Surprise, Surprise… from Karen, Eileen and Rozen!

Hi everyone,
Lots to show today, but so glad you enjoyed the quilt blocks from Joy Carter and the pictures from Charlotte at EXPO. I WISH we could ALL get together at my house and just do nothing but talk dolls and fabrics and buttons and lace and patterns and the latest sewing gadget… etc… Wouldn’t that be fun? We’d have to take numbers to get into my sewing room… which, by the way, is still being tweaked. I haven’t forgotten about getting it finished! So many things going on right now!

BUT… here’s something fun from Karen, in Kentucky. It’s been a while since we’ve seen any pictures from her, so today I have pictures!

Here is her note to me…

Dear Jeanne,
The girls and their Daddy made some of these penguins. Can you guess which ones?
Also, here is a long overdue picture of Dominic. He is almost 7 months.
Hope you are having a great weekend!
Love, Karen

Wow Karen! Dominic has really grown, but I guess that’s what babies do! :o) His big brown eyes are beautiful! I bet your hubby just adores him! Well, I bet the girls do too! :o) Thanks so much for sharing!

Next up is the sweet picture from the winner of the last dress set I made. Eileen won the dress and put it on her Aya, who is the same size as Mae. Isn’t she adorable in it?

She just gushed about how excited she was to have won it and went on and on about it. I emailed her back and told her she had MADE MY DAY! Then she quickly emailed me back and said, “No, you made my day when I opened that box this morning!” :o) I just LOVE happy customers!

Okay, now I guess it’s my turn to share something… well actually, it’s Rozen’s turn to shine and does she ever…

I did make those thigh highs like some of you suggested… white with just a bit of a lace design. They fit into her shoes, but you have to wiggle the shoe to get them on… maybe if I leave them on her for a few days they will stretch…

Next, I decided to add a little pizzaz to Rozen’s dress… just some simple silk ribbon bows at the sides of her dress. They don’t show under her jacket, but if she takes it off, they make the dress a little bit dressier! See, wasn’t that a fun surprise?

Next, I made something really fabulous for her… a STRAW HAT with changeable ribbons… my hubby liked the blue and I liked the natural, so I figured out a way to make them both work. I tied them around the brim and then glued the blue ribbon and the natural jute ribbon on just the band. They can just slip over the crown of the hat and stay put… (unless your doll does a cartwheel) Here are a few pictures…

My hat is a little bit wavy.. but I didn’t plan on it… it just ended up that way… AND the blue ribbon isn’t as dark as it looks in the picture.

Then I saw this picture…

…and knew I wanted to make Rozen a purse… So this is what I came up with… it doesn’t open because the hat straw kind of has a mind of it’s own and wanted to just keep popping up… so it’s glued shut… sorry…

Here are the hat bands/ribbon and the purse…

…and a few more pictures.

I forgot to show the chocolates in the picture of everything that’s included in this set, but here’s Rozen to show you what the winner will receive…

Well, another one finished… now to get it listed on Ebay! I’ll do my best…

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Hi all, thank you for your nice comments on my pictures yesterday. I did go ahead an answer each and every one, but I didn’t get to it as early as I had hoped. I got busy, and it kind of slipped my mind, until about 8:30 tonight!!

Well, this post had some lovely surprises in it!!

Karen, the penguins are just darling. And so is Dominic! He looks like such a happy little boy! Is that Marian lying next to him in that one picture? She has really grown up a lot!

Eileen, congratulations on winning that auction! Your Aya looks just beautiful in that outfit, and quite happy to have her fancy Easter bonnet!

Jeanne, Rozen’s outfit is just as cute as can be. Yes, I think the shoes will stretch just a trifle if you leave the stockings on her, and the next time they will be a smidge easier to put on/take off.

The bows are a great touch on her dress–just the right shade of blue! And I love her hat with the interchangeable bands, as well as the darling little purse. I think this will be a popular item!! Well done.

Thanks so much, Charlotte! The kids and J had fun making the penguins. Rose is actually the one with Dominic in the picture, but great job remembering Marion’s name! Rose is 10 now and Marion is 12! They are growing up fast.

