I went into town today and my car made a beeline for Hobby Lobby. Trust me, it knows the way all my itself! I probably wouldn’t even have to be behind the wheel and my car could find the store and park the car. They had “things” on sale… things that I needed…wanted!
I picked up a couple rolls of tulle (netting) in pink, white and ivory. It makes perfect little girl slips! (dolly slips that is…) I also saw they have started carrying the stretch lace that I use when making my American Girl Fingerless gloves, in Ivory! They have always only carried the white in my store. So I was very excited to see the ivory. Now I have no excuse to get more dolly gloves made and listed in our Etsy shop. I also picked up a roll of pretty pink and white ruffled lace. I see it on one of my slips…
I have also decided on the next dress I’ll be making. See if you can guess what style I’m going to make from this. Rebecca already has the necklace made and it’s a beauty!
Well, I know this was short, but I’m off to put away my new goodies and cut out that dress!
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
Can’t wait to see it. My car knows the way to all my favorite fabric stores as well. 🙂 What size wire does your daughter use for the necklaces? I have only used string or elastic and just don’t know which size wire to use for it. Have a great day Jeanne!
HI Christine,
I think most ladies who sew or craft, have a car that knows how to get to Joann Fabrics or Hobby Lobby…. :o)
As far as the wire goes for the necklaces Rebecca makes, I’ll have to ask her. I’ve made a note and will get back with you. I went into her room and I see her wire, but she has all different sizes…so it may depend on her beads…

I am totally in favor of training our vehicles to automatically find their way to our favorite locations. They {who are these “they’s”??} say repetition is the best form of training!!
I love your red fabric and soon to be attached lace trim & Rebecca has hit it out of the part on that necklace. She is an artistically talented girl just as her mother is. Runs in the blood. Lucky girl !!
Thank you Jeannie,
I think all seamstresses’ have “trained cars!”
I made in a dent in the next dress, but I have a meeting this evening, so I’m not sure I can get it finished, but I’ll try… Yes, Rebecca is VERY talented at her jewelry making!

Happy Sunday to you, Jeannie. I got that same tulle from Hobby Lobby and returned 2 of the 3 rolls. Tulle and I just don’t go together. It twisted up when I added a row of stitches for gathering (so no way to add a second without getting nutty) and wanted to get eaten up by the machine. It kind of made me crazy so back it went. Your slips are so pretty. The roll of red tulle that I used already will make nice garland for the tree next year. LOL!
That ivory lace you’re using for your next dress is yummy. It will be beautiful with Rebecca’s red necklace. What a sweet daughter you have! Hope you get lots of sewing done today.
Hi Cindy,
I generally use the tulle on the bolts and just cut it, but I saw these were on sale yesterday at Hobby Lobby, so I thought I’d give them a try… I’ll have to let you know any secrets or tips if I get it to work for me…One thing I do know is I start out with a slip of paper underneath the end so it doesn’t get eaten down into the machine…
I laughed at your red tulle that will be used for garland next year! too funny!
I’ve been debating about that lace now…it’s awfully busy now that the dress bodice is constructed…we’ll have to see…

I love Hobby Lobby, I always find something there to purchase. My grandson calls it Hobby Hobby he likes to go there too! I’m guessing you will be making a dress for Caroline. Such pretty fabric and lace. The necklace is very pretty.
Hi Regina,
That’s right…train those youngsters right from the start to like Hobby Lobby, then when they get big enough, they’ll buy you Gift Cards from there for your birthday and Christmas!!!
You might be right on the dress… we’ll see…
Blessings, Jeanne
Good morning! Did I see the words “another dress?” Wonder who it’s for? The material, lace and necklace are beautiful. You always make such good choices in what you put together.
I am thinking of making our car head to the nearest American Girl store out here where you used to live!!!! Can’t decide for what but it will be happy hunting though. Dolls or furniture??
Have a great day! Can’t wait to see your new dress!
Hi Paula,
If I lived out there, we’d go the American Girl Store together! Wouldn’t that be fun?
Let me know if you find anything you can’t live without…
Blessings, Jeanne
