Do you have a fever? Dolly fever, that is? It seems some of you do, but really don’t care! In fact, you’re pretty excited that you do have it! If you’re new to doll talk, that’s what we say when someone gets to longing for a new doll. It’s pretty awful to have it, but sometimes it’s really wonderful when it ends well…most of the time with a sweet new doll to love! But there is NOTHING worse than having dolly fever and not being about to make it go away! Fortunately, for these few ladies, it did end well!
Charlotte T. received her new 13″ Dianna Effner, Little Darling, from Magalie. I’m not sure how long she had to wait on Magalie’s list for her doll to be painted, but I’m sure she’d tell you, “It was worth the wait.” Let me introduce you to Pearl! Isn’t she just adorable? I love her wig and that sweet little beauty mark on her cheek! This was a case of dolly fever that ended very well! Congratulations Charlotte! …and Well Done, Magalie!
Someone else is supposed to receive a new doll from Magalie too! Joy was thrilled to find out her doll, Margaret Estelle, named after her maternal grandmother, is supposed to arrive on Thursday. I bet both Joy and Charlotte won’t get much done except staring at their dolls today. Joy wanted her doll to look a little like her grandaughter, Landry, if possible… See what you think of these 2 beauties…
See how much fun Dolly Fever can be!!!
I have one more case of dolly fever to share with you. Marilyn got a bad case of Dolly Fever for Samantha… she found a real cutie on Etsy and is waiting for her to arrive! The funny thing was, Marilyn emailed me and told me she was “bad” and had bought another doll…a Samantha doll. She didn’t tell me the sellers name on Etsy…only that the seller had 3 Samantha dolls for sale and she got it for a good price.
Well, I had no idea how many Samantha dolls there were on Etsy, but I thought, somehow, someway, I’d figure out which doll was hers. I went to Etsy and there were over 900 listings, so I decided to put them in order of highest to lowest. I started at the top and sort of browsed through all the dolls, all the while asking myself, “now which one would Marilyn have bought?” I was glancing at all kinds of dolls and all of a sudden one jumped out at me! I opened it up and lo and behold, it had written below it…”Special Order, only for Marilyn!” I had found her doll on the very first one I opened up! She was so pretty and I copied a few pictures of her so you can see why Dolly Fever came over Marilyn so suddenly! :o)
Okay, so let me know if any more of you out there have gotten Dolly Fever. Normally, I’d say Fever, Fever go away, but when you have Dolly Fever it’s sometimes a wonderful thing! :o)
Hope you enjoyed this!
My hubby is having a biopsy on some spots found in his bladder today. We’d appreciate your prayers today!
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
What a surprise to see my pictures of Pearl as the lead to your blog today, Jeanne!! I feel honored!! Yes, Pearl was very much worth the wait. I did have to wait to open the package, though, as I picked up my mail on the way to church for our prayer service, and then had another errand to run. About a half hour after I got home, I realized the mail was still in the car, so of course I HAD to go out and get it (in the wind and rain)!! You mentioned her wig, and it is just so soft and silky….really lovely hair.
Joy, your LD is really beautiful, too, and I think Magalie captured something of your beautiful granddaughter, too!! Such a precious keepsake!
Marilyn, congrats on your new Samantha–you really did find a pretty one!! Her wig is lovely, and I’ve always liked that dress (her Christmas dress, isn’t it?).
Well, I don’t know about Joy and Marilyn, but Pearl and I spent some time tonight looking thru my part of my fabric stash, picking out fabrics for a smocked dress and a gathered skirt (which will be part of her school outfit along with a L/S t-shirt). Guess I need to start sewing!!
Hi Charlotte,
The waiting must have been dreadful for you, Charlotte! But I bet you are making up for it now!
Pearl really is a beautiful little girl and I know just what you are going through when looking at fabrics for her! Have lots of fun!
Blessings, Jeanne
Congratulations ladies! You have such cute results of dolly fever!
Keeping you and George in my thoughts today.
Take care —
Hi Charlotte,
Dolly Fever is the only fever that you usually enjoy! I’m glad you liked seeing the results of these 3 ladies…
Thank you,
Blessings, Jeanne
Those dolls are gorgeous. I’m trying to stay away from dollies as my birthday is soon and then Christmas, but I would really like Gabriela and Nanea, oh Logan as well. See, once it starts, it doesn’t stop. LOL
You and George are always in my prayers. I will pray extra hard for his biopsy.
Hi Christine,
A lady just emailed me chatting about Nanea…she has her, but it’s her Christmas, present so she’s wrapped up and can’t be opened till then… (she did check her out first to make sure she didn’t have wonky eyes or anything else wrong with her).
Thank you for your prayers, Christine,
Blessings, Jeanne
Praying for God’s Blessing on George and you today and always.
Thanks for the post – I think! I don’t have a Little Darling and have been dreaming of one for the longest time. I just put my name on Magalie’s waiting list yesterday – talk about timing! I was thrilled today to read your post and see the lovely photos of Charlotte and Joy’s dolls, they are both just stunning.
