Hi everyone,
My sister, Cindy and her hubby arrived tonight and it’s SO wonderful to see them.
While they were on their way I did a thing…
I got the midriff band sewn to Rebecca’s Civil War dress and the sash started and the skirt attached but it’s not hemmed yet.
Here are a few pictures…
Sorry about the sleeves in my pictures… they were doing their own thing, I think.
Well, bit by bit, I’ll get this finished…but that is it for today!
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
What a perfectly lovely fall through winter dress. It’s a Christmas dress that would work perfectly for Thanksgiving too and for Sunday best all winter. You need a small Bible to go with it. Rebecca is Jewish, so you might offer an alternate accessory typical of Hanukkah as well — readers might have good suggestions. If you wanted to go back into book-making, there are lots of beautiful Jewish cookbooks on Amazon. Or there’s always a bag of those gold chocolate coins that should be fairly easy to find and are traditional.
I have a Corinne AG. She’s very pretty, but I saw one on AGPT that was even prettier. I looked again — someone had added a little blusher. I got out mine — a transparent brush-on powder — and Madeline (my Corinne) immediately looked younger, happier, more bright-eyed, and more Asian. A little blusher can make a difference, especially with older dolls. My hands aren’t steady (or talented) enough to do what Jeanne’s can, but blusher helps.
I know the AG site has accessories for Chanukah celebrations, or at least they used to.
Jeanne, this dress is beautiful and looks so lovely on Rebecca. The fabric is perfect!
Yesterday I found a big box of AG clothing, so much purchased and about 1/3 hand made by me. SO MANY SHOES! haha I found two nice three drawer sterilite carts and filing all of the clothes neatly in there.
Hubbs and I will drive to Richmond tomorrow (or Friday if the weather is too soggy) and bring the lovely dolls and clothes to my grand girls.
Your grand girls will be thrilled, Rosemary! I know I would have been, as a child. I loved my dolls, and especially all the clothes I had for my “last” (HA!!) doll when I was 10, which was an Ideal Princess Mary walking doll. Mom had made lots of things, and I bought some things at the dime store, too!
And I had the pleasure of sending a Mon Cheri doll to MY granddaughter a few years ago (along with some clothes) and she was thrilled, too!
I think everyone must be working on Thanksgiving dishes today. I’m about to start myself.
The blog arrived just fine today. I wonder why I didn’t receive one yesterday? Oh well, I’m glad it arrived today as usual.
Jeanne is cooking on that new dress it seems. It looks great so far. I’m wondering if it will have one of those fancy hats or a special purse made with the new frames recently acquired?
Hope everyone has a delightful Turkey Day. 🙂
Dear Joy, well not everyone. We non-cooks have to hold up the tradition (laugh).
Other person looked into some local dinners available around here if we weren’t able to travel to daughter’s because of the awful rain we have had recently. Really, great food out there. So, hope you have something special. 🙂
Here, I made Jeanne’s corn dish with some added mild chilis and cheddar cheese and the broccoli cheese casserole I’ve made forever it seems. Both are in the very easy category. 🙂
Dear Joy, I am having my favorite Chinese (take-out) meal with cranberry sauce on the side. We non-cooks have to be creative (laugh). My doll children are not picky about what we eat, thank goodness.
The weather is supposed to be rainy and maybe snowy here, otherwise I would travel to see family. I will make up for this at Christmas time.
Gobble, gobble!
Rebecca’s dress is absolutely lovely. Can’t wait to see what will adorn her hair. Shoes or boots? Looking forward to the final product.
Have a marvelous time with Cindy and her hubby.
I was in touch with Sean and Dionne off and on yesterday. I always worry when someone is traveling on the roads for a holiday, especially at this time of year when the weather can be a bit dicey, so it was good to watch their progress and know they were fine. They reached their destination at around 1:30 a.m. They lose an hour when they travel there. I didn’t wait up till they got there but saw his message this morning that they arrived safe and sound.
Happy Thanksgiving to all. Having a smaller than usual meal here but will still be having David’s wonderful pumpkin pie. He makes a pie but then also puts some in ramekins. Those are actually my favorite.
So glad to hear that your son and family made it safely to their destination. Whew, what a relief for you.
That pumpkin pie sounds delish.
Have a delightful day tomorrow. 🙂
I don’t know how I missed commenting this morning, but here I am! I too, like Joy, didn’t get the blog yesterday, but here it is today.
I love Rebecca’s dress! The colors are perfect for many holiday’s and still even if no holiday is being celebrated. I love the pretty waistband piece you made, just accents her waistline perfectly. Is that a piece of black lace that you pieced together or something already made?
I am in the middle of doing about 50 things at once, but am not having dinner tomorrow, since my daughter has the honors. However, since I don’t have that to worry about, all I do is make the pies, so I am starting Christmas decorating, slowly but surely. The little snowman that lights up that we put on our deck, is not lighting up, so Michael is working on that. It might just be that he is too old, since we have had him forever, but I have yet to find one as cute as he is, so I hope we can get him working again. Let’s hope the tree lights work too! There is always something to throw a wrench in to make holiday preps longer than they need to be.
May you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving, whether home or away, with family and friends or alone!
Congrats to you on the decorating. I know that tomorrow when we arrive at daughter’s place that the tree will be up and decorated. Not around here though. Wish I was more with the program.
Enjoy the holiday. 🙂
Dear Jeanne, how wonderful that Cindy is visiting. Please give her a hug from me. Tell her that my doll club is still talking about the trip to the antique mall. Did you got the photos I sent?
