Whenever someone asks a question, I usually write it down so when I answer it, I can give them a shout out and let them have their 15 minutes of fame, but sometimes I forget who asked what. Such is the case with the “polka dot” dresses. Someone asked to see more polka dotted dresses and I’ve misplaced who it was….sorry about that. But that won’t stop me from showing you what I found in the archives…
These are the dresses I found on my various dolls:
Julie’s starting us out in a pretty pink and white polka dotted dress from the 70’s.
Next up is Janie, my 13″ Little Darling by Dianna Effner. She’s in HER pink and white polka dotted dress…
Another Little Darling of mine, Lian, is in HER pink and white polka dotted dress…same fabric, different style.
Molly is in a fun navy and white polka dotted dress trimmed in vintage red baby rick rack.
Here’s Molly in another polka dot dress…if you use your imagination a little bit. They are dots!
A favorite from all my viewers, this red with tiny white polka dots on Lian, was very popular.
Bitty Bethany, by Helen Kish is wearing a fun black and white jacket with her black and white print dress. Just a hint of red makes for a nice pop!
Janie is modeling a polka dot corduroy pleated skirt this time.
And last up is Janie again, modeling a dress, that if you use your imagination, looks like polka dots!
I hope you enjoyed the pictures of my girls in their polka dotted dresses!
I’m going on a 100 mile yard sale tomorrow with my hubby! We’ve done it for the last 5 years or so and it’s so much fun. You never know what you might find. If I find any good treasures, I’ll be sure and share them with you! I’m always looking for tiny props, little stuffed animals, fabric, sewing tools and equipment, things for my house, furniture to paint, antiques, picture frames, vintage laces and lines, hankies, trims, and more. My hubby always looks for tools, and tools and tools! He’s a tool kind of guy!
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
I love polka dots, Jeanne! They are so perky looking and make you smile when you see them. I love all those dresses, and certainly can’t pick a favorite! I do love the navy and white though, of Molly’s dress, since it reminds me of one I had at that age.
Have fun on that shopping trip! Is that something that is a “planned community” thing, or is it just you and your hubby going around to different yard sales? Let’s hope you have room for all the treasures you bring home!! Have fun!
HI Linda,
I LOVE polka dot things too! It doesn’t matter what they are on…except maybe a room…not exactly my style…
We did have fun on the trip. It is a community wide thing…that goes for 100 miles. We never get to the end before we are pooped out, but we try to go as far as our bodies will let us. The trunk of our car was full…mostly with George’s goodies… I didn’t find too much… but it was still fun. It’s always fun just to get away.
Blessings, Jeanne
Jeanne, I LOVE the next to last outfit on Janie, the black & white & pink! So cute! Polka dots are so fun, I like them for me too! :-). one of these days I AM going to go with you on that 100 mile yard sale!! I know I would wimp out before the day was over but sure would be fun to see how far we could get! See you soon!!!!! /
HI Cindy,
YES… you are going to have to schedule a trip here so we can go together sometime. Today it was all for George, but that’s okay… I get my goodies through the year! I’m right there with you with the wimping out part. We poop out too, and never make it to the end, but each we try to go a little farther. It’s always fun! SO MUCH JUNK… you can’t imagine it all!
Yep, see you soon. I better get to packing…and finding my dress for the wedding! Yikes!
Love you, Jeanne
What a lovely show of polka dot outfits. Each one is adorable. Polka dots are fun.
I remember a dress my mother wore to church sometimes. It was white, with a full skirt and had black polka dots all over it. She wore a full brim black hat with the dress and the neatest thing about the outfit was she often wore her black and white spectators with that dress too. She was always a sharp dresser.
How fun to go to a huge yard sale. Hope you find all sorts of goodies.
Blessings!
HI Paula,
Polka dots ARE fun and it’s neat you vividly remember the dress your mom wore. That is so special. It sounds like she was a knock out in that outfit!
Well, I didn’t find too much but it was still fun!
Thanks Paula,
Blessings, Jeanne
Jeanne, I really like Molly’s dress but I love Lian so much and she looks so good in red that I would have to choose her as my favorite.
I am jealous of the hundred mile yard sale trip, I don’t think they have anything like that around here, but I’ve heard of them. The weather here will be perfect, I hope it is the same in southern IL. Have fun!
Hi Jevne,
Yes, that red dress for Lian caused some commotion when it was on Ebay!
The weather was gorgeous here today. I don’t know if we’ve ever gone on this yard sale trip when it was so nice. Usually it’s so hot and humid you are just miserable. Today it was a bit breezy and in the mid 70’s…very nice!
Blessings, Jeanne
Love polka dots !! I started looking at the dresses and tried to pick my favorite but I just could not do that. They are all so darn cute !! Of course, Janie looks darling in anything you make for her!
A hundred mile yard sale sounds like so much fun. I hope you find some real treasures!
Be sure to post them soon.
HI Jeannie,
Thanks for your kind compliments on my polka dotted dresses! Who doesn’t love polka dots?
Well, I wish I had gobs of treasures to post, but it wasn’t my day I guess… :o(
I still had lots of fun though.
Blessings, Jeanne
I love the last dress Janie is modeling, the little jacket is so pretty. Have a great time at the yard sale, they are so much fun. I have been to the longest yard sale a few times. It starts in Alabama and goes to Ohio, I think. I have only been to the Tennessee part of it, but would love to go farther..maybe this year.
Thanks Regina,
Janie’s little dress was so much prettier in person than in my pictures. It was bright and so summery looking. The green jacket was made from a chartreuse embroidered gauzy fabric that was really fun to sew with. She had on her auburn wig in the pictures and it looked so sweet on her with the bright dress set.
We didn’t make it to the end of our yard sale either… we pooped out and wanted dinner instead. So we turned around and headed back. It was still fun.
Blessings, Jeanne
Molly is my favorite of the dresses this time….love her in red and that style is perfect on her
100 mile sale! Sounds like oodles of fun!
Have a good weekend!
HI Kathie,
Thank you for your compliments on Molly’s red and blue dress. That one was copied from a Sears catalog in 1943, I think.
Yes, the yard sale was fun…but I’m tired now. I’m glad we went on Friday instead of Saturday, because if I had church facing me in the morning, I’d have to go to bed right now!
Thanks Kathie,
Blessings, Jeanne