Marilyn’s Samatha is beautiful and classic. Can’t believe you found her out of 900 listings and now I have to check those listings because I think I have the “fever”.
Blessings to you all
I found mine on GrandmasToyShoppe on Etsy. There were three. Someone else reviewed the second one this morning. The most expensive one is still there, but she’s wearing the rare ivory/pale yellow croquet outfit, which would add to the price.
Hi Leigh,
Congrats on getting on Magalie’s doll list. Hopefully your wait won’t be too long.
Well, actually there weren’t 900 listings for ONLY Samantha dolls. Some Samantha listings were for ready made dresses or accessories for her. There were just 900 listings that came up when I put in her name.
Congrats on catching “the fever!”
Blessings, Jeanne
I’m writing again, Jeanne, because my first comment never made it to the blog. Talk about dolly fever, I don’t really have that, but I have clothesitis fever, I think! I just cannot get enough clothes for my dolls!
Oh my goodness, Charlotte and Joy, your Little Darlings are just so———-darling! Charlotte, you hit the jackpot with your darling little Pearl, with the beauty mark! Precious! And Joy, that little granddaughter of yours is SO delicious, like a fantasy cupcake, I could gobble her up! The doll looks so much like her, and you will have a lot of fun sewing for Dolly and Me outfits!
Marilyn’s Samantha is a beauty, and she is lucky to have found such a nice one. It is hard to find a PC doll with good face paint and hair, and hers has both.
May George’s test turn out well, extra prayers are coming from me too.. I know what it is to have tests and then waiting for the outcome, all too well. Much love and peace to both of you as you await the results.
Hi Linda,
Well, I think we all realized from your closet pics that you had a slight case of “clothes-itis”…
but hey, someone’s got to keep the doll clothes people in business!
It really is fun to see what everyone else is getting too! I just hope the “fever” stays away…
George is still in surgery and my battery is about dead, so I’ll have to finish your comments when I get home!
Blessings, Jeanne
Thank you, Linda; I’m so pleased with my little Pearl! We are starting to pick out fabrics for new clothes now! 😉
Congratulations! Charlotte’s Pearl is of the same face mold as the Little Darling I got (received, adopted, ordered, what’s the appropriate word?) that matches Riya, my granddaughter. The dolls have wonderfully painted eyes that make them look so lifelike. I didn’t have her when I made matching outfits for Riya, her Just Like Me American Girl doll and Ten Ping. Don’t tell me I have to make one, a dress that Riya designed, for Little Darling Riya! Maybe. Hope we get to see what you make for Pearl.
Joy, what a wonderful match for your Darling Landry! Both are both very beautiful. You must be so proud of both of them, even more so of your little dancer. She’s a lovely child. Love it when readers share their pictures.
Thinking of you and George this morning and sending prayers.
HI Susette,
I’m at home now and ready to finish the comments. George is resting and I’ve taken care of the birds… there might be some time in my sewing room if he stays asleep! :o)
Now we wait until Tuesday, the 31st, for the results… ugh! They sent him home with a catheter so we have to go back tomorrow to get it taken out… no fun for a guy!
I think you’ll have to make a Little Darling dress for Riya and Riya! :o) Such is the life of a seamstress!
Thank you for your prayers today, Susette! We truly appreciate them!
Blessings, Jeanne
Thanks, Susette–I’ll try to remember to send Jeanne some pictures once I get some new clothes made!
Jeanne, you know the two of you are in my prayers also; take care!
Aw, the dollies are just too cute! Pearl and Samantha are precious. Would love to know what to look for out of the 900 Etsy listings. My grown daughter always wanted Samantha, but at the time was just not in the budget. My little Margaret Estelle, according to tracking is in Santa Rosa. Hoping she is delivered today along with a new electric alarm clock that recently bit the dust. Both will be so appreciated.
Giving positive thoughts to George today and always. It’s going to be a beautiful day in the neighborhood.
HI Joy,
I probably should have clarified it when I said there were 900 Samantha listings. I went to Etsy and just typed in Samantha American Girl …so everything from patterns to shoes came up for her. That’s why I narrowed it down by putting them from highest to lowest. I assumed the dolls themselves would be the highest priced things… and they were.
Most of the highest priced things were the dolls and I was looking at eyes mostly, hair next, coloring next and price last. You get what you pay for generally, but sometimes you can find a great deal on a naked doll who is in great shape!
I do hope Margaret arrived today and that you are spending time with her tonight!
Thanks Joy,
Blessings, Jeanne
I forgot to mention Marilyn’s beautiful Samantha. I really couldn’t understand what she was talking about when she said the difference in the dolls except for the hair, but now I do. Can’t believe there are 900 of them on Etsy.
