HI everyone,
No comments from me today… the doctor wanted to see me again for another ultrasound… the ultrasound guy had left a note about redoing the top section of where my vein had been cauterized…ON THE VERY LAST LINE OF THE REPORT… and the doctor hadn’t seen it. So we had to make another trip out of town to get the ultrasound. The doctor did tell me the results would be given to me, this time with a phone call. That saves a trip. My hubby’s second surgery is coming up very soon… oh boy, here we go again.
Enough on that…let’s talk about Mae!
Let’s see I added 3 new things today… and maybe 4 if you like it…
First was a bow to go on Mae’s dress. When we were out of town today, I asked my hubby if we could stop at the Hobby Lobby so I could look for some blue flowers. Joy suggested maybe just a couple blue flowers in her hat to go with her dress a little better. Well, they had very few blue flowers and the ones they did have weren’t even close to the color I needed… so I did the next best thing… I searched and searched in all my ribbons and found a 9″ piece of a rayon ribbon that was the exact same color like in the hat flowers and decided to add a bow to the dress to pick up some of the hat colors and not worry about the blue flowers for the hat. As I studied the dress and the hat… they did feel a bit disconnected, one was SO peachy and one was SO blue. So I used the bow just under the collar to tie them together. I think it looks sweet.
Next I made a bracelet for Mae, using some glass beads and the one dark pink bell flower as a charm. It’s made on stretch magic cord and picks up the colors of the dress very nicely. Mae likes to look at it. :o)
So we have the hat, the dress, the bracelet, the shoes and so we needed some thigh highs. I made a white pair from a floral design and they were nice… better than bare legs and they filled in the gaps on the shoes when they were just on Mae’s bare feet.
Then I got a little adventurous and wondered if a pinky color might look nice with the dress. I did have some pinky/peach colored stretch fabrics/little girls tights to make another color for Mae’s dress. The color I found was a perfect match to the flowers in her hat, so now if you think they look okay, I will include a second pair of thigh highs with this set…
So I think I’m finished with this set… what started out green shoes for St. Patrick’s Day has slowly evolved to more of an Easter dress… so I’m thinking about calling it Easter Charm.
Thanks everyone,
I guess I better start thinking of who might be up next. I do have another pair of green shoes made… maybe I could try again for St. Patrick’s Day! :o)
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
Oh, gosh, as if you haven’t had enough other stuff to worry about, now you need an additional ultrasound! It’s too bad the doc didn’t see that last line right away! And then with George’s second procedure coming up….as we get older, there are some months when I think my only social life is doctors’ appointments! Especially when Ron was alive, as he had so many different issues.
I’m down in Puyallup tonight. I met up with Tonya and the others at our dinner–it turned out two of them had classes today and the other two went antiquing (looking, anyway). After the dinner three of them came to my room to visit (one of the gals had stayed at the hotel and went to bed early, we think). A fun start to Expo!
Britt showed a gorgeous caftan she’d made in class today, using just certain measurements to draft the pattern, and it was made of a fabulous vintage fabric! And I forgot to take a picture. Maybe I can get her to model it again tomorrow!
Heading off to an early (for me) bedtime. I will be taking pictures, and then sometime next week I’ll send some to Jeanne with the descriptions.
Enjoy your time with good friends dear Charlotte.
You are off to a great start, Charlotte, so happy for you!
Thanks for the Expo report. Sounds like so much fun. 🙂
Sounds like you are off to a great start for a fun few days. Looking forward to seeing pictures including one of the caftan.
So cute, Jeanne! I think the added bow made a big difference in brightening up the dress and balancing the colors with the hat. I really like the way the outfit looks with the pink tights too! By all means add them to the set! I think I even prefer them to the white ones, although white tights are always “right”!
The little bracelet is perfect for the dress too! Poor Mae is really going to be one sad little girl when she has to give that set up!
