I LOVED all your SHOE Stories and here are some dolls showing their Christmas dresses!

Who would have thought a Giveaway for a pair of doll shoes could produce such funny and memorable stories. I laughed and had to read them a second time.

SewBig, I have never heard of Leprechaun Slippers? That’s a totally new one for me! Anyone else heard of them?

Sissy, I was really impressed with making your round-toed shoes into pointed shoes with black ribbon and some stuffing. I wish you had a picture of them… that was pretty clever!

Welcome back, Marilyn! I’m sorry you were out of commission with your computer for the last 16 days. I was looking out my kitchen window and watching my hubby use something “you” blessed us with… but I can’t tell everyone else just yet, as it has to do with all my lumber!
So you had some Dolly Madison look alike Silver Satin shoes? How wonderful!

When I thought the stories couldn’t get any better, Cheryl tells us about her teal blue Go-Go boots! :o)

Thanks everyone for being such great storytellers! I think this was really fun!

Now to the winner. I wasn’t sure how I was going to do this, since I wasn’t sure who had the Ruby Red Fashion Friends dolls, but I took a chance and just put everyone who signed in today and had my hubby draw a name out… unbelievably he drew out our winner… who just might be the newest RRFF doll owner!
Lorraine Slavkovsky is the winner and the silver shoes will go to her new Opaline doll she just received last week. Congratulations!
Please send me your address so I can get them mailed to you…

Thanks everyone!

Okay, now onto some more Dolly dresses! I’m sure you want to see everyone’s pictures!

First up is Linda, from St. Louis, telling us about her wonderful American Girl’s dressed for Christmas!

Jeanne, here are some pictures of what is going on at my house.
The first picture shows the 40’s girls dressed as Santa’s helpers hanging the elves’ clothes out to dry.

Next, the modern girls, making Christmas cookies!

Here they are with their finished cookies!

Here is Felicity getting ready for her party.

Next, Kirsten is dressed in her St. Lucia outfit.

The 40’s girls in their Christmas finery! Poor Sara with her bare arms! She must be a California girl!

The modern girls in their Christmas outfits.

Can you stand another picture, Jeanne? I finally was able to get Molly’s table fixed up for her Christmas party. Finally remembered to get green Kool-Aid for the punch bowl! Looks like she has two “friends” sniffing around!

Love to you,
Linda💕🎄

Thank you Linda! Your dolls are SO blessed to have such a good mom who sees to it that they all have pretty Christmas dresses! :o)

Next up are a few pictures from Susette, out in California! Here’s what she said…

I asked my granddaughter Riya what kind of dress she would like for Christmas when she was five years old in 2014. She asked for a green dress with puffy sleeves and white cuffs with a dropped waist and a sash with a flower. Whew! This was the result in three sizes. I kept the dress for Ten Ping and this is the only picture I have of Riya and Grace in their dresses.

Ten Ping and Little Sister in front of my Doll Tree. She would like a dress like this but I’m retired now from sewing. She’ll have to wait until 8” Ten Ping outgrows this and it’s handed down.

Very sweet Susette! I liked the line about Little Sister having to “wait” for Ten Ping to hand down her dress! Clever thinking!

Here are some of Susette’s Ruby Red Fashion Friends and her American Girl dolls coming down the staircase…and looking mighty fine, I might add!

Thanks so much Susette!

Now we have some pretty American Girl Dolls in Christmas dresses from Sylvia in New Hampshire!

My girls are ready for Christmas even if I am not! Three are in the dining room and four are on top of the piano in the living room !
Hope everyone has a wonderful day! Sylvia

Thank you so much Sylvia! They all look so lovely “decorating your house” only the way “dolls” can! Thanks so much!

Happy Christmas Eve everyone,
I’ll see you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Linda in St. Louis

First, congratulations to Lorraine for winning the pretty silver shoes for Opaline! Opaline is going to feel like a princess with them on her feet!

Susette, your pictures just carried me away to a happy place in my mind! What a beautiful tree and display of dolls, plus that one with your “real life” doll, Riya! You certainly have been busy dressing and placing dolls on your stairs! I had no idea you had that many dolls, and they are all dressed so beautifully! That takes time, just tell me about that! What a beautiful scene to see looking up or down the stairs! Thank you for sharing those pictures!

Sylvia, your dolls certainly do make your house look Christmasy! I love your version of Kirsten’s St. Lucia outfit! The background of your pictures looks exactly how I imagine a home in New Hampshire would look like! Your piano is beautiful, do you play?
Thank you for sending your pictures in also!

