I’ve made more Easter dresses for my dolls than I could ever imagine over the last 10 years. I’ve been selling my clothing on Ebay and Etsy, and when February rolls around and the Valentine dresses are all finished, I turn my attention to Easter dresses. You can NEVER make too many Easter dresses! As I was looking at them in my archives, I noted that only a very few actually had Easter Baskets… many had bunnies or lambs, but not so many with baskets and eggs in them.
SO… I decided today I would feature those girls who “actually” had an Easter Basket as part of her set… I hope you’ll enjoy these pictures…
We’ll let Lian be up first… I know you’ve all seen her in this set before… but did you notice her Easter basket before???
[If you click on any picture, it will enlarge.]
Samantha’s dress was so pretty but her pictures are so crummy… She has a little chickie in her Easter basket…
Riley has the tiniest Easter Basket of them all…
This is another Riley I had in her blue Easter dress. I look at my pictures now, and almost wish I had a Riley still, as I so badly want to “tweak” her dresses… too long and too big in the sleeve cuffs! Oh for a redo on the majority of them. I remember when I made them, thinking how “beautiful” they were… Now, I’m thinking, not so much!
Here’s Patsy and Elin sharing their poses with the Easter Basket for this dress set…
…and last up is Isabelle, my little charmer, in her pale pink Easter dress with her dainty Easter Basket…
I hope everyone has a wonderful Easter tomorrow!
See you then,
Blessings, Jeanne
So cute, Jeanne! Yes, I noticed the “oops!” in the first basket!! Maybe the chick was just too worn out to stand up! I can’t get over how completely adorable all the girls look! I dress my dolls up for Easter, and they also hold Easter baskets. What a job that is, and then I take pictures. I try not to duplicate any outfits from year to year. I’ll send one your way.
I’m having my neighbor come over for dinner tonight since she will be alone and tomorrow will be with my daughter and her family. We will go from having a 98 year old tonight, to having a 4 year old tomorrow, plus their sisters too! Of course, there is church in the middle of the mix! Happy Easter Jeanne, and everyone!
Hi Linda,
I have a cake baking in the oven, so I’m going to try and get some comments answered… I’m sort of feeling like that little chick… a bit worn out… but still there are things to do, so I’ll keep upright for as long as I can.
I saw your pictures Linda, and they are fabulous! I may have to feature them even after Easter… I loved looking at all the details on your vignettes… so cute!
I have my post already written for tomorrow, but I may add something to it…about pictures of everyone’s dolls…
What a nice thing to do for your neighbor. I’m sure she’ll enjoy herself…as well as you! Have a very nice day tomorrow…
Happy Easter,
Blessings, Jeanne
I LOVE that pink eyelet material in the last dress… absolutely lovely! the chicks in the basket look ‘realistic’ – little chicks never stay in the same place for very long. LOL!! I never would have noticed it wasn’t posing nicely. 🙂 too busy looking over other details of outfitting. 🙂
I’m off to look at a Simply Sixteen quilting frame with 2 friends today… I’m sure the quilt shop will have ‘fabric’, too! …. 🙂
HI Mary,
Yes, that pink fabric was quite a mystery to me… I bought it “somewhere” and thought it was Joann’s, but I took a tiny scrap of it in there and they said they had never seen it before. I was positive I had gotten it there.
Then one day I saw the mint green in Joann’s and bought it. I don’t think I’ve used it yet… but I will.
It sounds like fabric falls in “your cart” like it does mine! :o)
Have fun quilting and shopping,
Happy Easter,
Blessings, Jeanne
Happy Easter to you, Jeanne. Thank you for the Easter basket photos this morning; I enjoyed looking at all of your tiny baskets of goodies. They do take quite a bit of work to put together, don’t they? Your dresses, as usual, are pretty, pretty, pretty. Riley looks very cute in the dresses you made her way back when. You may think Riley’s dresses need a tweak, but I don’t see anything wrong at all. I only see a cutie all decked out for Easter. BTW, I think it is good that we can look back at our work and realize that we’ve gotten better at our craft.
