Day 4 of fun Dolly things from Charlotte!

HI everyone,
I am having fun visiting with my daughter and her hubby and so I’ve been catching up on some “belated” emails sent my way and sharing them with you.

Today we have Charlotte, from the state of Washington and this is what Charlotte shared with me about her pictures…

Hi Jeanne, Here are the most recent pictures of my dolls. Sandy was my most recent purchase, and I’ve had her a few months now, I think. Diana was earlier than that. They are both such pretty dolls!

*******

Hi all! At long last, I have taken pictures of my most recent RRFF dolls. Sandy and Diana are both such beautiful dolls, and their clothes are really outstanding.

The first picture shows Sandy in her complete outfit; the second one, with the sweater removed. Really, her dress is the thing that really got me–I just love it!!

The next two pictures are of Diana; she came with both the skirt and the slacks, for two completely different looks. The skirt is a really luxuriant silky fabric, and is made the same front and back–flat panel with pleated sides. The slacks are a sort of crepe-like fabric, very dressy!

The last picture the girls modeling their outfits from RRFF, bought maybe last fall/winter when they had a sale. Sandy is wearing Lilac Pop, and Diana is wearing Somebunny Special. She thought she was really too dignified to wear bunny ears, but decided that just this once it would be okay. Besides, she just loves that skirt!!

And… here are some pictures I totally missed…didn’t even see them AT ALL… and Charlotte’s explanation of them…

Hi Jeanne. As promised, here are some pictures of my Halloween.

The first two are pictures of Marika’s and my dolls at the restaurant. My doll, AbbyRose, is dressed as a princess, in her white satin and silver/white tulle gown. No, I didn’t make it, and I’m not quite positive who did–I’ve had it for years. She also has a purple velvet cape, but, had already taken it off.

Marika’s doll, Annie, is dressed as a Victorian lady, and brought her doll, Blair, with her. She also has her trick-or-treat bucket. Marika’s daughter bought the mask in Spain, thinking it might fit her mom’s doll, and it’s perfect!

The second picture gives you a closer look at the fabulous mask.

The last picture is of the very special trick-or-treater who came to my house tonight–my great-grandson Skyler, with his mommy Sarah and daddy Eric (our oldest grandson). Such a wonderful surprise, and they really made not just my day but my whole month, really.

Enjoy! Charlotte

Dolls, Dolls and more dolls! Who will be showing something tomorrow? Barbara… come back to see what she got in the mail!

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

I must have reversed the first two pictures–it’s the second picture in which Sandy is wearing her complete outfit, and the first where you can see all the details in that lovely dress!

I’m glad you found my Halloween pictures, too, Jeanne. I had forgotten that I’d included the one of grandson Eric and his family. So now you all get to see a little part of our family!

Update: I saw my doctor today, and I have cellulitis (an infection) in my big toe. It’s right along the side of then nail, and she took some swabs of the wound, to sent it in for a culture. In the meantime, I’m on oral antibiotics and a stronger ointment for the affected area.

I will try to check back on comments thru the day. Thanks Jeanne for sharing my pictures.

Lovely dolls, Charlotte, Y’all are making me want to get some rrff dolls, I especially love the blue dress. Your Halloween photos are so fun as well, and how great to see your GREAT grandson. You are so blessed!

Wishes for quick healing for your toe. I am glad you went to the doc.

Dear Charlotte, thanks for sharing your lovely family with us (human and doll). Skyler is adorable.

I love Sandy’s outfit! I love to put polka dots on my dolls. And the sweater, I just love it! It is hard to find sweaters for dolls. I wear sweaters all of the time because I am always cold. I will have to look more diligently for doll sweaters.

You can find sweaters on Etsy at very reasonable prices. So many women overseas are really proficient at knitting and do some wonderful things for even tiny dolls. Sadly we have lost the Russian women who did some wonderful items. I managed to buy a few before they were taken off Etsy. Many items in my wish list I was unable to buy, but there are Ukrainian women who also do some beautiful doll sweaters and I have bought a few of them. Which reminds me I need to do some wool pleated skirts to go with them. I love to put polka dots on my dolls too.

        2. You’re welcome, Dorothy. (I think Skyler is pretty cute, too!)

The sweater was part of Sandy’s original outfit. I wish Ruby Red would sell accessories like sweaters–this one, but in another color or two, would be a nice addition to a doll’s wardrobe. (They already do sell some accessory packs, but not sweaters.) I am a sweater wearer, too–I always say it has to be at least 72 outside before I can take off my sweater!

