More Dolly Dresses in the Easter Parade…

The Easter Parade from Past Years that is…

I’m going to continue to show some of the dresses I’ve made for Easter’s in the past. I have found LOTS of pictures in my archived photos and would love to share some more with you.

It would take me too long to look up when these dresses were made but a few of them I have marked, so I’ll tell you when I get to those.

And remember… you can click on them and they will enlarge.

Let’s start off with a bright chartreuse and pink dress set for Noel…

Here is a pretty one in blue and gold for Molly. It had lots of details…

Isabelle was a real beauty in this very bold purple print dress. I remember when I made her bonnet, I just loved how it looked on her… just like a real little girl.

Back in my earlier days, this was an Easter dress I made for Snow White Riley… she looks a little plump in this dress… if I had her now, I’d certainly refine my pattern a bit…

I did a little “assembly line” sewing for these 3 Easter dresses for the 13″ Little Darlings… It was so much fun to sew 3 dresses at the same time and then take pictures of them all together. I really should do this again sometime…

Lian is bright as a bumble bee in her “chicks” dress set…accented in black. I loved this one…

Here is Janie in the dress… I couldn’t decide who I liked best in it.

Here is Ten Ping in her earlier days in a sweet pink Easter dress. My pictures didn’t turn out very well and I’m not sure what I did wrong.

Here are 2 dresses I made back in 2007 for Molly and Samantha…

Well, that’s it for day 2 of the Easter Parade! I hope you enjoyed it!

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Oh, I think that purple outfit on Isabelle is one of my most favorite of all the things you’ve made. I love the three “sisters” outfits, too, as well as the black and yellow one with the chicks on the skirt. I think that short blonde wig is my favorite on Janie.

Lots of good eye candy tonight, Jeanne, as I have so many favorites.

I was reading the comments from yesterday’s blog, and someone mentioned saving the top of their wedding cake. We did that, and ate it on our first anniversary, or maybe it was the Sunday after our anniversary when we had dinner at my folks’ (it was in mom and dad’s freezer; we didn’t have one big enough to hold it adequately). It actually didn’t taste too bad, for having been in the freezer a year.

It was white with lavender trim (I know, you’re all Terribly surprised!! πŸ˜‚) with bunches of frosting lilacs here and there around the top (as were all the tiers of our wedding cake).

Charlotte, We were Matron of honor and best man for dear friends from The Netherlands 3 years ago. The top of their cake is STILL IN OUR FRIDGE!! They are both in the service there and have not been able to come back yet. I cannot imagine it would take like anything, LOL!

      1. Charlotte Trayer

Oh, my!! Well, I guess when they finally get back there, you will find out if it tastes like anything!! πŸ˜‚

    2. I just found the photo album of our wedding that I made for mom and dad, mainly because I do not remember anything about that day!!! haha
I was in such a daze.
The Holiday Inn in Alexandria is where we had our reception (fancy one)
and they wrapped up all of cake and wrapped the top in saran wrap and then some other insulated bag. It stayed frozen the whole year. haha and it tasted fresh.

Well, I’m sure you will not be surprised to know that Molly’s first outfit you showed is my absolute favorite, Jeanne! What I wouldn’t give to have that one!
Isabelle’s purple dress is another favorite of mine! The sisters dresses too, the yellow and black chick dress is also darling! Well, on and on, they all showcase how sweet all those dresses are, and what a wonderful seamstress you are!

About wedding cakes, I honestly don’t remember if we saved the top layer of our cake or not. It wasn’t one of those huge cakes, since I wanted a smaller cake that I had seen displayed in a McCall’s magazine, so took that picture to a local bakery for them to make. It had just three tiers right on top of each other and decorated with frosting roses. No bride and groom at the top, but a cross with two intertwined rings on it. I still have that cross, but no cake, just 58 years of wedded bliss! 😊

      1. Linda in St. Louis

I think you had better eat that cake top, if it ever thaws out Rosemary! What are you waiting for?😊

    1. Charlotte Trayer

How fortunate you are to have had each other for 58 years, Linda. We made it to our 50th, but we were older when we were married (I was 28, he was 41), so I knew we’d be doing well if we made it that far!

I do still have the topper for our cake–ours was a satin bell (I think just one, but might have been two, but it’s in the basement!) with some flowers around it. It was fairly simple, but pretty.

We did receive one of those crosses with the entwined rings as a wedding gift, and it’s on the wall at the top of the stairs.

  3. All of these dresses are super pretty. I love the fabric choices!
    wow, adorable scenes too Jeanne.
Today is dark and dreary and we are to have pouring rain all day and into tomorrow.
I have made a list of things to accomplish. Let’s see if I can win a medal haha
Enjoy this day and happy week-end too.

I am enjoying seeing the Easter dress parade as it processes along in front of the “sofa.” I can hear the Sisters oohing and aahing for certain dresses. They are all lovely!

Great seeing more Easter frocks. Always delightful.
Here, no Easter dress even started. Been on that grab a weed and pull it kick. When I’m done for the allotted time, my fingers don’t feel like doing much sewing, but I did manage to order another Ruby Red which is already in route and to be delivered Monday. RRed is getting all dolls out asap so they are here before May 2nd. If you have been on the fence for one of the dolls, now is the time to order. πŸ™‚
On to another lovely sunny day. πŸ™‚

  6. What a sweet set of dresses. Molly’s is very pretty. I love the buttons done that way. I love the blue one of the three sister dresses. The bird print is lovely. The chick one is darling! So sunny looking and cheerful.

We’re back to winter here. ugh! In the mid 30’s this morning! The daffodils, magnolias and other spring flowers and trees are not happy.