I hope you have a blessed Easter with your family, Jeanne.
HI Cindy and Happy Easter to you too1
Thanks for the compliments on my girls Easter Baskets… yes, they do take time, but to me, that’s an “art project” and classified as “fun!” not work…
I can see a huge difference in my things from a few years back and the ones I make today. I guess we are always fine tuning our patterns and our fit on the dolls. I wish I still had the pictures from my early Felicity dresses… they were quite fancy and as the years go by I’m forgetting what they looked like. I’d love to see them again…
I plan on having a nice day with friends and family… there’s a picnic after our church service on the church grounds… but it’s 60% chance of rain and breezy. My hubby was supposed to set up tents which is fine, but if the wind blows they can bend and if it rains they can’t be put away until they dry or they’ll mildew… I’m praying it doesn’t rain…
Thanks Cindy,
I looked at your little dresses before I even got out of bed this morning, but haven’t commented yet… so adorable…
Happy Easter Cindy,
Blessings, Jeanne
All your tiny Easter baskets are wonderful! Where on Earth do you find those miniature chicks? And eggs? The baskets really say, “It’s time for Easter!” Love seeing all your archived dresses since I’ve only been on your blog for a little while now.
I wish you and your family a very blessed Easter!
HI Karen,
I think I got the baby chicks at Hobby Lobby or Joann Fabrics… I got the tiny eggs at Hobby Lobby…
Oh good, I’m glad you’re seeing some of my things for the first time…I forget that I have new subscribers come aboard all the time… :o) Glad you are enjoying yourself…
…and I wish You and Your family a very happy Easter!
Blessings, Jeanne
The dresses are adorable…I especially like the pink eyelet one! Happy Easter Jeannie…I enjoy you blogs.
Suzanne
HI Suzanne,
Well, it appears everyone really likes Isabelle in her pale pink eyelet dress! She is a little cutie isn’t she?
I’m glad you enjoy reading what I ramble about!
Blessings to you and Happy Easter,
~ Jeanne
Happy Easter! Beautiful Easter photos of your dolls!
Thanks so much Suzanne,
Blessings, Jeanne
Absolutely loved seeing your little sweeties. My favorite, Isabelle’s pink number. Love the chenille grass too. Perfect. Heading to our daughters tomorrow to play with the grand kids. Have a good one.
HI Joy,
Yes, chenille makes great grass! Another favorite for Isabelle’s dress. Thank you!
I hope you have a wonderful time at your daughters and enjoy those grands! :o)
Have a very Happy Easter, Joy,
Blessings, Jeanne
Speaking of chicks, how are yours doing? Another picture, please.
All of the dresses and baskets are wonderful. If Joy hadn’t pointed it out, I wouldn’t have noticed the chenille grass in Isabelle’s pictures — it worked very nicely. I especially liked the blue fabric with Riley’s dark hair. Surely that’s another of the favorites you were sorry to see the last of. There used to be a huge market for Riley — I don’t know if there is still a sizable enough one to make buying another worthwhile, but I do love seeing the pictures from your archives.
Happy Easter to everyone on your list, and to you and your family,
Marilyn
Hi Marilyn,
The baby chicks are growing like crazy…I’ll try and take a picture of them tomorrow when the sun is shining in my living room. They are all growing feathers on their wings and acting like toddlers instead of babies… :o)
Riley did used to have a HUGE following and then it sort of dwindled down. I think my average price for a dress for Riley was $37 and it just wasn’t worth my time to sew for her. But it took me a long time to let her go. A lot of ladies didn’t like sewing for her, but I didn’t mind… Like I said though, it would be fun to give her patterns a little tweak and see how I could get them to fit better. I was learning then and I’m still learning now1
A very Happy Easter to you too, Marilyn,
Blessings, Jeanne
Seeing all those cute Easter dresses and baskets and poses from the girls was fun. Lian’s dress at the top is so beautiful. I’m partial to Lian for some reason and I think her coloring is perfect for all the fabrics you’ve used for her to model. She looks nice in every outfit you photograph her in.
