I’m hoping this is the last day of the “smiling” pictures… I have things to share and new things to tell you… in pictures, that is…
But for today, I’ll have to share a few more pictures that I went through and these did bring a smile to my face… I hope they make you smile too.
I was looking for something in my “Ebay notebook” today where everything I’ve ever sold is written down and happened to run across the page where this next dress I made for Stella sold. It was my “Record Breaker!” I wrote that at the top of the page… It was called Farmer’s Market and I had 1047 hits or views on it while it was up for auction… and there were 63 watchers! I never forgot that! The winner sent me a picture of her dolls in the set. She was thrilled, about as much as I was! :o)
Hannah (my niece) had some kind of dress up day at her school and Cindy fixed her hair like Cindy Lou on the Grinch… Isn’t it fabulous?
Alba, Edgar and Sara… Oh how I miss them…
Well, this will have to do for the weekend… I hope you have a wonderful one… I plan to! And remember, keep smiling! :o)
See you Monday,
Blessings, Jeanne
Well, that first picture made me laugh right out loud! My great-aunt Olga used to make all us girls pjs for Christmas every year, and I don’t know if she used all the same fabric or not, but I know she made mine the same size as my cousin Carol’s–we’re the same age, but of course, I’m much shorter than she is (even now) and I always had to wait a couple of years before I could wear them! So frustrating….
So many beautiful dolls in today’s pictures, too, I can’t begin to mention them all. I sure remember that “Farmer’s Market” outfit, Jeanne, and what an exciting auction that was to watch! I do love the “sisters” in yellow–such a cute picture, and darling outfits.
What a nice picture of Alba, Edgar and Sara; do you hear from them very often? Sara must be in her early 20s by now.
What a surprise to see a picture of me holding our first (and so far only) great-grandchild, little Skyler. He’s 2-1/2 now, and such a sweetheart! Time does fly.
Oh, I have to ask, what is that ginormous thing someone is sewing on?! Good thing there was plenty of nearby table space to set it on as she sewed.
And is that your mom and a very young Rebecca on the merry-go-round? That would be my first choice of rides at any fair or carnival. There are two beautiful merry-go-rounds in the Seattle area that I know of, one at the Puyallup fairgrounds (wish they had it open and running when we had Expo there!!) and one at the Enchanted Village theme park (Federal Way, I think).
Dear Charlotte, how lovely to see you holding your little guy. And yes, time does go by so quickly. Every moment is truly precious.
Thank you, Dorothy. And yes, time flies (as I’m finding out this week, preparing for my trip to Michigan!).
Oh, Charlotte, my favorite of all the photos, you and that sweet babe. I am so happy to see that.
Thank you so much, Sissy.
Charlotte, what a sweet picture of you and your dear little great grandson! Something to treasure!
That first picture gave me the giggles too, but it seems that that is what people do now at Christmas with the whole family wearing matching pj’s!
Thank you so much, Linda.
You’re right–I hadn’t thought about that, with the matching PJs in Christmas pictures, etc.!!
Charlotte that ginormous ‘thing’ was the huge quilt I was finishing for our exhibition about three years ago. I called it my anaconda. The legs you can see are Sams. I will never do that again!
Thanks, Anne. I can see why you called it your anaconda!! I vaguely remember your talking about that quilt, but had forgotten about the picture.
Another wonderful great collection of memories!
Gorgeous photos and lovely people and dolls!
Your daughter’s hair is incredible!
The piano movers will be here momentarily!
I hope all of you have a delightful Friday and week-end.
Jeanne, I might send you some funny photos at some time in the future of my new sewing space and my old sewing space. Just a lot of adjustment but it will be good
Charlotte, I always always love your daily comments
I’d love to see how they move a piano. Hope it goes well. 🙂
What type of piano is it? We had some friends that moved from California to Colorado and decided moving their baby grand would be too difficult and expensive, so they sold it. In Colorado they bought an electronic piano that they were not pleased with so they sold that and replaced it with a new acoustic piano but this time they bought a Spinet so if they moved again the piano would go too. Our piano, a Baldwin Spinet, was my mother-in-law’s and her mother’s before her. It is as old as I am built in 1946. We moved it from Kansas to Texas. When I finally got around to having it tuned, it was amazing that it needed little. It has a metal soundboard which they don’t do anymore as far as I know so it’s worth keeping in the family. We probably will pass it on to Sean and his family if we move since my back won’t let me play it much anyway.
Good luck with the move, Rosemary. I remember when the piano movers moved our from the old house to here. Amazing that they are a separate moving company.
Thank you, Rosemary; I love reading yours, also.
When I was a kid and we moved, the movers always seemed to know what to do with the piano, and that was that. I think “piano movers” is a newer specialty, but, considering how many moving parts there are inside a piano, as well as the strings that might need tuning if the piano is jarred too much, etc., I can see why a special mover might be a good idea. My folks always had a medium-size grand, and it really killed me to have to let it go after my dad died, but it would have taken up close to half my living room, and there’s already too much stuff in there! I did write a note and stuck it inside the papers that went with it, in the piano bench for its new owners.