    Hi Jeanne!
I always feel bad reading your wonderful blog and not taking the time to comment but today I just had to. I’m so happy to hear George’s procedures have gone so well. One more to go and then you both deserve and nice vaca! I had to chuckle at your “cement pond” comment, you got a little bit of rain, didn’t you? lol I love how you see past objects and their everyday use and reimagine a new use for it. What a beautiful hat you made with a thrift store find. You are too clever! Thank you for sharing this year’s, Easter Parade. You know how much I enjoy seeing all your lovely ensembles from the past. They are all so pretty and impeccably made! I’d be hard pressed to pick a favorite, so I’ll just say I love them ALL! Also thank you for sharing photos from some of our sofa sisters. Susette’s dolls are adorable, but that croquet set makes the sweetest accessory! love it. Charlottes girls all grouped together are super cute. I think the dresses are all so different who knew you could create so many different looks with trim and lace! So adorable! Linda’s girls all in white have to be the sweetest group ever. I love little girls in white dresses and always love Linda’s vignettes she makes. Linda, you have that special artistic touch! Well done!
Sissy, prayers for your hubby for a quick and complete healing. Men can get into things can they not? My hubby retired this January and finds all kinds of projects that end up bruising and making him bleed. Last week he was cutting a Hawthorn down and a branch swung out and caught him on the neck and shoulder. He’s not supposed to injury himself as he’s still healing from a right-side total hip replacement, and a infection could be very dangerous for him. Most times he is not even aware he’s bleeding but this time it hurt and he came in for a Band-Aid… I just shake my head, clean his boo boo’s and bite my tongue. Today he casually mentioned he was going to throw away two old ladders and go out and buy a bigger/taller one… oh boy, yikes…. keep your lips zipped Ingrid!

I’m writing this very late so I’m going to bed and will post this to Fridays post.
    Hugs and happy Friday everyone!
    Ingrid
PS… More Easter Parade yeah! Jeanne, oh how I wish you took orders. I won Connie Lowes lottery a few weeks ago. So a OOAK Milk Chocolate 41cm Stella is now mine! I’m so excited but I cannot find a sewist that’s offering a pretty girlie girl dress for her anywhere. Looks like I might have to dust off my sewing machine!

Thank you for the kind words for my Peyton, Ingrid. His fingers are less swollen but the area in the center of his hand is still red, swollen, and painful. We pray that the infection doesn’t spread.
Your guy sounds like a busy man. Hope his hip heals quickly like Peyton’s did.

I’m in no way suggesting you circumvent anything the doctor says but you could add this to it. My mother was a nurse and whenever we would get a cut that looked like it was heading for infection my mother put ichthammol ointment (drawing salve) on a band-aid and covered the wound. It draws out the infection. I’ve had a lot of experience with this as has the rest of my family and we always keep a tube handy. We swear by it. David had a problem with a splinter one time and couldn’t get it out it was so deep. We used the ichthammol treatment on it and within a day he could pull out the splinter. Then he kept the treatment going until any infection was gone. If you have a CVS they usually have it. Walgreen I’m not sure because it’s cheap, effective and doesn’t require a doctor’s prescription so they’re not happy about it.

        1. Sissy Lingle on the GA coast

Thank you, Barbara, I have written it down, but I doubt it would work on his hand. The infection came from a place on his hand that has been there for years, just a hard place in the hand. Suddenly he woke up a few mornings ago with a red, painful, swollen hand, no cuts or scratches anywhere. It came from that place in side his hand that sat there for years. It is still red and swollen but the fingers seem to have less red and are a bit less swollen. We are checking for any red streaks which would be a big problem. I will get some of your ointment though, will try anything. Thank you.

    2. Charlotte Trayer

Ingrid, I had to chuckle about your comments about your hubby going for a bigger, taller ladder! When Ron was well over 80, we were at his doctor’s office, and he casually mentioned that he needed to get up and clean off the roof! The doctor told him, in no uncertain terms, that he was TOO OLD to get up on a ladder any more!! That took care of that!! πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ˜‚

  8. Susette from Southern California

All of the dresses are treasures but, of.course, my favorite is Molly in the dress with the flowers and the beautiful blue pinafore. She’s my favorite AG doll and my first as 1941 was my birthday year. Yikes, I must be getting old!

I called Happily Ever After yesterday and they said Evelyn the Fortune Teller RRFF dolls are in their Post Office awaiting instructions for what tariff, if any, is owed before they can be delivered. It’s at least good to know that they got this far and we’re just waiting for them to be ransomed.

  9. Sissy Lingle on the GA coast

Yes, the tariffs are scary, so many dolls are made there. I worry about a Meadow doll I preordered.

Jeanne I love them all of course, but especially Isabel and Molly’s.
Have a good weekend every one.

    1. Joy in northern CA

I understand that it is the country of origin that counts for tariffs. So it they were to go to Sweden and Meadow sends them out, there still would probably be a huge tariff based on being made in China. A lot from Europe or those with P.O. Boxes have their dolls sent to Meadow in Sweden and then she sends them out. Saves those in Europe a tariff I think. But, it all will be interesting in the coming months and not fun.
Hope meds are working for Peyton.

      1. Sissy Lingle on the GA coast

Thank you, Joy, He still has red, swollen, painful hand but it is maybe a bit less swollen in the fingers, but I am still watching carefully for red streaks going up the arm. That would send us to the hospital.
        Thank you for caring.

Showing up late here today but wanted to say I love, love, love all the outfits. I still think Isabel is one of the most beautiful dolls and you are truly blessed to have a doll actually painted by Dianna Effner. I never could get on the wait list so for me that ship has sailed. Looking forward to more lovely Easter finery.
