Want to see some REALLY cute handmade Santa’s and Snowmen?

HI everyone,
You are in for a treat today from Elizabeth. She sent pictures of her latest sewing project… or should I say PROJECTS!!

(Today is going to be all about her today, but I have 3 clues at the bottom as to what I did over the weekend… See if you can guess what they are!)

This is what Elizabeth sent in her email…

Hi Jeanne,
I am sending you the Santa and Snowmen figures in case you want to show them to the sofa sisters who read your site! I finally finished all ten of each figure which will go to my family …a Santa and a snowman in each gift sack, and five of those sacks must be sent up north yet. This is my busiest time of the year and I feel like one of Santa’s elves!

I am currently working on the Barbie “Tiny Home” dollhouse for my Great-Granddaughter and so glad I don’t need to send it anywhere… I may need the days almost right up to Christmas to finish this creation!

The kitchen and dining area, and the living room with a walk-out small deck, and the bathroom are done. Just need to complete the two bedrooms, add the wallpapers/ window curtains, flooring, and construct the beds and add accessories. And the clock is ticking! I will try to download some photos of the tiny home and send them to you, when completed.

Thank you ahead of time, if you decide to include my Christmas figures!

Elizabeth Staples

Oh… ABSOLUTELY, Elizabeth…and we’ll be waiting for the Barbie Tiny Home pictures too! (Whenever you finish it!) Thanks so much for sharing your love of sewing!

They look like something you would find in Macy’s or Dillard’s or Sax Fifth Avenue! Really high end work, Elizabeth… I give you an A+++!

Now here are 3 clues about what I did for Lavender’s oufit over the weekend…

I am working on one or two last things and I will be ready to list this set. Gotta hurry as the year is coming to a close quickly!

Thanks everyone,
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Oh, Elizabeth, your Santas and Snowmen are as cute as can be! They look really well made, too–something you might find in a high-end store. Well done! I hope the recipients appreciate all your efforts!

I, too, will be looking forward to seeing the tiny home you are putting together!

Okay, Jeanne, it looks to me like you made a hair bow, added straps to the camisole, and sewed pleats on the skirt! Can’t wait to see the finished outfit!

Elizabeth, those are the most darling snowmen and Santa’s I have ever seen! And to think, you made TEN of each, well, you did an outstanding job! Did you have a pattern you used? I just love them, and would love it if you made extras, and I can send you my address! Ha, ha, just kidding, Elizabeth, but how fun it must be for you to make these darling treasures, that I am sure will be loved very much by your family! How lucky they are and how loved they must feel!

Jeanne, I do know what those three mysteries are, a headband, straps for the camisole, and you put snaps on the skirt which you opened down the back. Much easier to get it on over the slip! I think everyone will see and know those three things, so I didn’t give it away, or did I? Those things needed to be done, and you did it! Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!

Elizabeth, your Santas and snowmen are wonderful. I love the fringe on the snowman scarves. Your attention to detail really elevates your art. Just beautiful! Please do send along pictures of the house when you’re ready. It sounds delightful.

I also think Jeanne’s weekend produced a headband bow, straps, and snaps (maybe all the way down instead of the partial opening I think it had originally).

  4. Oh those snow men… and the Santas, they are so cutie cute!
I made a wreath of snowman heads about 10 years ago, Each one has a hat on.
I brought it over to my mom and dad’s apartment and my dad laughed and laughed because it was so cute. I still have it. I just made a lot of white round heads out of felt (I like this white batting used here) and then made all different types of silly hats and cute faces.
    Anyway, These are excellent
I like the progress on Lavenders outfit. super cute,. I have been sewing doll clothes for a few days now and it is not so easy, I am going to try to focus on a few things to give to the girls dolls for Christmas, mostly skirts blouses and pajamas

Wow oh wow! Those snowmen and Santas are the cats meow. Love how the snowmen are tipping their hats or holding on to them as the wind blows. And the Santas are amazing with their details. The colors chosen by Elizabeth, are perfect. What a fun surprise seeing her finished products which will be a special Christmas for her family.
Jeanne has been busy in her workshop as well. The outfit is singing along. I do like the straps on the camisole and the other finishes as well.
Have to hurry along as I have the dentist this morning. And it has been raining heavily for hours. I think the rain Gods can turn off the tap now. We’re good.

I second all the comments on the snowmen and Santa’s. The choices of fabrics for every detail is perf. Very professionally designed and sewn. These are truly family treasures and to have made ten of each! 🎅 ⛄️. Congratulations, Elizabeth! ❤️

The ensemble is nearing completion. It’ll get to the winner before Christmas! Another successful design by Jeanne Marie! 🎉

  7. Elizabeth those snowmen and Santas are wonderful and really put a smile on your face. Thanks for sharing. And please share the tiny house with us.

My five year old wants a snowman! Haha. Great job, Elizabeth! Well done!

That’s nice you were able to get more done on the outfit, Jeanne!

Pouring rain here! Glad I made it to the mailbox when I did. Have a great day, everyone!

Dear Jeanne, I love Elizabeth’s creations. It looks like the snowmen are getting ready to take off their hats and sing a lively noel. It looks like the Santas are going to begin rock and then break into a dance routine. Someone cue the music (laugh).

I think you have been working to complete the lovely outfit before Christmas.

  10. What sweet snowman, Elizabeth. I love snowman and snowfakesas January decorations after the Christmas items are put away after Epiphany. I have a large felt Mr. and Mrs. Snowman couple my mom made for me many years ago that goes out then.
Your Santas are really cute as well. I’m sure the homemade gifts are appreciated so much.
As for the clues, Jeanne. You made a hairband with a bow, the camisole has straps, and the skirt has snaps.
Raining here as well, overcast and cold.

  11. Thank you Jeanne for sharing my Santa and snowmen photos with the sofa sisters…..and thank you ladies for your wonderful comments….made my day!

The Top Hat Snowman is a pattern from Sweet Meadow Farms, designed by Maureen Mills. I have ordered other online patterns from her in the past and all of her figures are very sweet. Her site/patterns can be ordered from “Dollmakers Journey”….they offer a large selection of patterns for cloth figures from many different talented designers. You can choose to either receive the printed pattern or order the downloaded version which is quick and you’re able to print the pattern as soon as you’ve paid for it. The snowman instructions had you hand stitch the eyes using embroidery floss but I needed to find a quicker way to do ten snowmen. My daughter located black beads at Hobby Lobby, that almost looked like coal with their pock marks and flat black finish. Perfect for eyes and I used a smaller size bead for the snowman’s tummy “coal pieces”. Added a dot of white paint to the eyes to bring more life to them. And I used white aquarium gravel from Walmart to weight the bottoms of the stuffed figure.

The Santa pattern is titled “Lil Nick” from Fruitful Hands. I searched online for a Santa that could be made like “stump dolls” (no legs to make!) since I knew I would be making ten of them and only had a month or so to create them.. Found Lil Nick pattern on Etsy…and ordered the downloadable pattern right away. I did enlarge the pattern somewhat so he wouldn’t be dwarfed by the snowmen figures!

Still working on the Barbie dollhouse….just finished the bedroom walls, flooring and added the ceiling this weekend. Working on a bed and accessories to finish. I will take photos to send to Jeanne, hopefully this week! I am so ready to clean up and organize my sewing/craft room so I can get back to sewing for my Ruby Red dolls. And maybe start looking for a different Santa and Snowman pattern to use for next year!