Have a Blessed Easter everyone.
HI Paula,
Thank you very much for your kind compliments on my girls dresses and their baskets. I so enjoy sewing and only wish I had more time to do it more on a steady basis. But I do what I can when I can… Lian is a very special doll in my collection as is Isabelle. Lian is extremely photogenic I think. Isabelle is sometimes and sometimes she has this fuzzy glow to her pictures and I can’t quite figure it out…
Have a wonderful Easter Paula… I know you will!
Blessings, Jeanne
Oh, You can’t beat those Kish Girls!!!! They are just so cute. I love them! They are the last dolls that I got hooked on. I have 5 8 ” 2 10.5″ 2 12″ 4 14″ and 2 18″ seasons. I have a large doll collection and at 75 years old think that I should start and downsize . You sure do a great job in sewing for all dolls. They are all so beautiful. Happy Easter to one and all. Sylvia
Thank you Sylvia,
I’m so happy that you enjoy your Kish dolls so much! I used to have 4 different Rileys, An Mei, Wren, Song, 2 Bitty Bethany’s, 16″ Winter and Fall Seasons… (I think that’s all…)
Wren was my last one to go and I truly hated to see her leave, but the market for selling her things bottomed out and I had to move on…
Thank you very much for your kind compliments on my dolls and my sewing.
I think at 75 years old you should do just what you want! Come on…. buy another doll!
Have a very Happy Easter, Sylvia,
Blessings, Jeanne
All of the dresses are just darling. I noticed Samantha’s lilac dress has the big sleeves. Thanks for the lovely petticoat. I’ll study your directions and see if I can make a satisfactory one. I too wonder where you find the very tiny Easter bunnies and baskets.
Happy Easter
HI Susette,
Thanks for your kind words about my doll dresses, Susette. Samantha’s dress was really pretty in person, but my pictures are horrible. Those are the pictures I used in my ebay auction and it’s a wonder it sold, but it did!
I’m glad you slip arrived and be my guest to copy it if you can…
I get the bunnies and baskets at craft stores, thrift shops, Joann’s when I see them, Hobby Lobby, etc… I think my mind is just trained to see little things and go, “yes…that will work for my dolls!”
Have a wonderful Easter Day,
Blessings, Jeanne
The soothing pastels of your dresses are to me, a “trademark” of your work…soothing, serene and PRETTY! Especially like Isabelle, dress…but especially the “grass”. All lovely.
Enjoy the benefits of Easter.
Thank you Becky,
Wow… another compliment for Isabelle’s dress… I’ll be sure and tell her how much everyone liked her dress… now she’ll want the mint green for herself too!
I hope your Easter Day is filled with lots of love Becky,
Blessings, Jeanne
I thought Patsy and Elin were the cutest until I saw Isabelle…honestly the dresses and the background and the baskets…and the hats. Couldn’t be cuter
Have an awesome Easter with your family!
Thank you Kathie,
I appreciate your kind compliments on my dresses Kathie. I just like to sew for little child like dolls… I have the best job ever! …and you fix the dolls.. maybe you think your job is the best!
I plan on having a nice day with friends and family… and a picnic to boot!
Happy Easter Kathie,
Blessings, Jeanne
I love Patsy with the straw hat and cute basket, also love Isabelle’ dress. I have always loved eyelet material and pink even more so. Hope that you and your family have a blessed Easter and all of you blog readers too!
HI Regina,
Thank you for your lovely comments on my Easter dresses and baskets. It’s fun for me to look them over too in one big bunch.
Yes, I’m planning on having a wonderful day and hope your day is wonderful too!
Blessings to you Regina,