  2. Linda in St. Louis

Karen, those little penguin’s are just adorable! They all look perfectly made, so you have some excellent crafters living with you! And Dominic is adorable little boy! My goodness, how he has grown, and I’m sure he is quite spoiled by his big sisters! I am the oldest of four girls, and if I ever had a baby brother, I’m sure he would have been spoiled as well!

Eileen, how adorable Aya looks in her new Jeanne Marie outfit! What a spoiled little doll she must be, but she certainly is all ready for the Easter Bunny now!

Jeanne, what a darling set this has turned out to be! Those bows at the waist are perfect without being “too much”! The hat and purse certainly dress it up, and I actually like the idea of different color ribbons on it. I do the same thing with my straw doll hats to match whatever outfit they will be worn with. And the thigh highs, which I suggested you make , certainly do highlight her pretty shoes and give the whole outfit a finishing touch! The candy is as cute as it must be delicious! What’s not to like?

After reading this over, I sure am using the word “adorable” a lot, but can you blame me?

Thanks a lot, Linda! Yesterday Rose found some walnut? shells outside and turned them into bowls for the penguins. Looks like they used them for their breakfast this morning 🙂
Yes, the girls are fond of Dominic. =)

  3. Karen from Kentucky

Thanks so much for sharing my pictures, Jeanne! I am glad you finally got to see Dominic again =)

Eileen, Aya looks beautiful in her new outfit! She looks really sweet. 🙂

I like the ribbons on Rozen’s dress and the heart is a nice touch on her purse. Cute chocolate lambs! Have a great day all! It is supposed to hit 70! Hooray!

  4. Debbie in North Carolina

Dominic is so adorable and so are those penguins. You have a crafty family.

Aya is truly special on the outfit that Jeanne modeled on Mae. Nothing like a new outfit to make a doll owner happy.

Rozen’s outfit is just perfect, a little fancy, a little homespun. I like the ribbons on the dress. Nice touch for a warm day without the jacket.

  5. Karen, your sweet Dominic is sooo adorable, and so happy!
What a sweet baby brother to Marian. You are so blessed. I love the penguins! What a happy boat ride… watch out for large icy things and polar bears!!!
This dress looks perfect on your dear Aya, Eileen, Perfect and sweet.
This outfit is ready to GO , Jeanne. What a lovely ensemble
Happy Tuesday all of you. Busy here…. packing and finding treasures so many treasures. Enjoy warmth and sunshine hopefully all of you have it!!

  6. Joy in northern CA

Wow, so much fun going on today.
Rozen, and her accessories have turned out just great. I love the thigh highs with the shoes and dress. Adds a finished look. The hat and bag are cute as well. I’m sure this will be another best seller
And how sweet to see the last outfit photo on Aya. So cute. Thanks Jeanne and Eileen for sharing.
How fun to actually see Dominic. What a cutie. Thanks Karen, family, and Jeanne. I’m sure his sisters are having a wonderful time entertaining him. Those penguins are amazing. What a great craft idea. Each one is special. And I love the photos with the lake/snow background. So authentic. 🙂
Here, there is another delivery expected but the kind that comes in a box or two. Came in last night from HK via Japan and landed in Oakland. On it’s way north right now. I’ll be on the look out, but with other person nearby, I have my doubts about having a successful delivery without those prying eyes discovering my next dolls. Wish me luck.

    1. Debbie in North Carolina

Good luck Joy! Trying to guess what is in those boxes. I can’t recall a recent release due in March.

  7. Sissy Lingle on the GA coast

So much fun again today, Jeanne, Karen and Eileen!! Of course, first there is the sweet blue outfit for Rozen, perfection added as always, Jeanne.

I have to admit I am trying to hold down jealousy for Elieen’s win. It is adorable on Aya but so glad my Mae or Tia didn’t see it. I hate when tear arrive, LOL!

