We all had a wonderful day doing lots of fun things, but I wanted to take a minute and wish all of my readers a very Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you are able to be with friends and family!
I will see you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

A very happy Thanksgiving to all the sofa sisters! Enjoy doing whatever it is you are doing today, and spending time with family and friends, if that is what you are doing.
I have opted to be alone–sort of (I think my son will stop by)–because I’ve been on antibiotics for a week now, and there are times when my tummy is not happy and food does not appeal. Other times are fine. But it’s not something I can “schedule,” per se. I have flowers to take to the cemetery, and I’ll probably go up to the church and practice piano for a while (one of these days I will get myself a keyboard or something, but until then, I practice at church), and, depending on how I feel, maybe go out for a meal. We shall see.
The last 24 hours were rough, but somehow now I’m not as emotional as I was a few hours ago, so maybe it’s just the anticipation of the holiday, not the holiday itself, that has been “getting” me.
Barbara, I meant to comment that, yes, it is entirely possible that David will be able to do without BP meds now that he’s lost weight. That happened to Ron. When he first retired (20-some years ago) he weighed 255 (and was 5’5″!), and had high BP. Eventually he decided to lose weight, so cut down serving sizes, and over the course of some years, got below the 180 he weighed when we got married in 1974! And by then he was off BP meds, and had a better BP than I do! (For maybe the last year of his life he was down around 145–I had to buy him new trousers because he didn’t have anything small enough!!–and then lost another 15-20 pounds the last couple of months of his life.)
Jeanne, Rebecca’s dress is coming along nicely. I loved it without the shaped waistband, but I think I like it even better with it!! Is it something you sewed from fabric, or something like a dense lace applique or something? Just curious.
So glad you’re on antibiotics for that stomach problem. Hopefully, you will be feeling great again soon. Today, would be a perfect day to haul out a jigsaw puzzle and get to work. And don’t forget the Thanksgiving Day parade too. I hear it’s raining though.
Take care of yourself.
This is a virtual hug for you. You are doing amazingly well but I can totally understand the emotional feelings. Years ago before David I dated a man for six years. He died on the 20th of December due to an auto accident. I had to return all the gifts I bought for him for Christmas. It was a tough time but my faith got me through it and I know you have a lot of that. I hope you’re right about David being able to get off the BP meds because they have him on Entresto which is actually for heart failure patients. His heart is strong but it was the only BP meds he didn’t metabolize before noon. It would be too late to save his teeth and the thousands of dollars we’ve spent on implants, but I’d feel better for him.
You have a wonderful Thanksgiving wherever you spend it and hope your tummy feels better soon. Maybe you need some Tagamet. When David had pneumonia they put him on Tetracycline and his tummy didn’t like it. They switched him to Erythromycin but they also gave him Tagamet to fix his stomach problem.
Dear Charlotte, sending you blessings and virtual hugs. Your strength is limitless because it’s Divine. You remain in my prayers.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!🍗
Happy Thanksgiving!! I am thankful for you all!! <3
It’s a crisp 31 this morning and clear with a lovely sunrise. Good thing I covered the jade plants last night.
Hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving. 🙂
Lol Joy, we had 31 here as well but ours was Celsius not Fahrenheit and it was a one off between 16 and 17 C. knocked me completely for 6. Only 16C here today
Had to look that up. So, that was almost 88. A hot one. 🙂
Happy Thanksgiving Sofa Sisters !
Dear Jeanne, Happy Thanksgiving to you, your family, and all of the Sofa Sisters and their families.
Gratitude soars and Blessings abound!
I hope you all had a lovely day yesterday. We don’t celebrate it of course, but the shops have caught onto Black Friday sales!!!!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone. David smoked a turkey and it got done faster than anticipated so I’m hurrying to catch up with the sides. Sweet potatoes are in the oven and as soon as I’m finished here I’ll make the stuffing and open the cranberry sauce. The turkey looks amazing and is being steamed in the smoker in a beer broth (the beer brewed by David’s own hands) while we wait on the other. David is making the pumpkin pie(s) and filling the ramekins with pumpkin custard. Looking forward to a great meal. It’s just the two of us so a lot less work for me. And just the right amount of food and great company.
Have a great day all!!
I’ll bet that smoked turkey in home made beer was great. We had brined turkey which was delicious too. Glad you had a nice day. 🙂
My mom used to do that with extra pumpkin filling, too–made pumpkin custard! I hadn’t thought of that in years!! Yummy!!
Happy Thanksgiving to All! We are having a very rainy day in NH !
I hope you all have had a happy day and that Charlotte is feeling better.
We had such a lovely visit with my son and his wife. We had an oyster roast on Tuesday with some family joining us. Then I cooked for food to take to my niece’s dinner today. We had a lovely dinner, ate too much, and brought enough home for tomorrow.
Talk to you all tomorrow.
Leftovers around here tomorrow too. Daughter sent us home with turkey, mashed potatoes, and lots of pie. It will be turkey sandwiches for lunch tomorrow. 🙂