Well, it looks like the big day is almost here! In case I or others don’t get to the blog tomorrow, I am wishing all of you a very blessed, happy, and holy Christmas Day!

A big congrats to Lorraine, on the shoes. So, sweet of Jeanne to have the drawing. 🙂

I’ve been having so much fun looking at all of the great photos. Wow! Thanks everyone for sending them to Jeanne.

I loved seeing Linda’s first photo with the girls making sure the elves were tidy and had fresh clothes for their Christmas work. Great idea.
That cookie making photo is perfect. How did the girls keep the pups from eating all of their great work? And the all finished photo is fun too. Good job girls. 🙂
Felicity, always throws the best parties. So lovely and the special gifts on each chair for the guests is perfect.
It wouldn’t be Christmas without Kirsten in her special outfit. Love this photo.
The 40’s girls have the sweetest dresses. I’m sure Sara’s excitement will keep her plenty warm. Love her dress.
The modern girls and their pets are a favorite here. I absolutely love that sweater and skirt on the girl on the right. Is that AG?
And it wouldn’t be Christmas without Molly’s table and accessories. So funny, because I’ve been trying to make a punch bowl for my kids. So, you use green Kool aide? Great idea.
Thanks so much for sharing your photos. You’ve outdone yourself. Loved all of the Santa hats too.

Thanks Susette for sharing your memory photos and the steps display as well. So many lovely outfits on your girls and boys. That red long dress with the white drape on the neck for one of your RReds is wonderful. And that knit sweater outfit for Sara on the lower step is also a favorite. But, honestly, there are so many great things to see, I keep finding more. I absolutely love your display space. So fun.

And Sylvia, thank you for sending pics to Jeanne. I absolutely loved seeing your mantel display. Your vintage clock and sampler make a great background setting. And then the piano. What a wonderful display space it makes. All of your girls look lovely and ready for gifts soon. Merry Christmas.

Glad to hear that Marilyn, is back after the computer snafu. Has anyone heard from Charlotte? Missing her the last couple of days.

And the “Lumber Mystery,” continues. Whatever is George building??

    Happy Holidays to everyone. 🙂

    1. Linda in St. Louis

Thank you so much, Joy! I think you mean the outfit that Ivy is wearing, the black Fair Isle Sweater and tulle skirt with roses on it? Yes, that is from AG, actually a Janie &Jack outfit. I guess you haven’t been keeping up with AG, since those are among the new outfits for this Christmas. They are on sale right now on the AG website, you can buy separate pieces for around $14 , last time I looked.

Yes, I used green Kool-Aid in the punch bowl, and different colors for other occasions. Of course, no sugar, but don’t tell the dolls!😊. I could use food coloring, but you never know if it will spill, and it pretty much stains anything it spills on. The Kool-Aid comes right out. I got this punch bowl on EBay in miniature punch bowls. They have quite a few and they are the right size.

  3. Karen from Kentucky

Congratulations, Lorraine, on winning the beautiful shoes!
So fun to see all the wonderful Christmas scenes! I especially like the American Girl dolls hanging out the elves’ clothes to dry and the girls in the process of making cookies with the flour mess and the puppies looking on! 😀
That was so special of Susette to make her granddaughter her perfect Christmas dress with matching ones for the dolls. I bet Riya will never forget her kindness. It is fun to see all the Ruby Red dolls! Such a tiny elf one is holding! Your pictures are gorgeous, Sylvia! So nice to see the piano, too! Merry Christmas, everyone!!

    1. Linda in St. Louis

Thank you, Karen! It’s always fun to think up what to do next with the dolls that I haven’t done recently. It has been a few years since I did the clothesline scene and also the baking scene. I always try to ch ge it up from the last time zi did them. Pictures help with that!
I’m sure you can empathize with the “mess” cookie baking is when children are involved!

  4. Lost my whole letter ! I’ll try again.
It was such a nice Christmas surprise to see all of Linda, Suzette and Sylvia’s holiday dollie’s.

Linda, it’s always such a treat to see your girls in the holiday spirit and with all the interesting set ups you do. It’s fun to check out each scene. I love how little Betsy is never forgotten and the doggies get to join in too.

Suzette, your doll collection is fabulous. jSeeing them all dressed up on the stairs is amazing. That’s a lot of work but by being displayed on the steps, we can see each of them individually in all their wonderful outfits and costumes. Your Ten Ping and her sister are adorable. The little sister is just too cute.