      2. Thank you, Sissy! To tell the truth, Sandy’s dress is what swung the balance for me; I absolutely love it! That said, I have to say that ALL the RRFF clothes are wonderfully made. Plaids or stripes match, pockets are functional, they use real zippers, etc. As you know, I sew, and I am very pleased with the quality!

Yes, I am blessed. And they are all such nice kids!

My toe is already starting to look better; thanks!

I love your dolls and the outfit on Sandy is amazing. The shoes are fabulous. I wish they’d put that outfit out there for everyone to purchase without the doll. I have a ton of RRFF dolls so I don’t need more dolls just clothes for them. I can’t sew fast enough to outfit them all – or so they tell me.

I love the picture of your family. Skyler is adorable. And your Halloween pictures are so cute. I love the mask on Annie. How nice you have a friend to play dolls with. No such thing here and most people I introduce to my passion seem to want to pat me on the head and have me committed. I have the purple jumper outfit and the Somebunny Special outfit too. Stella likes to wear the outfit but prefers it without the bunny ears except maybe at Easter.

Hopefully your toe will heal fast now that you have the necessary medication.

      1. Thanks Barbara. I love this outfit, too. I have read, though, that they don’t sell the limited edition dolls’ outfits by themselves. Once in a while someone will sell it separately on ebay, but you’d have to do some hunting, I think!

I just ordered two more outfits last night! They have a sale on now, you know….

Thank you. It was a good Halloween this year!

I know what you mean. I was trying to explain the doll thing to someone quite a few years ago and she said, “You mean you change their clothes? And have them sitting out?” like I had just grown another head! But then, she was very athletic, grew up with a lot of brothers, played sports, etc., and that is something that *I* don’t understand! πŸ˜‚

Sure hope you haven’t had any storm problems like here. Although, I did read that there were lots of downed trees etc. up your way.
Loved seeing your great photos. Makes me kick myself as I didn’t order Sandy. She is adorable and her outfit too. Nice seeing your family too. Thanks so much Charlotte and Jeanne for sharing the pics.

      1. In my town, no, we had no storm damage. But all around us–wow! When I went to the doctor yesterday late afternoon, all the lights were out all over town–this was in Bothell, east of us–and the doctor’s office was working on generator power, so some things, like lobby lights and the elevator, were not working so they could focus the power where it was needed. My doctor has her office on the second floor, but they offered to come down to one of the exam rooms on the first floor as I really don’t think I could have managed those stairs (a very long flight).

You are so welcome, Joy; I’m glad you enjoyed them.

    4. Dear Charlotte, your dolls are are beautiful! The dresses are adorable. I should try to make some nice dresses…. Sandy’s dress is precious with the lace panel and other touches. Your dolls look marvelous!
well, right now I am sewing from measurements given to me by my daughter for the Glitter Girl which is supposed to be the same size (?) as a Wellie wisher? Either case, sewing for her will be simple until I can actually see the doll.
The outfits for Sarah’s Kit, I have AG dolls. I love these designs and dresses you have. Your red skirt is striking!!
Your grandson, Eric and Sarah and Skylar are a sweet family! What a nice picture. Are they close by?
I hope your recovery from this annoying cellulitis on you toe goes smoothly.
Thank you for sharing your dolls

      1. Well, I had a response ready and it disappeared, so here goes again!

Thank you so much, Rosemary! I have done a little sewing for my core dolls (RRFF), but that’s about it so far.

Yes, it can be challenging to sew for a doll you haven’t measured yourself! Have you searched online for a comparison chart? I’ve seen them for other types of dolls.

That red skirt really is lovely, and the fabric is quite luxurious!

Yes, Eric and his family are just a couple of miles away. When I broke my arm a couple of years ago, he came over and helped me grocery shop one time, and every now and then they call and ask if there’s anything I need.

My toe is already starting to look better, so the medicine is working!

  2. Linda in St. Louis

Charlotte, your dolls are so pretty! As a matter of fact, I almost thought that Diana was going to be my one and only RRFF doll, because she reminded me of my mother when she was young, but then I did get Sara after all. Diana looks so pretty in no matter what you put her in, and I like the fact that she has shorter hair, easier to take care of.
Sandy is cute too, and yes, her outfit is darling! Such detail in it, and what pretty light blue eyes she has!

