Hi everyone,
My weekend was jam-packed with working at the Food Pantry, cleaning my house, a Ladies Day Out to my hubby’s hometown, a birthday party for our pastor, and then my sister and hubby arrived. We have already had fun and it’s only the first night! Who knows how much fun we’ll have tomorrow! Cindy watched me box up the “Little Lambie” set… how exciting for her… probably not!
If you saw my Sunday post, you’ve already seen how I decorated the shoes, but if not, here they are…I punched out some tiny little flowers from leather to add to my doll shoes… simple, but sweet. Sorry, sister time takes precedence over sewing…
I forgot to take a picture of the shoes on Bailey’s feet… maybe I’ll remember to do that tomorrow…
This is all I’ve got for you today…
Did you ever own a pair of shoes that had flowers on them?
I’ll see you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
Jeanne, so adorable! Those flowers are the cutest things! I have seen shoes with flowers on them, my own! They were heels and had leather flowers on the vamp. They were for summer, naturally, and I wore them with a black and white suit. While I still have the suit, I don’t have the shoes anymore,I really don’t have a reason to keep the suit, but you know, you just never know! I haven’t tried it on for a couple of years, so I wonder if it even fits!
What a busy week for you, but just do what you can. Especially have fun with Cindy! And congratulations on that wonderful sale last night!
Monday, Monday, and the last day of March. I wonder what awaits us next month?
Congrats on the big sale. Hope Jeanne can wedge in some time for sewing to finish up the cute outfit for Bailey.
Here, rained again last night. Can’t do anything outside until it dries out. Those weeds keep growing too. Yikes, so much to do around here.
I did finish the shorts for the boys that I’ve been working on. Still need to get those buttons on the shirts though and some miserable snaps. Ugh, really do not like sewing them on at all.
Can’t wait to see what Jeanne and Cindy might find if they are able to go on a thrift store jaunt. Love seeing their great surprises.
Everyone must be very busy this morning as when I started writing, only Linda had chimed in. 🙂
I have been busy this morning trying to catch up on “office” things that went begging while I was working on my taxes. I’m definitely looking forward to the day I no longer have to deal with Kansas farmland and all the reporting that entails. I’ll miss the income but not having to pay the property taxes, fertilizer, insurance, etc., will definitely be an asset. It surprises me we have any farmers these days because the past four years our expenses nearly matched our income.
Mostly I just wanted to say that I don’t like sewing on snaps either. Some sewers make it look easy but I always manage to drop one part of the set and can’t find it so have to get another. Looking forward to seeing the outfits you are creating for the boys. And yes the weeds always seem to grow no matter what. But right now my ditches along the road are proficient with pink wildflowers. This is one time of year when I’m glad the city doesn’t mow often. Just wish the flowers would grow in my gardens. They are so pretty.
Your ditch wildflowers sound wonderful. It just started pouring here and we even had hail. My poor freesias are not at all happy.
I know what you mean about a slippery snap part. I’m still putting off working on them, but need to buckle down. I did find a long sewing pin with a round yellow top wedged into the end of my tennis shoe this morning. Good thing that I wasn’t crawling around trying to find a snap or it probably would have ended up in my knee. Have no idea how it ended up stuck into my shoe, but glad it wasn’t in my foot.
I’ve had the experience of finding a stray needle/pin by surprise. I actually had one the other day. I keep a wastebasket by my recliner (it looks like a giant thimble). I reached down to pick up a tissue that had fallen out of the basket and got jabbed by something. I hoped I hadn’t run into one of the red wasps we have so many of at this time of year. No it was a bent pin I had thrown away but missed the wastebasket and I had run my finger right into it. Ouch!
The whole ensemble is darling! The shoes are unbelievably small. What patience and skill it takes along with knowledge about the tools to complete these darling tiny shoes! Congratulations on another beautiful outfit! Have a great time with your family. ❤️
Dear Jeanne, the outfit is adorable. The candy is just the right touch.
I am so glad that Cindy has come to spend time with you. I am sure that the two of you will have the best time!
