The last of my archived “October Dolly Dresses”

Hi everyone,
I’m still not able to push the foot pedal on my sewing machine, so I’m going to continue to finish up the pictures from archived “October” dresses! I hope you won’t mind…

Oh, I did receive my “London Fog Raincoat” from Susette. When I was talking about being out the rain the other night taking care of the chickens, without owning a raincoat, Susette took note and I received one she used to own and it fit me perfectly! It has a zip out lining too! I’m not the greatest at taking selfies, but here’s what I got in the mirror…

I didn’t buckle the belt, but just looped it over, but it’s a really nice raincoat. Thank you SO much Susette! :o) Bring on the rain! Well, not really!

Okay, so let’s see, where were we? (In case you are just joining us, I have been showing dresses I made for dolls only in the month of October… from 2014 until the present. I am showing 2019 dresses now and working backward.)

Here is little Navi, 6″ tall and looking perfect for Fall!

Here is Kirsten in a pretty blue and tan dirndl back in October, 2019! This was called “Charming in Blue” and she WAS!!

Here is Kirsten in “Prairie Rose” in October, 2018! Yep, more blue for her!

Her is Ten Ping in “Picture Day” in her sweet turquoise and black dress in October 2018!

Here is Felicity in “Fall Favorite!” She was a dream in this October dress!

Now we are in October 2017 and Felicity was still showing she had the modeling thing down pat. Here she is in “Fall Fancy”… (not totally finished, but enough, I wanted to show it.) The skirt was versatile and could be turned around to the back, so the print fabric looked like a one piece dress.

Here is Molly in “Autumn Lace” back in October 2017. She really should wear purple more often! :o)

No new dresses in October 2016… we were dealing with my hubby’s bladder cancer…

Here is Ten Ping in “Fall Fever” back in 2015…

Here is Josefina in an October 2015 dress… I think I called in “Muy Bonita!” but not positive!

This is Janie, one of my 13″ Dianna Effner, Little Darlings… in “Little Bit Country!” (2015) I even made her boots… see I’ve had “cobblering fever” for a LONG Time!

Eden closed out my Dresses from past Octobers… I hope you enjoyed seeing all of them…
Was anyone keeping track of them and have a favorite October dress? I have to admit, seeing Eden again in that long Regency dress makes me wish I had never sold her. I might never find another one as pretty as she was. She truly was remarkable.

Well, I’ll see you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

That raincoat is just right for you, Jeanne! So thoughtful of Susette to send it. I used to have a similar one, also with a zip-out lining. That was Many years ago now. My current raincoat is more of a “swing” style, but doesn’t have the zip-out lining, so if it’s cold, I have to wear one of my heavier coats.

Interesting that you put Molly in lavender. I tried to do that with my Molly–the first thing I made her after I got her was a lavender dress with a white collar. She wore it once, and then informed me that “lavender is Your favorite color, mom, not mine!” It eventually got passed to April Eleanore, who loves all pastel colors. (My Molly loves red!!)

I really like “Fall Favorite” on Felicity–I don’t know why but I don’t particularly remember that one. But it’s certainly lovely.

My favorite, though, is Eden’s dress, and yes, you did have a beautiful Eden. The dress is just perfect for her.

I love that beautiful London Fog raincoat, Jeanne! How sweet of Susette to send it! I used to have one just like that, a bit more of a tan color, and it served me well.

Oh dear, another group of beautiful dresses to pick from! It is SO HARD to figure out what I like best, due to them all being adorable! I will just go down line and mention the ones I like best.

First are the beautiful traditional dirndls you always make for Kirsten! I love the use of the handkerchief aprons, and all the extra little touches you always do when seeing for her. They are just one of a kind!

Felicity is another doll whose clothes are always beautiful, and fitting for a Colonial girl. You just don’t see that kind of clothing for dolls out there, so what you make is always very special . What a beautiful set that Fall Favorite is on her!

And then Molly! I LOVE that purple dress on her! It gives her a new look, and is perfect for the 40’s too! Actually, it would even work for today!

Ten Ping’s Fall Fever outfit looks familiar! She certainly wears that fabric so well, and it is the perfect scale for her.

Janie looks like a little country singer in her western outfit! Denim, sunflowers, red pigtails, lace socks and cowgirl boots! What’s not to like?