Thanks for sharing all the pictures, Jeanne! Our lives are full of numerous blessings, aren’t they?
Karen, such a sweet photo, loved it!
I noticed Dominic had his first tooth yesterday! (On the feast of the Ascension :))
Dear Karen, blessings for your son with his new tooth. I am betting his big sisters are excited to watch him as he grows.
Thank you, Dear Dorothy and the World! 🙂 They sure do enjoy him. He moves himself around by crawling with his arms. He is pretty cute. Hope you are having a wonderful May 😊
What a lucky little baby boy to have such a wonderful family to spoil him and give him kisses, Karen! That is a darling picture of you and him together! We might need to see him again to see how much he has grown!
Dear Jeanne, what lovely photos. As May is gliding away (sad face), I welcome this opportunity to smile.
I loved seeing the photo of Sara. She was a beautiful young lady and I know she enjoyed spending time with you.
I recognized some of the photos. I think the piano/violin recital is adorable.
I don’t remember the sewing photo or the carousel photo.
Well, Happy end of May to you and the Sofa Sisters. “See” you all next month!
Yes, Dorothy, I was thinking the same about Edgar Alba and Sara. I wonder if Jeanne hears from them. They were such a lovely family.
Sure hope we get some identities here. I recognize most of the photos, but not when taken or what’s going on. Except the one of middle grand and me. Oh my, who is that old bag? Well, at least I’ve lost 30 pounds since then and hopefully look better. Eye bags remain though. My Ginny doll wardrobes are still with the grands. Recently, they were having contests for best dressed with a theme. 🙂
I haven’t had an update on Coco the cat after my cat finding and catching experience yesterday. She was at the vet, having tests, and on an IV, but I’m not losing faith as she is a spunky one. Time will tell. Go glad that she is at least out of the horrible heat and not hiding under a bush anymore.
Today is going to be another scorcher here. In the 90’s, so hopefully, we’ll get in an early walk and then some errands. My Monday delivery has been changed to today. Yikes, no plans at this point as to how to disguise an extra large doll box. Hope the poor thing is keeping cool as she is in the truck and out for delivery after a redeye flight from the east coast last night. Another hot day tomorrow too, and then some relief hopefully. Seeds look fine after yesterday’s heat yay, but I’ll be back out in the heat sprinkling them this afternoon.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone.
It always upsets me when animals and small children are not feeling well. You can see the fear and confusion in their eyes and they can’t tell you what is wrong. So glad you got Coco some help and hope that she will pull through fine. I recognized you and your grand Landry. I think it’s a great picture and what a great collection of Ginny dolls.
Hi Joy, again I’m so glad you find Coco and that she is getting treatment. I hope that she will be just fine. At least she’s in a safe place now.
Good luck with your dolly caper. I guess this girl it too big to disguise as socks.
Yes, but that gave a nice laugh. This is a Meadow girl the size of Jeanne’s Mae, but a different mold. So, a pretty large box.
TKS on Coco.
Great to see you again, Joy, I love the photo! So glad you found the kitty and hope you find out how she is and let us know. I am still waiting for my Angie from Charlene. She didn’t send a tracking #. How about yours?
Sissy, I got tracking from UPS, not Charlene. She did arrive quickly though. 🙂
Dear Joy, I can’t wait to hear how the latest caper works out! Please let us know next week. Happy end of May.
Joy, so that was a picture of you! You don’t look like you needed to lose 30 pounds there, youlook perfectly fine to me! Your granddaughter is a cutie!
You are so kind. Much happier now without the excess baggage. 🙂 Thanks on grand.
Fun way to close out the week. Yes, that first photo is very funny. Very nice to see Charlotte with her great grandson, Karen with Dominic, Joy with her granddaughter, Landry, and Anne again. Lots of lovely doll photos, and Paula’s niece’s sweet furbaby, Holly. I see Rebecca and you mom at the end. We have a indoor carousel about ten or so miles up the road. We used to go often as it had unusual animals. It’s definitely my first choice of ride at out County Fair.
Jeanne, I am so glad you had more of these, I almost fell over when I saw the first one with all the same fabric, too funny. I was happy to see Debbie’s dolls with the Valentine one I made for her. I saw so many I remembered, they must have been before my long time without the blog. I know you and all of us would like to see your blog back together but we have enjoyed these this week. Hope you have a good and productive weekend.
Late again today! I had my grandson over today and had to get ready, so didn’t get to comment although I did read the blog early. I like to see what everyone says, and be able to comment on what they say, and you can’t do that too early in the morning. I really like seeing the “ people pictures” and wish we knew who they are, bur eventually we do find out.
I do remember seeing g the dolls in the china cabinet, so pretty, and the colonial dolls all dressed up too! Love those dresses!
I see Susette’s dolls getting ready for the prom, and playing their instruments! Such wonderful pictures!
This certainly was a fun week but I know you are anxious to get back to your sewing!
What a super set of photos. Maybe you could do something like this every month.