As today is the last day of March, do you know what that means? There are only 31 days until May! Yeaaa!!!
May in PA. Oh how I miss it.
Dear Barbara, you are due for visit. Come on up (smile)!
Last week I sporadically checked in on the blog. I was doing a job that over the years has become quite time consuming. That would be changing the outfits on my dolly daughters preparing them for another season, in this case Easter/Spring. I’m good now until I change them into summer attire in early June. I wanted to get them changed so i could see who needs an Easter outfit. Still too many. Thanks to Erin at Cottontail Doll Designs I don’t have as many missing outfits as I otherwise would have. I even bought a couple dresses because I liked them but had no for sure recipient. Then Sage said her wool jacket was too hot and she wanted to replace her boots with something lighter on her feet so she got the pretty purple flowered dress and some matching sandals. Then Polly said she needed a change of attire also so she got the pretty pink flowered dress with matching shoes. So all my RRFF dolls are good to go but my Sylvia Natterer dolls really do need something for spring. They have been wearing their back-to-school dresses because that’s all they have. I need to make them Christmas dresses too. I’m about to start on a dress for Easter for my Gotz Hannah doll. She is 19.5″ tall. Sewing for her is like making clothes for a child after sewing for my RRFF mini dolls. Anyone have good ideas on how to display dolls. So many of my dolls are the same size that you really don’t get to see them all. I was thinking of something like the risers that choral groups use but before I embarked on that journey I thought I’d see if my sofa sisters had any thoughts on this.
Congratulations on the successful auction of Ten Ping’s pretty purple outfit. And the shoes for Bailey are adorable, as is the rest of the outfit.
As to whether I ever had shoes with flowers, I can’t remember that I did. I often had bows on my shoes and a lot of times they were clip on so I could change colors but I can’t remember anything other than bows.
I’m really no help on doll display as so many dolls here are laying around and not displayed nicely at all. But, I’ve seen what Sally does with hers. She uses some of the doll boxes stacked as risers so that her dolls can be fully seen. The boxes actually look nice and really can hardly be seen with everyone standing on them in rows. Just a thought. 🙂
Sounds like you have been a busy bee at your place. Can’t believe that you have your dolls all dressed for Easter. Good for you. I would love to see a pic of them.
You were more help than you know about displaying the dolls. Thanks for the idea. I certainly have plenty of boxes and that would solve the problem of storing for at least a few of them. I have the really small dolls on two bookshelves with my LDs and L’il Dreamers on the middle shelf. My other small dolls like my Boneka’s and others of that size are standing on my treadle machine and the RRFF, H4H, WW, Natterer, Paola Reina, Betsy and others from 13-14″ up are on the top of my corner electric fireplace. The top is supposed to be for a TV but it works pretty well for the bigger dolls if I don’t get too many more. I will try the box idea and then take a picture.
Super cute shoes. Yes, I’ve had shoes with flowers on them. Back in high school, shoes clips were the rage. You could buy leather bows or flowers to clip onto the vamp of your shoes. Sometimes you had matching and sometimes another color that was complementary to your outfit. I also had a pair of dark green heels that had the bow already sewn on the front. Then there were rhinestone clips for Christmas or dances.
Now, I have sandals that have flowers up the center strap. I really like them.
I’m sure Cindy and you will have a great time.
Have a wonderful time with your sister. Enjoy, hopefully, beautiful weather and great adventures.
The tiny flowers on the tiny shoes are so so adorable. I saw this yesterday and just gushed. You are very nimble, Jeanne
I can;t believe it is Monday again, the week-end zipped by.
Loving the whole outfit, Jeanne, and the tiny flowers on the shoes are just the tops!
Looking forward to hearing/seeing about your wonderful visit with Cindy. I always wanted a sister, you both are blessed.
Speaking of flowers, our county is just blooming every where with azaleas. Our camellias are finished blooming, the dogwoods are dropping the petals. We enjoyed our trip to the Y today. That drive had roadside yellow wild flowers all along and also purple ones. I love the spring!