And Sylvia, how nice to see your girls all dressed up and posed so nicely in your home. I like your choice of American Girls and it was nice of you to send us pictures of them.
It’s really neat to see what dolls and clothes others have collected. It’s especially wonderful that all the Sofa Sisters have a wonderful blog to share our love for dolls and the clothes Jeanne makes and the stories all of us share with each other.
Thank you Jeanne and may everyone have a blessed Christmas.

I don’t normally say alot about my family but I lost my brother yesterday – he was not in good health. He and I were close growing up as we were a year apart. It certainly puts a damper on my Christmas spirit but I know because of Christmas and his faith, he is in eternal bliss.

    1. Linda in St. Louis

Oh Paula, please accept my sympathy on the loss of your brother. Losing someone is never easy, but rest assured he is enjoying his eternal reward now and is at peace.
Thank you for the kind words about my dolls! No, Betsy is never forgotten!!

    2. Barbara in SE Texas

Paula, I am so sorry to hear about your brother. It’s always a difficult thing to lose someone you love but especially around the holidays. My prayers are with you and your family at this difficult time.

    3. Anne Coldron in Christchurch NZ

Paula I am so sorry about your brother. It always seems sadder right on Christmas. The Queen once said, “Grief is the price we pay for love”. The more we love the more we hurt.

    4. Dear, dear Paula, I’m so very sorry to hear of your losing your brother. Take comfort that he is safe in God’s Hands. I’ll be in touch with you very soon. Love and prayers, Laura

      1. Dear Paula,
I am so sad to think of you losing your brother on the 23rd.
I lost my dad on the 23rd of December backvin 1973.
He was buried the day after Christmas.
I hope you find comfort in knowing you had a loving brother.
May the Lord wrap His loving arms of comfort around you and your family this Christmas.
        Love you, Jeanne

    5. Paula, so sorry to hear of the death of your brother. Hope memories will keep him near. My thoughts are with you and family.

    6. Karen from Kentucky

I am so sorry to hear about your dear brother, Paula! May he rest in peace. We will pray for him and your family in this evening’s Rosary.

    7. Paula I’m so sorry for your loss. Thankfully it sounds like you have many happy memories with him and I’m sure he’d want you to remember those. God bless.

  5. Oh my goodness, thank you dears Linda, Susette and Sylvia for sharing these adorable photos.
This is just one precious scene after another, Wow. Sooo sweet. I love the scenery sets, well put together, The stairway photo is exceptional. Every sweet doll is so perfectly dressed for Christmas

  6. Barbara in SE Texas

Congratulations Lorraine on winning those adorable shoes. I know your Opaline will feel so special when she wears them.

Thank you Linda, Susette and Sylvia for your wonderful seasonal doll photos and thanks to Jeanne for posting them. Everyone looks amazing. Linda you always have the right props for every celebration. Great idea for the Kool Aid for the punch. I’m sure Sara will be comfortable in her sleeveless dress. I made a dress similar for two of my H4H dolls but they insisted I make pretty jackets for their dresses. Hope to send pictures sometime during the holidays.

Susette, what a real life doll your granddaughter is. I think it was lovely that you could make her a special Christmas dress according to her wishes. And for her dolls too. Your doll tree is amazing and so is your collection of dolls. They all look wonderful.

Sylvia your doll displays are lovely. So is your piano. I remember the picture of your New Hampshire farmhouse and your dolls absolutely add to the setting.

My closet arrived this morning and they had a fit getting it inside. They had doorways to contend with and light fixtures. I was sure glad when it was in place. But it was done in David’s shop so the finishing touches need to be put on while it’s in place. Right now my laundry room is totally in a shambles and all I can do is put things in place temporarily until it is finished completely. And I thought things would settle down after the holidays.

Since we are heading to Sean’s tomorrow for Christmas Day I may not have time to check in tomorrow so I will wish all my Sofa Sisters a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful day.

    1. Linda in St. Louis

Thank you, Barbara! I only do these scenes for the sofa sisters so that you all can enjoy them, so I’m glad you do! I would love to find a pretty sweater for Sara, but most of the ones I like are way too expensive for a doll! At least in my opinion! Why should a doll sweater cost more than a people sweater? One of these days I’ll find one!
I like to sue the different colors that Kool-Aid comes in to fit in with the scenes and various holiday’s.

