Still working on Ruby Red Fashion Friend, Sara’s outfit…

Hi everyone,
I DO have some things to show you, but not as much as I would have liked… I had interruptions today! UGH!

I wanted to make her a purse to match her boots… and I had to hunt for the piece of leather I cut them from… found it and got this much done… the leather has been wet molded and has some paper towel pieces stuffed inside to keep its shape. I’m hoping it’s dry by morning so I can finish adding the straps…

While it was drying some, I decided to try and figure out what kind of hat Sara needed for her jumper set. I decided on a beret… the kind that sort of flops over to one side. I looked at some pictures online and thought it would look cute. I didn’t have a pattern for her so I took one I had made for a skinny little Kaye Wiggs doll I used to have, Millie. I enlarged the pattern and gave it a try from brown corduroy. It would look something like this… (only finished)

After I took a few pictures of it I wondered if I had any darker corduroy and I did… It goes better, but my pictures make it look dark… it’s the right color for the brown in her jumper.

Before I could do anymore on it, my phone dinged and I had sold a doll slip for the Little Darlings… a Patriotic slip! :o) So I went in the guest bedroom where I have ALL my listed things and things I “want” to list on the bed. NO SLIP! I put some things away on the bed and still NO SLIP! I had some doll boxes out and put them back up on the closet… still NO SLIP! I began to panic a little as I wasn’t sure I still had this fabric… but I found it in my “tulle” drawer and so I had to stop and make the slip… and then it was too late to keep sewing on the hat… but there’s tomorrow…

Well, that’s it for today. I’m really hoping there will be some leaves left on the trees by the time I get ready to list it. The wind has been blowing like crazy this evening… We’ll see…

Thanks everyone,
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Oh, that darker corduroy is just perfect, and I like the little purse, too. This is going to be one fabulous ensemble!

Phew!! So glad you still had some of that patriotic tulle left so you could whip up a little slip!

I sent you some Halloween pictures Sunday; hope you got them. Feel free to use them whenever you need a little “padding” in your blog post!

Oh yes, Jeanne, that darker corduroy is just perfect! This is really a cute outfit, and the โ€œextraโ€™sโ€ make it perfect! The tam is perfect, and the purse matches up so well! May e Sara will be going with her mother visiting antique and thrift shops!

So happy you were able to find extra tulle for the slip! I was thinking it was an odd time to ask for a patriotic slip, but I must mention, that I have one like that, that I won in one of your contests, and I use it regularly, no matter what the season! No one necessarily sees it when something is worn over it, and it does the job of holding out a skirt or dress beautifully!

If the weather in Carbondale is like St. Louis, you will need a boat and umbrella to take outdoor pictures!๐Ÿ™

Sara’s outfit is coming along. Not a hat person here, but this one is very cute. How about a fancy bow for Sara’s hair too for indoor wear?
Believe it or not, I had a successful delivery yesterday. We had to take the car in so I drove the car and other person the truck. Coming back, we passed the mail truck delivering nearby and I remembered that my package was out for delivery and was probably waiting on the porch. Well, no way I could hide it as other person was with me. As I bounded up the steps, there was the package right by the door laying down under the mail box. Arriving first, I stood right in front of it trying to block it with my big feet while fiddling with the mailbox above. Other person coming up the steps behind me was interested in what I was getting from the mailbox. As he reached to unlock the door, I put my leg in front of the box and click, other person opened the door. I handed him the mail to distract his attention from that below. ๐Ÿ™‚ He kindly pointed to me going inside first, but I waved him inside as I had my purse to plunk down on the chair inside by the door. Whew! He didn’t see that obvious doll box. A few minutes later he left the room, and I was back outside grabbing the box and putting it in that secret location. ๐Ÿ™‚
Back to deck prep yesterday. Now, I need to find some epoxy wood filler to fix a depression left by a potted plant that was elevated on a stand that was not supposed to cause the damage. Go figure.

Dear Joy, yeaaaa, another perfect caper! What, or rather who, was in the box? I can’t wait to hear more.

    2. Yeah, score another one for Joy! Trying to guess the doll in the box. I’m thinking Harlow if you bought her.

Poor Ruby Red Lexi, is still in her box. Just took a break from that deck with unending re staining. Hope to get her out soon. ๐Ÿ™‚

Dear Joy, thanks for the update. I look forward to “meeting” little Miss Lexi (smile).

The scale of all of the pieces is spot on. I like the hat to be kind of restrained in size as the dolls are so small. Linda usually says what Iโ€™m thinking about things like having long sleeves on the top and other details. I sometimes feel like I should just second her posts. I like the way you always think things through and come up with a perfect solution. The boots ๐Ÿฅพ are so perfectly executed now. Closing in on Christmas very soon. Iโ€™m having trouble dressing the RRFF boys for Christmas. No dressy clothes. I guess theyโ€™ll be sledding this year.

Susette, Kathy Anne Designs on Etsy has a pattern for dressy clothes for the boys and another boy wardrobe pattern that is very cute.

You, too, Joy. I can do that but would still like some really dressy clothes for boys. Maybe thereโ€™ll be some sets from Ruby Red. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Love the cute beret/tam. My mother used to love to dress me in plaid skirts and tams. Maybe it was a throwback to her Scottish roots. The purse is nice and goes great with the boots. Altogether a fetching outfit sure to be an auction success.

Dear Jeanne, the outfit is so cute. Are you going to include a yellow ribbon with the ensemble? Some Mama’s, like me, love to tie ribbons in the girls’ hair.

  7. Sissy Lingle on the GA coast

Cuter and cuter, Jeanne! Your outfits make me wish I had kept my doll, just too busy with others to sew for her.

  8. Sara’s outfit is going to be so cute. The little beret/tam will be a perfect addition. I like the new long sleeved tee so much more.
Good thing you had more of the patriotic tulle and could whip up another slip. I didn’t find buying a patriotic slip odd what with Veteran’s Day coming up.

  9. yes! a sweet Beret! I have two navy blue wool berets that I found in Mom’s box of treasures. I am sure they were mine and my sisters when we went to school in France. We had uniforms. Anyway, you were zippity quick making that adorable slip! I love it!!
And your customer will be so happy with it.
I just absolutely love this outfit.
Let me finish another project and then I must start making clothes for my niece, Sarah’s brand new Kit and her younger sister is getting some kind of Sparkle doll, similar in size to a wellie wisher. Lauren is just kind of messy and much younger.
I am going to start out with a few dresses and some undies.

I love the little bag too. Superbly pretty

      Hi Rosemary,
Our kids wear navy blue wool berets for their school Masses! The teachers are Dominicans and their Order is in France, too ๐Ÿ™‚ My daughter loves Kit, too.
