I guess you could say I was a dolly “dabbler” today…

Hi everyone,

First, I wanted to show a couple of pictures I received from Terri, who won the little green outfit for Ten Ping last week. Her Ten Ping found a friend to join her in the picture taking! It’s so strange for me to see something I made on a different doll! I LOVE IT! :o)

Yes, it’s true… I dabbled in this, and that, and a little bit more…

I couldn’t get my head focused on what I wanted to accomplish next, so I just did a few different things… and I think it helped…

First, I painted this sweet little wooden picket fence. I will use it for a prop with my dolls. I just spray painted it but after “seeing” the little staple holes in it, I’m wondering if I need to spackle those holes or let it look rustic… my hubby voted for rustic. We’ll see…

Next I was trying to finish a new pair of shoes I had started for Mae. Remember the green ones you saw last… these?

Well, I had tweaked my pattern again to make the base of the shoe shorter. This is the shoe I found online in a shoe shop and I am trying to copy it as best I can. I think it’s a pretty shoe… all dainty and not so clunky-like!

I can’t tell you how many times I have looked at this shoe and compared it to my shoe. I’ve lowered the sides, shortened the middle tab, rounded the end of the strap, etc… one of these days I’ll have a pair that looks just like these. :o) Oh Happy Day!

So here are the violet/raspberry/purple??? leather shoes I just finished today…

Here the purple ones are beside the green ones from last week…

I have this purple and black corduroy fabric I made a coat set for Ruby Red Fashion Friend Sara a while back. It’s that same fabric and these shoes go perfectly with it.

Here are a few more pictures of them…

Here is a short video showing the magnetic closure on this pair of shoes…

Kristoffer bought me this branding label with my name on it to use on the bottom of my doll shoe soles… You wet your leather and then heat up the brass emblem using a handheld blow torch (thingy!) Then you press it down on your slightly wet leather… Here is one view of it…

I intentionally made the heel section a different color because I wanted my leather sole to look stacked… like this…

Okay, back to the branding iron… here is the other shoe sole… OOPS!

This is the last thing I was dabbling with… I made Sara a pair of thigh highs from the gold and white striped stretch knit fabric. Then I found some waxed cord to lace up her boots… (her white top is just so she’s not naked…)

Here is a closer shot of the boots, the thigh highs and the brown fabric I’m planning to use for her “somehow!” I think it will make a nice Fall outfit.

Here is the brown fabric next to her skin tone…

Then I’m planning to make her a little denim jacket like I made one time for Freida…

Sara’s will look like this… (you’ll have to use your imagination…)

Well, I guess I better dabble off to bed now…

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

What a fun post today, with lots of different things to look at!

First of all, Terri, thanks for sharing pictures of your TenPing in her green outfit. It’s perfect for her, and I see she has a little friend, too!

Jeanne, I love Mae’s new shoes! I think I’d call that color boysenberry–it’s not really purple, and raspberry (to me, anyway) is more pink. It’s nice with that corduroy, although at first I couldn’t quite see it, I must admit. When I started looking more closely at the corduroy print, though, I realized there were several different colors in it, including that one. And, yes, I do think the refining of the pattern is coming along nicely.

How sweet of Kristoffer to get you that branding label for your shoe-making! Just what you needed (although I don’t think it’ll work on TenPing’s shoes–they’re just too small for it to fit). You could probably use it on the purses you make, too, if you want to.

I do like the combination of the striped thigh-highs with the boots and the floral print. Not something I would necessarily wear myself (although I did have a couple of pairs of “wild” socks, back in the day…), but looks cute together for the dolls. Not sure I’d go with a blue jacket, though. Maybe either gold (denim, if you can find it, or corduroy) would work well, or perhaps black (sometimes you can find denim in black!) or very dark navy? I can’t quite tell what the background color of the print is.

Thursday is my annual Halloween lunch with my friend Marika; we each bring a doll dressed in costume (although we do Not wear costumes ourselves!). It seems that it’s AbbyRose’s turn this year–Molly went last year, and, before Covid, April had two turns in a row. So Abby is going thru the costumes, trying to decide if she wants to wear one of her own, or borrow one of Molly’s or April’s. Stay tuned!

Fun things today, Jeanne! Terri’s Ten Ping looks adorable in her new outfit! For a Mo Ute there, I didn’t recognize her Ten Ping g since she has longer hair. Do the wigs come off?
What a cute little kitty she has too!

Love the new shoes too! That is a great idea to put brand” on the soles! Maybe you will soon be ready for your own outlet at the outlet mall!😊

I too, had to take a second look at the blue denim with the flowered material! It just threw me off a bit. I’m all for blue denim jackets, but wonder about this grouping. Maybe if you incorporate the flowered material i to something like the collar, cuffs or yolk to soften the blue? Just a suggestion!

  3. Oh my, Terri’s Ten Ping doll looks so adorable, and with her kitty, what a scene!

I love the new shoe design. Working with different types of leather makes a difference too. This plum/magenta.- yeah, boysenberry pair are so well done! And look now you have your own brander! super nice!! Jeanne, I love the new inspiration fabrics. I love that jeans jacket.
My grand daughters are getting dolls this month, and I better get sewing!
I hope everyone has a lovely Wednesday! I have had a mild headache for 3 days, I believe it is the leaves, it certainly is not crippling haha.
Enjoy your lunch with Marika, Charlotte!!