  7. A big congratulations to you, Lorraine! Your Opaline is going to be thrilled with her new shoes and sparkly stockings.
What adorable pictures as always, Linda! Everyone looks so cute. I’m sure Sara is delighted to have come to a home with lots of fun activities always happening. I see she is already getting a wardrobe of fine frocks.
The cookie baking scene is so cute, but you’d better watch that puppy on the left. She looks poised to grab a sample.
Felicity has a fine table set for an elegant Christmas party. Kirsten looks very sweet.

Riya looks so sweet. Matching girl and doll dresses are always a hit. Your staircase of dolls are lovely, Susette! I really like Bella’s red dress and then her beautiful angel costume.

Your home is gorgeous, Sylvia! Kirsten’s outfit is darling. I love the little cape and the sweet pinafore.
Felicity’s dress is lovely as well. Your piano is so pretty with the ornate carving. Is it a player?

    1. I also want to wish all my Soft Sisters a very Merry Christmas in case I or you don’t find time to check in tomorrow. Being German heritage, Christmas Eve is very much Christmas to me.

    2. Linda in St. Louis

Thank you , Laura! Well, so so good with the dogs not touching the cookies! Yes, Sara is fitting right in and does have some nice dresses to share with her “sisters”. She really does need more though, so that’s what I am going to concentrate on in the new year. My other dolls have too much!

  8. Anne Coldron in Christchurch NZ

Meri Kirihimete everyone. It is Christmas morning here and I am waiting for my turn in the shower. Then we are all off to Darren’s for breakfast and Secret Santa. I hope you all have a wonderful day. Loved all the photos thank you all for sending them. I do read all your comments even though I don’t post very often.
You may remember that Jono and Kai’s friend, Seb visited in August. When he got back he asked his boss for time off at Christmas and then booked a flight to NZ to spend it here. He arrived at midnight and Sam and Kai went to the airport to fetch him all without Jono and Asher knowing about it. Then he slept the night on her couch (Kai sleeps in her loft) and they went in this morning to see Seb there with a bow on top of his head. All great fun.
After promising us rain all week for today last night they changed the forecast to sunny and 22 Celcius. Great, what is the point of living Downunder if it is going to be cold, wet and miserable on Christmas Day?
Have a wonderful day everyone. I have missed Charlotte too. I hope she is OK, I know it is a difficult time for her so soon after Ron’s passing, I have been remembering her in my prayers.
    Merry Christmas everyone
    Anne

    1. Linda in St. Louis

Thank you, Anne! It’s always a pleasure to hear from you, living so far away! Well, we must be getting the rain you were promised, since we will have several days in a row of rainy, overcast weather. If it were colder, it would be snow, but of course, a warm front has come through, so no white Christmas for us!

    2. Joy in northern CA

What a great Christmas surprise and the bow on Seb’s head. Must have been a hoot. 🙂
Here, in northern CA, we had a deluge of rain last night. Absolutely poured for most of the night. I think we got several inches. This morning, it is sunny so we got in a walk. Have a Merry Christmas, today. 🙂

  9. I was glad to see that Marilyn is back up and running on her computer.

I went back to yesterday and noticed Charlotte had posted there. She unfortunately has been ill. Here’s the first part of her comment that I will cut and paste here. Her son is coming and hopefully she is already on the mend.

I might be a little late in entering, but I have been one sick cookie this weekend, with maybe the worst stomach flu I’ve ever had. Won’t go into too many details but I got Zero sleep FRiday night, and was throwing up so much I finally called 911. They checked me out, said a trip to the ER would probably mean a 3-4 hour wait, and I could just stay home and keep drinking water to keep myself hydrated, so that’s what I did. I’m some better, but still feeling very weak and very tired. My son is coming down tomorrow to spend a couple of days. I told him, what’s for Christmas dinner is whatever I have on hand in the freezer or cupboard!

  10. Susette from Southern California

So sorry to hear about your brother, Paula. I’m sure you have fond memories of growing up together. May he rest in Eternal Peace. Thank you everyone for your lovely comments about the doll tree and staircase. I didn’t realize I had quite that many RRFF dolls. I find them kind of irresistible.

Linda’s scenes are always perfect with every detail thought out. Such beautiful clothes on every doll and the pets are all decked out too. Takes a while to check things out. Linda is right, Sylvia, your home looks like it’s perfect New Hampshire. Well done! Thanks to both of you for sharing your pictures. It’s so much fun to see other people’s dolls. Congratulations, Lorraine, on winning the shoes and tights. Everything Jeanne makes is to be treasured.

Welcome back. Marilyn. You’ve been missed.
