My long distance sewing project…

Hi everyone,
My sister, Cindy, and her hubby, picked me up Friday and we headed to Deb’s, in Springfield, Missouri…
Their new little puppy was picked up just a few hours before we arrived and IS HE ADORABLE!! They are still trying to find the right name for him…if you think you have a new name we haven’t thought of, you would most likely be wrong…Deb has pages of names.

He’s the sweetest little Cavapoo… a cross between a Cavalier King Charles and a poodle.

Deb’s granddaughter’s came over to see the puppy and he had a wonderful time with them… mostly with all the belly rubs…

Isn’t he adorable? We all sure think so.

Deb asked me for a small favor… could I make her a new Bible cover? She actually wanted one made out of a wool plaid… like these she found on Etsy…

So, we began looking for wool plaids IN JUNE and that was pretty much impossible to find… (we thought maybe we could find a pretty plaid wool skirt or jumper, but we couldn’t) We did find some great Harris plaid tweeds that were beautiful but the shipping from the UK was quite high… so we went to Hobby Lobby and decided on an upholstery fabric and started…

I drafted a pattern and began trying to put it together… it was a bit more complicated and took much longer than I thought. The fabric was a bit too thick, the only pair of scissors that would cut through the fabric were some hair cutting scissors Cindy brought with her, and Deb’s sewing machine really had a workout trying to go through all the layers with interfacing.

We wanted to center the design on the front of the cover and it was quite the challange trying to “fussy cut” it and get the cover to wrap around and match on top… it took several tries and many “fittings!”

Finally, all the pieces of the puzzle came together…

Mission accomplished in Missouri!

See you tomorrow!
Blessings, Jeanne

Oh that puppy, Jeanne,…. ADORABLE! You will have to let us know what name they picked out,for sure! I bet “going to Grandma’s” at Deb’s house is going to be so much fun for the girls, and rightfully so! I also wonder how big he will get when fully grown?

That Bible cover is just perfect, even though you didn’t find the kind of material she wanted. I think the one she did pick is actually the better choice. What a perfect matching of the pattern! And too, fun to see all three of you together figuring thngs out!

So your weekend certainly turned out to be a good one and I hope you didn’t have too much rain! We are soaked!!
