A little look at the Easter Parade from past years…

Today was another doctor’s trip out of town to get the ultrasound of my hubby’s leg from his surgery last Friday. We got the all-good signal and he’s good for his “final” and fourth surgery later this month. The vein is all closed up and there’s no blood flowing in it. It has to find its way to another healthy vein and join it to ease some of the swelling caused by the blood pooling in his lower leg.

It was a long day with lots of traffic on the interstate and even a wreck with a FedEx truck. There were 3 other FedEx trucks in front of the wrecker… we presumed to pick up the packages in the wrecked truck. I was hoping there weren’t any dolls in there.

I didn’t have a chance to “do” anything in my sewing room, so I decided I’ll show some Easter dresses from the archives. Then you can all comment or just carry on with each other. I have the BEST group of ladies anyone could ever hope to have as subscribers to their blog. You are all so kind and thoughtful and I’m very thankful for each and every one of you! :o)

Okay, so lets see some dolly dresses that have been in past “Easter Parades.” I have NO IDEA how many doll dresses I’ve made just for Easter… but I’ll try and pick out the ones that “scream” Easter, at least for now… here are 10 to get us started…

If you click on the pictures they will enlarge.

Here’s 10″ Patsy Tonner…

Here is Janie, a 13″ Little Darling and Noel, a Boneka doll that’s 10″ tall.

This was 8″ Ten Ping before she had her sweet face re-painted by Lana Dobbs… She turned her from orangish to gorgeous! Those were some of my very first shoes I tried making… using felt.

This is Lian, another 13″ Dianna Effner Little Darling doll in a very pretty smocked Easter dress.

As I was looking for Easter pictures, I ran across this picture. Anyone remember when I said I was going to make it and then we’d share a piece with anyone who wanted a digital slice of cake? OOPS… look like you’ve been waiting for quite some time…since March of 2018!

This is Emmie, another one of my Little Darlings… in a pretty blonde wig. I need to use that on her again. I think she looks sweet as a blonde.

This is Kit in her aqua and white print Easter dress from a really long time ago…actually I think it was 2005, before I was even writing my blog.

Here is Lian again in a bright purple set called “Bunny in my Pocket!” I’ve used that name a few times… :o)

Here is Molly in a bright and colorful dress and cape set. She looks pretty in that color of blue!

And last up today is Noel again, in a dainty and demure Easter set…

Well, that’s ten outfits… I hope to continue the Easter Parade from past years… Hope you’ll stay around.

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

What wonderful news about George’s last surgery! And good to go for his final one.

These definitely look like Easter outfits to me, Jeanne! I think my favorite is the “sisters” outfits worn by Janie and Noel. They remind me very much of an outfit my mother made for me when I was about 8 or 9–a princess-line dress with a very flared skirt (not gathered, flared!) of white with tiny blue rosebuds on it, and a blue linen bolero jacket (from a remnant, as I recall). I’m sure there’s a picture of me in it somewhere, as I think it’s what I wore as flower girl when my grandpa married my step-grandma in about 1954 or so. (My grandma–mom’s mother–died when I was 7.)

I really like Kit’s dress, too–a simple style but made more special by the pretty collar.

So glad to hear that things are going well for George, a d the finish line is in sight for his surgeries! I bet he’s happy too, Jeanne!

I hope you feel a sense of accomplishment when you look back at all the darling doll clothes you have made in the past! I would be bursting my buttons!

That first sister set is so cute with the little capelets that Janie and Noel are wearing! It reminds me of the sister sets my mother made for my sister and me when we were little. Ours were yellow and white organdy dresses, so pretty, but I’m sure were a nightmare for my mother to iron!

Lian’s dress is just so precious with the smocking and pretty puffed sleeves! And Molly is adorable in her flowered outfit that even has a cape!

That cake,”…………I’d love a piece, thank you! Let me know once you pop it into the oven!!

  3. Great terrifical news for George, Wow, that is very comforting progress!
Now I do think we – all of us, need CAKE!.
It is just hubbs and me here…. sometimes I will bake a simple cake, then we have a gobble fest for the day, and then I freeze portions for surprises! Do any of you do that… it is a process that needs uhm, will power. Sort of like when you wrapped your wedding cake top in a zillion layers of plastic wrap to eat a year later! Did you do that?
Funny, I do not even remember what my cake looked like… I will check my wedding album, you know it is sitting right over there in a box packed with all of the special stuff.
The dresses. I can not get over the cuteness of these dresses. All of them! good grief, Jeanne, All of these are gems, I can not pick a favorite. I never ever got the “tiny doll bug”
because I never knew!!!!! I never knew. If I did, I would have at least three…. of the littles, and perhaps three of the teeny tinies. Yikes.
The little jackets, and the shoes, and the lace and the buttons
The Purple looks gorgeous on Lian!!
I love the dresses on the AG dolls, Kit’s dress is sweet with the lace and little buttons.
The smocked dress is beautiful on Lian again, well done, so perfect.
The Patsy Tonner doll is beautiful, really striking beauty.
All of the dolls and dresses are just precious!
Yesterday I got up and thought it was Thursday until I don’t know maybe about 10:30 I realized it was Wednesday. It was chilly and beautiful sunny all day,
Today and into the week-end I think we are going to have excessive rain… so they say
Both good and bad weather systems seem to evaporate as they go over the Blue Ridge Mountains and into North western portion of Virginia.
I hope everyone is finally finished with the rain violence. April is always such a soggy month

Jeanne, I love to hear the good news for George. I know how you feel when you Hubby is not well. I am asking for prayers for my Peyton. Yesterday he woke up with his left had very swollen and painful. After he went to his dental appointment we rushed to a walk end clinic to find that it could be very dangerous if not treated. He has antibiotics and Epson salts baths. Please pray that it goes away soon, with no further problems.