Yay, the blog arrived today. A big thank you to Jeanne. 🙂
Terri’s Ten looks adorable in her new outfit. Sweet.
I like the new pattern for the shoes for Mae. Looks more comfortable with the lower tab. The imprint on the bottom though, is not my favorite. It is nice that your son had the branding thingy made for you, but since Mae almost always poses with the bottom of her feet showing, it reminds me of a billboard for advertising. I don’t think most photographers would want that on her shoes. Could that be placed inside the shoe instead? Same with purses. Inside the flat maybe? Just my take on it.
I love the fabric print for Sara. But, it seems very busy. Maybe just a skirt instead of a whole dress in the print? Or something to break up the print like braid on the bottom and a belt? I do love that jacket and I’m sure Sara will too. Can’t wait to see what design appears.
We went to the other house yesterday morning to get the leaves off the roof and clean up. Packed the yard can and of course, Coco, the kitty showed up way ahead of her usual time. Gave her treats and she helped with the leaves. Well, mostly jumped in them. 🙂
Anyway, came home around eleven, and I checked my mail as I wanted to see about the delivery time of that big AG Blaire restaurant set that ended up arriving a day early. Just as I saw that it was coming between 3 and 6, other person walked in and said, what did you buy in a big box? Well, I guess that I should have been right by the door watching for the truck, but who knew it would arrive hours early? Other person pointed to the door. Apparently he had seen the truck and huge box from the window. The box was on the porch. I couldn’t even pick it up. Too big. But, was able to finally grab it and drag it inside. Ended up putting it in the hall. But, I needed a better place to put it as it was right where other person would be seeing it and remembering it. But, I was busy, so I left it. Got the lower deck scrubbed and power washed and the railings and bench too. Now, it’s ready for stain. But, more rain is expected and we’ll need a couple of days to dry out and a couple to dry after staining. So, we’ll have to wait and see for a break in the weather. Can’t do the rest of the deck until we can move all of that furniture out from under the overhang.
Anyway, other person took off for Safeway, and I pulled out the huge box and started unpacking. What a mess. A mix mash of packing materials, but fortunately, no packing peanuts. I was able to pull out the pieces of the set and sort of stash the largest parts in the doll room. But it all took time. I did sort the packing as I went along. Good stuff for wrapping glass and plastic for the trash. And paper of odd sizes in the recycling basket. I had the main pieces all out of the box and hidden, but there was that huge box and litter everywhere. Grabbed the paper etc. and threw it in the family room as I heard other person arrive in the truck. Then, grabbed the huge box and tossed it outside on the deck. Much lighter without the set inside. Came back in and grabbed a few little things out of the hall and parked them in a good place and then the door opened and there was other person. Whew. Of course, the trash can inside was packed with plastic air bags which I managed to stomp on before putting them in to conserve space. That was fun and loud. 🙂 Other person just happened to grab the can and took it outside as pick up is tomorrow. I quickly went out the back door to the deck in his absence and carried that huge box down the steps. Now empty it was like a feather. Opened the back garage door and saw that the light was on. I could hear other person so I knew he was either was back up stairs or dumping the trash. Pulled the box into the garage and threw it is an empty spot so I can cut it apart at another time. Came back upstairs. Other person showed up minutes later and said that that trash can was really packed. Oh really? Then, he left to pick up milk. About that time, I began searching for one thing that I couldn’t remember where I had stashed it. Some parts to the set. Looked around and then it dawned on me that I may have tossed it into the trash in my haste. Horrors. And other person had already taken it to the can. Ran down the front steps and opened the can. Started pulling out stuff and looking for that elusive little package that I couldn’t find. Here I was with my head in the garbage can and stuff flying out everywhere. Reached the bottom and didn’t find what for what I was looking. I quickly gathered up the stuff that had fallen out and put it all back in, looking for the truck all the while. Then, back upstairs. Since the parts weren’t in the trash where were they? Finally found them in the doll room. In my haste, I guess I didn’t remember their placement. Other person returned moments later. So glad I was able to get all the trash back into the can before he drove into the driveway. Anyway, the set is cute and I’m still looking at the accessories. Has some sweet little kitchen things.
Anyway, other person hasn’t mentioned the “box” again. Maybe because he knew how hard I’ve been working on that monstrous deck.
Today, eye appointment, so I’ll be out of commission to do much today. Maybe we can pick up the cans of stain we need. 🙂

Great to see the darling outfit on Terri’s Ten Ping. Thanks for sharing the picture. My Ten Ping will wish I had one just like it for herself. Maybe next time

Your shoes just get better and better, Jeanne. I do think you’re ready to open a shoe shop now thanks to the wonderful branding iron Kristopher had made for you, one of the most thoughtful gifts I’ve ever seen! Perfect touch, especially for the boots 🥾. Your outfits are so complete with the jackets, shoes, purses, accessories and treats that are included. Thanks for a great post today.

  6. Thanks, everyone, for your comments on Ten Ping’s new outfit! I love it and was thrilled to win one of Jeanne’s beautiful creations! Poor Ten Ping had not been out of her box for quite some time and she is enjoying the attention.
To answer Linda’s question, yes, she is a wigged doll, that is the wig she came in, but I could change it. I think RubyRed even sells additional wigs, but other companies probably do too.
    Happy Halloween to everyone! 🎃

  7. The purple shoes are beautiful and I love that branding thing with your name on it. Make another jacket, I loved that jacket!
