welcoming a precious new life into the world !
    Love all the photos!

    1. Hi Shara,
You couldn’t be more right…there is nothing more precious than a newborn!
I’m glad you enjoyed seeing her!
      Blessings, Jeanne

    1. HI Christine,
She is precious and yes, her mommy is very happy!
      Thank you Christine!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  10. Well, congratulations to Bithar, Gaterah, and Jeanne. Beautiful healthy babe. And the fuzzy photo unmasks a very thin Jeanne. Even just getting over an illness, you look lovely.
Going to be a beautiful day today.

    1. Oh Joy,
You made my day…even in the fuzzy photo, you noticed a difference… Whether you really can, or are just saying that, I was elated! I’ve been trying hard! It’s amazing how the flu can have one blessing… a 2 pound drop in your weight… just enough to get you over a slump you’ve been in for a few days. Thanks!!
Thanks for the congrats to Bithar too! :o)
      Blessings, Jeanne

  11. Welcome to the world, beautiful angel! Congrats to mom, dad, big brother and big sisters! 🙂

    1. Thank you, Melody, for adding your congratulations to Bithar and her family for their newest family addition!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  12. Hi Jeanne,
What a nice surprise opening up your blog today. I’m so happy Bithar had what sounds like a pretty easy birth. Best wishes to the family. I loved the photo of you holding that sweet little one. As always I so enjoy reading about your adventures.
Loved all the yellow dresses. My favorite, Addy in her civil war outfit. I think it’s the perfect color on her. Sorry to read Little Bit and her friends had to find a new home but I’m sure they will be much happier as you said.
    Have a great day
    hugs
    Ingrid

    1. HI Ingrid and thank you for your happiness for Bithar and her family. She did have an easy pregnancy and I’m sure glad Jean got home from Haiti when he did!
My adventures? I guess that’s what my blog has become now… Jeanne’s adventures… we will eventually get back to sewing… as soon as I get my living room finished… or sooner if I can manage 2 things at once.
My hubby said he would only sell the birds as a “family” and didn’t want to break them up. They’ve all been together since baby chicks and he didn’t want to separate them. He’s such a softie.
      Thanks Ingrid,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  13. That baby girl is so beautiful! She will be so much fun for the older kids to entertain. They have quite the family! You looked so happy in the picture! Nothing like holding a brand new baby.! Best wishes to the whole family!
Best of luck finishing your projects!

    1. Thank you Kathie,
They are a wonderfully happy family. The kids, have all learned English so well, they don’t have to be in special classes ….they only knew French as of last August…
It was a treat to hold that little bundle of joy in my arms…
      Thanks Kathie,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  14. Beautiful baby. Congratulations to the whole family. I bet Birthar will get plenty of help from those two doting big sisters and protective big brother. So sweet that you got to hold her, too.

    1. Thanks Laura,
I think her kids WILL be big helps… I think the last newborn baby I got to hold from a new international family going to school here, was a little baby girl from India. It was a few years ago…it never gets old!
      Thanks Laura,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  15. What a lovely baby!

    1. Hi Gloria,
Thank you for your comments. The hospital just started making those pink bow hats for the new babies and I think they are adorable too!
It’s been a few weeks since I saw the baby, so I need to plan a visit.
      Thank you,
      Blessings, Jeanne