SO sweet to see that darling boy. I have 2 and remember how sweet they were as babies. They are very sweet to their mama now even though they live pretty far away. I hope yours stay close, Karen. Thank you for sharing the penguins, they are so cute, what fun they are having with crafts, and a great job!!

    1. Karen from Kentucky

Thanks a lot, Sissy, for your kind words. I hope our kids don’t move far away, too. I would miss them dearly. I am happy to know yours are sweet. It sounds like you did a great job raising them.

  8. Barbara in SE Texas

I love the bows at the waist on the dress. So perfect. I’m a big one for bows at the waist of things. The hat is very nice and I love the interchangeable ribbons. I like the thigh highs. I was surprised they were tight because without them the shoes looked too big so I thought there would be plenty of room for something on her legs. I see another winner here for sure.

Thanks, Eileen, for sending the wonderful picture of Aya. She is definitely ready for the Easter parade. I love the bigger Meadow dolls but I don’t really collect bigger dolls so I never thought of getting one.

Thanks, Karen, for sending the wonderful picture of Dominic. He is a cutie! Will we be seeing all your family in Easter pictures? I always enjoy seeing pictures of your family. And congratulations to them all on making the wonderful penguins and taking pictures. Great job! I love the background.

Well I’m over the moon. Sean and Skyy put together my new sewing/crafting table yesterday and it is just as I hoped. It fits perfectly and being 6″ shorter in depth than my previous table gives me more room in front of it so I don’t feel as crowded as I did before. There is a small dent in one of the legs but it’s not all that noticeable. Sean said the table was packed very well so he thought it might have been done in the factory. I’m going to mention it to Wayfair so maybe they can step up their quality control, but other than that it wasn’t worth going through the hassle of getting the part replaced and delaying my use of it for several days or more. The Ikea five-drawer cabinet I bought fits very nicely under the one end of the table in what would normally be dead space. I was hoping it would so I’m patting myself on the back for my good planning LOL. I’m chomping at the bit to get in there and start reorganizing things, but I must work on my tax stuff. I like to get it to my tax preparer by at most the 15th of March. It’s not complicated as much as there are so many parts to gather up and make sure I have all the details and this sort of thing is not my favorite thing to do. And the repository of some of my information is my hubby and prying it from him is a struggle because he doesn’t keep track of things. He bought two pieces of equipment last year and I told him I needed the information a week ago. I’m going to have to start making a to-do list for him.

Great weather here again today. If all goes well we will be missing the spring storms that come when warm Gulf air hits the colder air coming from the north that will occur sometime the end of this week. But we won’t miss out on the wind behind them. Gusts up to 36 mph are expected. David and Sean are trying to get our vegetable garden ready and every time they move the plants outside they predict wind and they have to move them back in. But it is March and that does usually mean wind so we will cope. Hopefully we won’t have another hurricane this year. Beryl totally destroyed our garden last year.

    1. Karen from Kentucky

Thank you, Barbara! Congratulations on your new sewing and crafting table and the Ikea 5-drawer cabinet! That sounds exciting! Not sure about Easter pictures, but we’ll see. Good luck with your garden!

  9. The penguins are super cute, Karen. I recognize the two middle ones as being Sylvanian Families/ Calico Critters, but the homemade ones are much sweeter.
Dominic is an adorable baby and I’m sure his big sisters (Marion, Rose, Lucia, Avila, and Lilly) just dote on him. He looks so very happy. I, too, thought it was Marion with him. Yes, I’m good at remembering names.

Eileen, Your Aya looks so pretty in her new dress and hat.

Rozen looks lovely in that dress. The fabric is perfect now against her tan skin. I love the hat and the purse. They are so cute. I think I like the natural ribbon best as well.

    1. Karen from Kentucky

Thank you, Laura! Yes, you’re right; the adults are Calico Critters. Fantastic job on remembering my daughters’ names! I remember that you have beautiful long names for your dolls and some are Spanish. Do you remember I have a sister in Iowa named Laura? It is a pretty name. 🙂 Are you thinking of going to the Ohio National Doll Show?