Your Halloween lunch must have been fun! I love that gold mask, and wonder where it came from.

Little Skyler is so cute, and what a wonderful picture that I’m sure you will cherish forever! It reminds me of the first time I went around with my two toddlers, and I wound up carrying Brian the whole way, while Jennifer, who was Cinderella skipped along beside me. Funny, how fast those days fly by!

    1. Barbara in SE Texas

Linda I left a reply to your comment yesterday on my way to bed. Just wanted to let you know so you could check it out if you haven’t already.

    2. Thank you, Linda. Yes, I do love the shorter hair on Diana. That was one of the reasons I got her, that and her sweet face.

All I know about Annie’s mask is that Marika said her daughter bought it in Spain.

Oh, yes, I remember taking my son trick-or-treating when he was quite young, too–good memories!! And you’re right, this was a very special visit for me, and so thoughtful of them to stop by.

  3. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Jeanne, I am so happy that you are enjoying the young people. What a wonderful Thanksgiving/Christmas gift!

I’ll be back later to comment on Charlotte’s great pics, but running late.
Yesterday, was a muddy mess around here. Thought we had all the drains under control, but didn’t turn out that way. It rained all the night before and rained all day yesterday as well. I’d asked other person when he went up on the roof last week if he wanted me to throw up the hose so we could check the drain by our bedroom. Nope, said it was fine. Well, turned out it wasn’t fine at all. Water coming out through a crack below but the underground drain was clogged. Finally, I sawed off the connection and devised a diverter to get the water away from under our bedroom and out to the other drain as a temporary measure. We’ll see if it worked this morning. Then, when we went to the other house, it was pouring, but I noticed that water was running off everywhere. Not into the drains there. Turned out that the corner drain was also plugged underground and water pouring out of it. Played with the kitty there for a bit and headed home. Other person didn’t want to deal with the problem. By the time we got home, I figured out what might work. After fixing the problem above, I convinced other person to drive back to the other house and bring a piece of flexible pipe with us. Now, it was really raining hard. I was able to get the connector on the drain pipe and get it pointed away from the house, but because it was cold even with both of us, we couldn’t get the pipe to flex much at all. I yanked out a large rock from the landscaping and curled the pipe around it. Other person took a brick from another area and we managed to keep the pipe sort of flat. Water was pouring out as we worked. Mud from rocks everywhere and since we had ditched the umbrellas, hair soaked and dripping down my neck. I ended up washing off some mud from the downspout water before we slid back into the truck and headed home once again. There, I threw our muddy clothes into the washer. Today, I’ll have to take a look and see it either fix worked. Still raining this morning.
Hope Charlotte’s doing okay as the Seattle area has had huge power outages as well as trees coming down.

    1. Wow, Joy, I didn’t realize you were such a plumber! What a terrible time out in the rain and working so hard. You certainly deserve all those boxes you have to sneak in!!

    2. Oh, poor Joy, what a mess you had to contend with!! Hope all is working as it should now.

I actually did just fine during our storm. Our town didn’t seem to get any power outages, although they were all around us! I think at one point, in the greater Puget Sound area (from Tacoma up to Everett and beyond) there were over 500,000 outages!! We had our turn two years ago, when we were without power for 34 hours, and the house temp dropped to 46 (it was freezing outside). Ron got so cold, I was afraid I’d have to call 911 and have him transported to the hospital, but about that time, the power came back on. It took two hours of the furnace running constantly to bring the house back up to 70!

  5. Thank you so much for sharing the photos, always fun to see what other dolly mamas are doing. The dolls and their clothes inspire us to try something new and different. It’s almost like being there.

    1. Thank you so much, Dorothy! I’m glad you enjoyed the pictures. I don’t always set up scenes, but it’s fun to just take pictures–the dolls are so photogenic!

  6. Barbara in SE Texas

I’ve really enjoyed all the dolly pictures, etc., this week. Looking forward to seeing what tomorrow brings, but I think I already know LOL. Also looking forward to seeing some (Christmas) pictures from your visit with Rebecca and Karn.

    1. Joy in northern CA

Can’t wait to see the pics tomorrow and especially what came in the mail. πŸ™‚ The box That was supposed to arrive here today, didn’t make it. Since, it’s coming from WA, up north, it maybe stuck on a truck as all the northern roads are closed because of this storm.
