Hi everyone,
It sounds like those who celebrated Thanksgiving had a wonderful time. We did too… Cindy and I went to Schnuck’s last night and pretty much planned our dinner as we walked through the store. I actually had bought a turkey but never got it out of the freezer because we weren’t sure when they were coming.
So we decided on pot roast with potatoes, carrots, onions and mushrooms… then we decided on these things to go with the roast… sweet potato souffle, corn, broccoli salad, Sister Schubert rolls, gravy, cranberry sauce, dressing, green beans, pumpkin pie, chocolate chip cookies, and maybe a few more things I’ve forgotten. We had plenty and were very thankful!
Okay… enough on the food!
After we ate, and did the dishes, Cindy started playing around with the mantle above our fireplace. I watched… she did all the work. (Actually, I had started part of it,) but she made it the way it is now…PERFECT! At least to me!
We went outside and broke off a few low hanging branches from our Magnolia tree to use in a pitcher that was one of my mom’s favorite trinkets.
She put the little ceramic house (Susette sent me) in front of a painting that was my moms… and we rounded up some candles and cut them down…
I’ll just show you some pictures…
If you click on them they will enlarge.
Some of the pictures are mine and some are Cindy’s.
Then she moved to my china cabinet and rearranged the top. I had found this fold out star with lights inside and we put it together and it looks so Christmasy… especially with more Magnolia leaves added.
Tomorrow Deb is coming and we’ll be the Three Sisters Together again. I can’t wait!
I hope you have a wonderful Black Friday and don’t spend too much money! Save some for Cyber Monday! :o)
Have a nice weekend,
See you Monday,
Blessings, Jeanne
Cindy certainly has a way with arranging your home decor, pulling items together and so on. I wouldn’t have thought to put that darling little house right in front of that picture, but it’s just perfect there. And I love the light-up star over on the china cabinet, too.
So glad the three of you girls will have some time together this weekend! You’re so fortunate to have sisters!
I spent the day alone, although I did message back and forth with my son several times, and also with a friend, and had messages from Sarah and Kim (the mothers of my grandchildren) as well as others. I took the flowers out to the cemetery, then went to church and practiced before coming home. My tummy wasn’t up to a big meal, so I just ate here. For lunch, pickled herring (homemade from the Normanna Christmas bazaar a week or two ago!) and a hard-cooked egg (actually a good combination but maybe you have to be Swedish to appreciate it!! 😂) with some flatbread, and for supper a little frozen entree heated up, and leftover Copper Pennies (carrot salad). It was more than enough. I might take myself out tomorrow instead, if I’m feeling up to it. I’ll see.
I did find that “From Russia with Love” was on tonight–my all-time favorite James Bond movie–so you know what I was watching!! (and another station has a James Bond marathon on all day Friday!! Ooh…)
Oh, and good news about my toe: the infection seems to be going away and swelling is down, so I can wear my normal bedroom slippers again–they pressed on my toe and made it hurt before, so I was wearing my old, loose, sloppy slippers! Soon I will be done with the antibiotics, and then my tummy will settle down again.
Great news Charlotte, good things all around, In my opinion, the perfect Thanksgiving too. I am still beat from yesterday
Glad to hear good news, dear Charlotte! and glad you had some James Bond to look at. I love them.
Still prayers for healing.
Good morning dear friends, I hope everyone had a lovely day yesterday, Jeanne, your day was perfect. your restyled points of interest are beautiful I love your fireplace too.
It is so good to have a sister, and when your second sister comes it will be the best.
Remember to laugh and think about some old memories. My oldest sister is in Heaven – snatched up by the angels when she was only 48! Anyway, my second older sister lives in Maryland just an hour away. she is a sweetie.
Enjoy this time with the three of you, Jeanne
Hubbs and I left the house at 10am, Samantha and “girl of today (?)” were buckled in the back seat and I gathered up a lot of clothes (half of them hand made many years ago) and a lot of shoes. I had made a few new things for Sarah’s new Kit. Lauren is 6 and she has a
Glitter Girl? I tried to make some clothes for her but despite the excellent measurements my daughter gave me, I ended up only making tops and skirts. The pants did not work out well, as I did not compensate for the width at the thighs enough so those were a struggle for Lauren. I promised her I would make some more things and bring them soon.