I’m sorry about you having to go get another ultrasound, and then too, George’s second surgery for his legs coming up. As annoying and upsetting as things like that are, you and George are “experts” by now, if that makes you feel any better!
Looking forward to your adventures and pictures of the Expo, Charlotte!
Every little detail adds so much to your creations! So much fun watching your process of adding just the right touches to bring an ensemble to perfection, as if it had been the plan from the beginning. Congratulations on another darling dress and accessories.
I’d much rather someone double-checked results and called for another ultrasound than leave any doubt. Hope everything is okay. Glad George’s problem was identified and treated too. Good observation.
Well, Jeanne, best wishes on the ultrasound. I hope all reveals good news.
Of course hubbs is in our prayers too.
Your progress and completion of Mae’s Easter ensemble is very beautiful.
Perfection. The little bracelet is adorable.
Well, Jeanne, at least your Dr. did finally see what he missed. So sorry you have to go back though. Wishes for good results for you and George.
You really did a great finish on Mae’s outfit. Looking forward to bidding on it.
Glad Jeanne’s doctor caught his error and ordered another ultrasound. I prefer receiving that information online so that I can read it myself. But, glad a phone call will come rather than another trip. When is George’s 2nd surgery? I’m sure he will be glad to have it all completed.
Mae looks absolutely adorable in her special outfit. The pictures are so sweet. Mae’s bracelet is the perfect addition to her outfit. Little girls now, love wearing jewelry. Something this old person had to reserve for only special occasions as a child. Grand, who just turned twelve was thrilled with new earrings, bracelet, and necklace by Kendra Scott. Heart theme. All her friends have similar items. I love both pairs of thigh highs with Mae’s outfit. What a great bonus. In a very cute way, Mae looks like she is wearing her grandmother’s hat for dress up. It is a delightful outfit and so perfect for spring. I’m sure there will be a lot of action on Ebay soon. 🙂
I think we hit 72 yesterday and what a warm nice day. Today is supposed to be even warmer and then back to clouds and maybe sprinkles over the weekend. But, having the sun was so delightful. Hope it isn’t too hot though as we’ll be climbing around in the old apple tree trying to get it pruned back into shape. 🙂
When I woke up this morning (20 minutes before my alarm–ugh!), I realized I hadn’t commented on the additions to Mae’s outfit, so here we go:
She looks absolutely delighted with her new bracelet! What little girl doesn’t love something sparkly like that? And her thigh-highs–I’ll bet she thinks they are ballet tights and is dancing around the house!
The little pink bow at the neckline, blue green and pink bracelet, and the choice of pink or white tights are perfect choices. They really complete the outfit. Love it. Have you checked if the hat fits any other dolls?
I love every piece of Mae’s lovely outfit. The pink bow is perfect and the bracelet is a very nice touch. What little girl would not love such a pretty bracelet. I like the pink tights with the dress and adding them to the outfit is definitely a plus. Easter charm is a great title since the outfit is definitely charming.
Beautiful weather here for a few days now. Daytime temps in the 70s, nights in the 50s and sunshine all day, well once the early morning fog burns off. Hopefully this will last for a while. I would really like somewhat of a Spring before the hot temps hit.
Oops! Forgot to say I hope all goes well with your additional ultrasound, Jeanne, and George’s surgery.
Jeanne….Mae’s outfit just keeps getting better and better with all of the accessories! When I looked again at the collar and sleeve binding print, it looks like it could be small dots so close together that it appears like a checked fabric! Even small dotted fabric is about as hard to find as tiny checks, I think. The thigh high stockings really complete the look…I like the white one’s best.
I think Mae’s face is one of the sweetest doll faces I’ve ever seen, and her size, but I’m not a fan of that many joints on such a small doll. But the joints do allow her to sit sweetly on a bench or chair! I sometimes wish some of the Ruby Red dolls had jointed ankles though.
I imagine Mae’s ensemble will be in demand once folks see the coordinated dress, hat and shoes!