As always, seeing your lovely outfits from the past is a real treat. I love how you tied Patsy’s hat under her chin, and Lian’s lovely smocked dress. Such sweet twin sisters, all the pretty hats, just lovely. I am way behind on sewing for 2 orders, so see y’all tomorrow.

Praying for Peyton. So glad you didn’t wait to have it treated. Did he get bitten by something? That’s the first thing that came to mind.

Thank you for the prayers, Barbara, so kind of you. the doctor said it was caused by a scratch or a cut, and it became badly infected. The problem is that if it is not cured it could spread up the arm and that would be really bad! I will keep y’all posted. Thank you again.

Praying for Peyton, that the infection won’t spread any further. Take care of yourself, too, Sissy–it’s hard to be a caregiver, even if it’s just for a few days!

Well, so glad to hear that George has passed the test and is on to the last episode. Yay for him and Jeanne too. I’m sure he will be so much more comfortable and ready to spring into action once again by summer.
Well, look at all of the Easter finery. There are some lovelies there. I think the most interesting is Kit’s dress with the white lacy gathered collar and the set of colored matching tone buttons. I wonder how she attached that collar? I would love to have a dress like that for one of my Connie Lowe girls or a Meadow doll. Fun.
As to the cake, I can’t remember, but was there a recipe for it? I would love a piece right now even though it is only 7:20 AM. 🙂
Word is out from Ruby Red that they will accept cancellations for one of the forth coming dolls until tomorrow or we can expect to be paying probably $150.00 tariff in addition upon arrival to the U.S. government. Yikes! Can’t imagine the tariff we’ll be paying for car parts and everything else. Not a good time for sure.
On a lighter note, yesterday, I did manage to almost fill another can with weeds in the backyard. Neighbor’s cat was very helpful chasing a lizard though. I don’t think she caught it. So much more ground and areas to weed. Might be done by next September.

  6. I always look forward to seeing your archive pictures of the various styled dresses, Jeanne!
The last few days, I’ve enjoyed seeing pictures from Charlotte, Suzette and Sissy. I hope I’m not forgetting any other pictures sent in by others.
It’s fun to share our love for dolls and their clothes and accessories.
It’s great news George is getting near the end of procedures. Hope it all goes well for him.

These last fews months, actually since January, life has been busy with family visits, a trip and a few health issues. Life goes on and time flies. Lately, I’ve enjoyed a past time of enjoying puzzles. Great stress relievers! Haha.
Enjoy your coffee, tea or protein drink and have a great day.

I always love seeing pictures from the archives. My Boneka Charlotte has the last ensemble shown. She has it on right now for Easter. I love the sister dresses on Janie and Noel. But other than that I sure couldn’t pick out a favorite. I love them all.

So glad to hear George’s good news and that he’s ready for the final surgery. I’m sure you both will be glad to see the end of these procedures.

My hubby had a good solution for my sciatica problem yesterday. He told me to sit in my recliner with my heating pad and he brought me some of the rum he makes. It was just a juice glass full. I drank it and immediately fell asleep and slept the afternoon away. When I woke up I was greatly improved. The heating pad alone wasn’t doing the trick but once my body relaxed then it began working. Once when I had a pinched nerve in my back I used a Doan’s product that was amazing but you can’t buy it anymore.

That cake looks so good. I really love cake but since it’s just the two of us I don’t bake them anymore. I like Rosemary’s idea and may give that a try. As for the top of the wedding cake, we froze that and ate some on our first anniversary. But the frosting was no longer any good so we took it off and just ate the cake which was a yellow pound cake.

Beautiful weather here for the next few days. Temps in the 80s but the humidity will be low and that makes for very pleasant days.

    1. Sissy Lingle on the GA coast

It sounds like a great solution for you, Barbara! What a great hubby to know how to help.

  8. I enjoyed seeing the past Easter dresses. Love the sister duo and the first one on Lian. I love smocking on little girl dresses and that sweet bonnet style. Kit’s dress is adorable!

I’ve baked cakes and frozen the unfrosted layers. It works perfectly well.

  9. Debbie in North Carolina

Such good news that George’s vein treatments are getting the desired results. Sorry to hear of the passing of his brother in law.

All my favorite dolls on parade today! I especially remember the last three and can attribute ALL of my doll purchases in recent years to your blog. Boneka and Little Darling were unknown to me before I became a follower. I don’t know of anyone else who takes the time to share their creations and their life on a daily basis. Many many thanks for sharing with us and allowing us to share with each other.

  10. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Jeanne, I love your Easter Parade of dresses. I like Molly’s dress the best.

I will continue to pray for George and your family.

I hope you will be able to plan for some rest time very soon.