We live in Loudoun County Virginia, 35 miles west of “the swamp” that is Washington DC, so instead of driving the interstate with the wild drivers, hubbs drove the back way through Charlottesville, going through many little way out in nowhere towns like Haymarket, Warrenton, Culpepper Goochland, Powhatten, Mosley and finally Chesterfield.
It was a gorgeous drive, people living way out in nowhere, with lots of open land and deep woods. Some nice homesteads and some really “shacky old places” but there were cars out front so people were home sweet home.
I had a blast at my daughters, of course I played with the girls all day… all day.
Then we left at 7:15 pm to get back home to the kitties, Miles and Princess, and we took the interstate and I drove quite fast, I have an old Acura rdx, small “suv”, the roads were perfect and we made it home at 9:30
That was record time. I was excited to get into bed and conk out. What a fun great day.
I hope everyone had a great day. Christina, my oldest daughter, boxed up a Glittergirl doll for me to use as a model. This will be helpful. The clothing the doll is wearing is quite ridiculous looking. Everything is made of stretchy material, and the blouse is really ugly, so I need to make her some sensible clothes as soon as possible. I still have my other daughters AG dolls, but she is not interested in them so they are mine, but Christina, my oldest will probably take them in about 20 years hahahaha
Enjoy the gatherings with dear friends and families.
Love the decorating. Both Jeanne and Cindy have amazing decorating talent. Finally found the ceramic house from Susette. Perfect placement and such a thoughtful gift.
Looks like you ended up with a delicious Thanksgiving meal and the turkeys were happy to be saved. 🙂
I didn’t think to take a pic of daughter’s new candles. She had six in holders she already owned down the center of the table. Honestly, I couldn’t tell that they were not real as they were actually wax, with wick lights that could be set to flicker or glow etc. Battery operated of course, and no dripping wax or smoke to set off the fire alarm. I’m actually guilty of doing that once here. And they were controlled by a remote. I’m going to take a look today for some for us. Online of course. 🙂
Hope no one is trampled by shoppers if you are braving any specials. Not like the old days of Black Friday though.
Have a fun day whatever you decide to do.
That’s a good place for the little house, Cindy. It’s fun to rearrange things. Dinner looks delicious! Keep having fun, The Three Sisters! The word sisters popped right up after typing “The Three. . .” Funny!
Things were very quiet here as I’d gone to Santa Barbara last weekend and my grandsons fixed dinner. Their mother did well with teaching them to cook and they enjoy it. James was going to his girlfriend’s family gathering farther north for Thanksgiving, so we got together early. Suemae and Pat were hanging her Chinese brush painting in a gallery on Thanksgiving as she’s the Artist of the Month for December and this weekend will be busy.
Always enjoy your pictures and the blog. Thanks for keeping us together! 🥰
Jeanne, I admit I am jealous of you with such lovely sisters. I always wanted one, and hve 2 brothers, one of which is pouting and won’t talk to any of the family.
We had such a great time with my younger son, Tommy, and his sweet wife, Jennifer here. We had the oyster roast with some of the family and yesterday’s feast at my niece and her hubs and daughter’s home with more family. I took my bourbon pecan pie, oyster dressing, dressed shrimp, and my cranberry relish. We brought home enough for today, and when Peyton and I got home from water aerobics and grocery store we finished off the pie. Tommy and Jen had to leave yesterday after dinner. They live in Seattle, WA. Lots of laundry today, and I may take a nap!! Wishing you all a nice week-end.
Dear Jeanne, Cindy truly has the magic touch! I love the painting in the center. I love the feeling that I could just step into it and go along the path through the snow, maybe to visit the neighbors for tea and scones.
I am glad that you three awesome sisters will be together. Your Sofa Sisters will be sitting here waiting to learn of all of your fun. Have a great weekend!