HI again susette,
Well there actually weren’t 900 “dolls” …just 900 listings that had Samantha American Girl in it. I just checked tonight and there were only 700 and something listings now. Lots of those are shoes, and accessories, and patterns and other things… I put them from highest to lowest prices to narrow the dolls down as they tend to be the highest priced things…
Thanks Susette,
Blessings, Jeanne
Well my problem is dolly fever all the time. I went into Kmart for something for my upcoming surgery and came home with two of their AG knock offs. They have the 18″ AND a 15″ that is a Wellie Wisher knock off. I seriously need to say no to more dolls but the kid in me still has tantrums if I try.
HI April,
You are too funny about the tantrums… I didn’t know K-Mart had dolls that were AG knock offs… Send me a picture if you can as I’d love to see them. It’s okay, you are in GOOD company, about the dolls I mean… :o)
Hope your fever goes away soon! I hope your upcoming surgery is something not too serious!
Blessings, Jeanne
Of course I pray for you and George. You both deserve only the best, but I’ll settle for a good report on George.
Pearl and Margaret are wonderful. I love the arrival outfits Magalie sends them in, and that each is appropriate for the doll. Her work is fantastic — she has become as fabulous a doll painter as she is a seamstress. I love looking at her work and passing pictures on to friends, but I like buying clothes that look at home in my house rather than in a museum. They are easier to afford too.
And then there’s Landry. What a beautiful picture of a beautiful girl. It’s too bad they change so quickly, but I’ll bet she’s been just that wonderful, but different, since the day she was born, and she’ll continue to be. Margaret is a wonderful tribute to her at this stage.
I haven’t been picking out fabric for Samantha, but I have been opening boxes and ironing some of my favorite outfits. Fortunately I bought Jesse when the GoT dolls came out, and she’s always been a time traveler, so I have clothes that will fit my new old Samantha, and many of Jeanne’s outfits will work for her too. Now instead of cheering for Felicity and Addy dresses, I’ll be mentally encouraging Samantha dresses as well.
By the way, the Etsy store I mentioned above has a lot of classic AG outfits. They are not under-priced but appear to be in nice condition, for the most part. Looking through her shop is easier than looking through Ebay, and you can always find out the name of the outfit and then check Ebay to see if there’s one you prefer.
HI Marilyn,
Well, when we saw the doctor after his surgery, he said he had to go deep into the muscle wall and that George would probably be very sore. He sent him home with a catheter and it will come out tomorrow. We go back on the 31st for the biopsy results.. That’s a long wait! :o(
You are right about Magalie… her dolls are beautiful to look at as are her clothes! I’ve admired her work for years!
Landry is a very beautiful young lady and she looks like she is just as sweet as she is pretty! I’m sure Joy would say she is!
It sounds like you are having fun looking through your clothing trying to find just the right thing for Samantha. I hope you are having success! It’s always fun to find something you had forgotten about and have it work!
Thanks Marilyn,
Blessings, Jeanne
Hi Jeanne,
My thoughts and prayers are always with you and George but today I pray especially for a good outcome with George’s tests. May God ease your minds while you wait for the results. I know all to well what waiting for results is like.
What fun seeing all the beautiful dolls. Lucky ladies! I’ve been very naughty in the doll department. I recently ordered (actually it was a preorder) a Kaye Wiggs, Mini Miki in coffee tan skin. I can’t wait! Color me happy. I also have my order in with Magalie for a #4 tan skin LD and a #3 smiley face. What can I say I’m a “Bad girl” hahahaha
Hugs
Ingrid
HI Ingrid,
Oh, I see how it is… you were “bad” and we are just now finding out about it! It appears maybe YOU started the “Dolly Fever” around here! :o) I’m sure everyone is glad you did!
Congrats on your new dolls that will be coming sooner than you think!
People who “don’t get dolls” just don’t understand, do they?
Thanks Ingrid,
We appreciate your prayers and you are so right about the waiting…it’s no fun!
Blessings, Jeanne
Sorry you have to play the “waiting game again’. The days just crawl by when you are waiting forest results! George looks so good it’s hard to imagine there is a problem again…??
The dolly fever is biting everyone I think. I was at Costco and they had the sweetest set of 4 Barbies and friends. I wish my g-kids were that age again. This is a set of 4 and they look like real people. All different sizes. The body shapes are very realistic and the dolls are really cute and so are the clothes. I hadn’t seen anything like these and not being a Barbie fan these really impressed me.
Congratulations Charlotte and Joy..both girls are brilliant!
Hi Kathie,
I think George looks good too…better than he has in years…this morning he got on the scale and he’s now lost 53 pounds… we gave up sugar and are eating very low carb and it’s just melting off him. Sometimes I even forget anything is wrong…
I’m guessing you didn’t give in to the Barbies??? It doesn’t sound like you gave in.
Thanks Kathie,
Blessings, Jeanne
Beautiful dolls, and I am glad your husband is getting better!!1
Beautiful dolls, and I am glad your husband is getting better!! Take care and I am back reading your wonderful posts.
