Hi everyone,
I might be able to answer a few questions….
In the first picture I showed, the one with the cake hats) it has a photo stamp of August 64…(my birthday is in August, so I don’t know if I was 9 or 10, but I’ll just say 9.) That means Cindy was 11 and Bob was 7.
In the pictures with the striped dresses, they were a silky jersy fabric, and I don’t know about Cindy, but I LOVED mine and felt so grown up… my mom didn’t make them, but we bought them. Cindy’s was navy and white striped and mine was navy and ted and white…
I think Deb must have been 3? Not exactly sure.
We all got my dad’s hair…
He had very dark hair and Cindy got the darkest, then Bob and Deb and I got dark brown. My mom had red hair so we all took after daddy.
Well, I hope I answered some of the questions you asked.
Now for today…
We have a special treat for you…Linda is sharing her dolls in their Easter dresses.
Jeanne here are my girls dressed from Easter. There is on picture of Molly’s table fixed up for an Easter brunch,
Here are the modern girls, Emmy with her dress that has tiny bunnies on it, and Ivy and Scarlett in American Girl dresses.
Here is Molly’s table.
Cecile and Kirsten are ready for the Easter parade! I kept Kirsten in her dress for the last batch of pictures, since she looked appropriate for Easter, a d Cecile is wearing Samantha’s Traveling Coat and hat over her Flower Picking dress.
Felicity is wearing her
Summer dress, and some lace gloves from Jeanne Marie!
The 40’s girls are ready for the Easter Parade with their pastel dresses, hats and gloves, all from American Girl. Betsy and Sara have dresses made by Etsy seamstresses. The Easter Bunny was very good to everyone!🐰😊
Love to you, Linda
Thank you Linda, they are SO beautiful!!
Blessings, Jeanne
Something got mixed up there! The first picture is not the modern girls but the 40’s girls, and the modern girls seem to be missing from the group! I’m pretty sure I sent the modern girls pictures, since they came up on my “Sent” emails, so I guess somehtng happened when you put them together, Jeanne. No worries! I know you aren’t home and things might be a bit more difficult to put the blog together.
I just want people to know that, and we can deal with it!.
Me again, Jeanne! I must say you certainly do look like your father! What a nice looking young man he was!
Jeanne, we sure do remember those “special” dresses, don’t we? I remember the year I was 9, my parents were taking me to Ann Arbor (U of Mich. hospital) for testing to find out why I wasn’t growing, and a dear lady in our church bought me a beautiful dress to wear, thinking it would help me feel better about having to go thru this sort of thing. It did, and I can still see it in my mind’s eye–it was a satiny fabric (probably a polished cotton or taffeta) with a small leaf print in greens and golds, with an attached “petticoat” in gold with a green sort-of ruffle attached to the underside, to help the skirt pouf out a little bit. I remember feeling very dressed up in that dress, and I think I wore it for my school pictures that year, too, although normally it was special enough for Sunday-only wear!
Yes, your dad was certainly a good-looking man, and with lots of dark hair (curly, maybe?). My dad had lots of wavy hair when he was young!
What a treat, to see pictures from Linda! Yes, I noticed that was the wrong picture for the first one, too; hopefully Jeanne will be able to fix that so we can all see the picture of Emmy, Ivy, and Scarlett later today. Otherwise, everyone looks so festive in their Easter finery. On Thursday my Molly will be going with me to meet Marika (and her Annie, I’m pretty sure) for lunch. Our girls will be in their Easter finery. Molly’s been trying to convince me she needs a new dress but, frankly, I think she might have more clothes than I do!!
