Hi everyone,
Thanks for all your wonderful comments yesterday… especially about Deb and Mike’s new little bundle of joy! (the 4 legged kind!) We sat around last night just calling out names for their new pup and then we all went to bed… still with a nameless dog.
Then, when Deb and Mike got up, they took the little guy outside and they were talking and both remembered a character in the Charles Dickens novel called, “Martin Chuzzlewit”. Chuffey was his name and he was a good friend, plus Deb said they just liked the sound of the name…she said it sounded pleasant and comfortable. So, the new puppy’s name is Chuffey! Sounds like Fluffy! (you were almost right, Charlotte!) Now that the little cutie has a name, he can get used to it when they call him. Chuffey is smart as a whip… He’s only 8 weeks old, but he is already letting them know when he has to go out and when they tell him it’s time to go in, he heads to the door and even climbs up 2 steps into her dining room!! All-By-Himself! I have taken SO many pictures of the little fella, I have a few more pictures to share.
His tail has a few white tufts at the end that look just like a tip of a paintbrush at times…
He likes to hop out in the grass JUST LIKE A BUNNY! It is the cutest thing ever!
He also LOVES to cuddle and take naps in people’s laps!
I think he looks like a teddy bear!
Okay, that’s all of Chuffey today… we’ll let him grow a bit and then I’ll have Deb share some more pictures! :o)
Finding a name for Chuffey was a big Success!
Now let me share a failure…
Remember those leather shoes of my hubby’s that had come apart at the soles? Remember I told him I was sure I could get them back together and he could wear them again?
I put some blue painter’s tape on the leather part of the shoe to keep it from getting any glue or marks on it.
I used some silicone and filled in the little 1/2″ spaces in the inside heel section of the shoes. I thought this would make it a little cushy when he walked… The clip is to hold the upper part of the shoe from touching the bottom while it was drying.
Then I put the glue around the edges of the soles and along the area “below” the blue tape on the shoe uppers and put the shoes back together, tucking the glued part to the inside and adding 2 clamps to hold them in place. The clamp was pushing down on inside on both sides. Then I wrapped a couple paper towels around the top of the shoe and added a few rubberbands.
I let them dry for 2 days and was sure they would work…
On day two, I peeled off the blue tape and got any glue that may have squished out off the soles. He wore them around the house for about 30 minutes while he was getting ready to go to the dentist. He said they seemed okay, so he was going to wear them. He made it to the dentist, walked into the dentist, walked back out to the car, drove home, got out of the car, walked across the driveway, walked up the steps, and had a BLOW OUT just as he was coming in the door. It was flopping on his foot and he asked, “Which one did you fix?” I said, “that one!” I wanted to cry, but I didn’t. I guess Dolls aren’t as hard on their shoes as people are… so I’ll stick to dolly cobblering! :o)
I’ll see you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
Chuffy!!!
I love that name, he is the cutest pup ever!
I used to have a tube of “shoe goo” in the shoe box of laces and polish!!
I think it was for fixing those two pieces. Either case, oh well, nice attempt.
I never used the shoe goo, it was still in the package. I think I bought it to seal a crack in a rubber soled show, but maybe I used glue gun instead? I think I still have those shoes for tramping around in the gardens and they still stuck, but
not sure why, it was certainly a different kind of crack/disconnection.
Anyway, great attempt, Jeanne
Here it is a hottie outside. this week I want to rent a little truck and pack up our beds and end tables and put them in and move them to the new house. I must be crazy because that is probably impossible to do. — weight wise. Not sure any of that is going to happen.
I did some yard prettyfying here and got five mosquito bites. They are nasty itchy.
Happy Tuesday everyone.
What a cute name for a cute pup! Yes, we will be watching for updates on how he grows!
Well, I had the same problem with one of my shoes, Sketchers, and since they really were on their last legs (or soles), I just had to pitch them, but I really miss them, and they gave me years of wear. They just don’t make them like they used to, do they? Where are all the shoe repair shops now? It must be a dying art!
In case anyone is interested, there is a Queen’s Treasures pup on their website that looks almost exactly like Chuffey, but since Queens Treasures is going out of business, he won’t be there forever.
Dear Linda, I did not know that Queen’s Treasures was going out of business. Our Doll Club planned to visit there for a tour and shopping a while back but something came up, I can’t remember what, and we never made it. I am sad that we won’t get to go there now.
Yes, Dorothy, she is getting older and the tariffs are not helping, so she is closing shop. They have some really cute things still there though, mostly online, but I never knew about the physical store.
Dear Jeanne, whatever his name, the little fluff ball doggie is adorable!
I am sorry about the shoe. I bet you can come up with another idea.
Can we really be in the second week of June? Time is truly roller skating by so quickly.
Glad pup has a cute name with history. Although, I may have picked Scruffy. Ha ha
As to the shoe failure problem. I didn’t see what kind of glue was used? Maybe I missed it. Was the glue new or questionable? I know there is some super strong glue maybe E6000 or something like that that holds everything. Maybe try again with different adhesive and have George put on the shoe to hold it together while it dries. That even pressure might help bond the pieces back together. Of course, if I was doing the job, I’d probably glue other person’s foot to the shoe. 🙂
Well, I had planned to get out early in the back to tackle some weed patches before the sun hit, but after our walk, we got waylaid. There was a large branch that had fallen and was being held by other branches up in one of our sycamore trees. We’d talked about getting it down before it could fall and land on someone or little Winnie next door. So, that came back into the picture as a project. After looking at the tree and the protruding limbs, a plan was devised. We carried the heavy very big ladder from the side of the house to the front yard. This is the ladder we use to reach the second story of the house. Got the thing situated and balanced up in the tree branches. Other person climbed up to check it out. He couldn’t quite reach the end of the branch from the ladder, so I used the old throw a rope over it with a slip knot and then we could pull it out of the tree since it was loose already. Other person tried, but couldn’t get the rope to fall properly. I suggested that a weight tied to the end of the rope was needed. I know we used that technique at the cabin to fall a tree years ago. Or maybe that was when we used a bow and arrow and shot a line up through the tree to fish up a rope to tie that tree to the other side of the river so it would fall away from the cabin. Anyway, off I trudged to the garage to look for something to tie to the end of the rope. I was thinking of a large washer, but then my eyes spotted a roll of duct tape. Heavy and the perfect size. Back to the tree base I went. Tied the rope to the tape and in seconds, other person had the rope over the branch. Lowered it to the ground and with a slipknot, grasped the branch. Down from the ladder, other person started yanking the branch. We both tried, but it was difficult. Finally, a position in the street was perfect and a big yank and down it fell. It really was big and glad that we got it out of the tree. Of course, my main job was clean up of leaves and fallen branches, but it didn’t take all that long. I guess it was about six inches in diameter, but it was a big branch. Other person cut up the big pieces with the reciprocating saw and I packed the mess into the yard can. Last thing, we had to carry that hunk of a ladder back down across the lawn and deposit it on the side of the house for the next event. Glad that is done, and now it’s back to the weeds again.
I forgot. While up in the tree, a guy drove buy and slowed and said,
“Cat in the tree!” We started laughing. 🙂
Thanks for sharing all the pictures of Chuffy!!! He is soo cute!! This morning I got to see 2 Blue Heeler puppies! They were really friendly and had floppy ears, but they weren’t as cute as Chuffy 🙂 Could you take a video of him hopping in the grass? I would love to see him. He looks so sweet sleeping being held. 🩷
J had trouble with his nice leather shoes coming apart, too. He put something called E6000 Industrial Strength on them, and I think it has been working.
Have a great day all!