I hope your foot gets better, and resting it will hasten the healing, Jeanne. Guessing Rueben is happy that George is staying close for snuggling! Hopefully, he is getting better too!

Dear Jeanne, I hope your foot gets better soon. I know you are anxious to get back to your sewing machine.

I like the raincoat. It definitely suits you. When you are next scouring flea markets or Good Will stores, you might want to be on the lookout for a plastic rain poncho. You can find the ones that fold up and fit inside little plastic pouches. You can tuck one in the glove box of your car.

Of the October fashion parade, I like Janine’s outfit the best.

    1. yes, those quickie raincoats are perfect. Did you ever go to Niagara Falls and go out on one of those boats? Oh nooo I never did but I did see those simple rain coats they offered.
London Fog used to be such a famous label, and the best quality of clothes. Jeanne you look great in that coat!

Rosemary, we went to Niagara Falls when we went to visit a friend in Michigan. We did the “Maid of the Mist” boat ride. Still have the raincoats but they are more souvenirs these days. Not sure how good they hold up with regular use.

So sorry Jeanne, can’t power the machine right now. Hopefully, she can get into that vein doctor soon. I’d be a nervous wreck hoping that a blood clot didn’t break off and head to who knows where.
All of the dresses today are delightful. I’ve been admiring the “extras” that Jeanne, adds to each one. Let’s see, special belt buckles, lace bodices, chokers, embroidery, tiny buttons, hair ornaments, hats, purses, and the best little props ever, to name a few. I might add candy too although I don’t indulge unless it might be Pepperidge Farm Mint Milano’s. 🙂
We had another dreadfully hot day yesterday. I believe it was 103. We’ll be so glad when normal returns. It was like a blast furnace stepping out onto the deck midday. And it looks like I should have a delivery today. Not a clue how I can sneak in another without detection. I do have some cat fabric coming too. Hope I can get it together to finish an outfit by Halloween. 🙂
    Keep cool everyone.

  5. Oh no! Dear Jeanne, I cannot pick a favorite, but there are some beauties
I will have to go back through last week’s dresses. I do favor the AG dolls, mainly bc the littler ones are a new kind of doll that I am not familiar with. I would have loved them though as a girl.
As will every single dress, it is the embellishments, the laces and special buttons and embroideries that I love the most, and also the accessories. I love the purses, the shoes, the hair ribbons and the hats. All so special, Jeanne.
I began reading this blog so long ago, but I was in a very busy time with my parents, they needed care and I wanted to bring there here (long story) so it is only this past year that I have returned to reading your daily creations and ultimate outfits for sale. What an exciting endeavor, you know it brings happiness to those that can not make such things and just to have one or two special treasures made by you.
I hope everyone has a nice week. I am in Northern Virginia and we of course did not receive any batterings from the recent storm, but my heart breaks every time I read about more devastation. I need to check on my friend Gail in East Tennessee
We have to just keep praying for the best outcomes for all of those suffering.
Perhaps the US can ask Ukraine for a loan of funds, or most certainly stop giving money away to the massive storm of illegals.
Sorry, I just had to get that out. God Bless all of you dear ones. Enjoy the colorful days of Fall

Fact checkers say that the money rumored to have been taken from FEMA to help illegals is misinformation, so at least that’s something we don’t have to worry about.

There’s a YouTube film taken by a man who walked 10 miles through the damage. For those of us who haven’t seen what a hurricane can do, it’s enlightening.

These dresses are all prettier than each other; it is difficult to make a choice. In France, there are few of these American dolls and they never appear on blogs. I see that you have received a beautiful raincoat, but don’t be too impatient to try it out..! Here, it rains every day and the sky is sad. I hope that you are getting better and better and that your husband is going back to his chickens. French friendships to you all.

      Bonjour Georgina,

Do you mean American Girl dolls, which is a brand name, or do you mean dolls made in America. If you mean American Girl dolls, you can find them for sale on ebay.

There are many 18 inch dolls which are not made by American Girl but are just as lovely. I have two Gotz dolls which can wear American Girl clothing but not the shoes.

I hope you can find a doll that you like.

  7. As Georgina points out not everyone has American Girl dolls and would LOVE to have some replicas of the outfits you have created. Please consider making some of these for the Fashion Friends. Like a dirndl, regency dress, civil war period or colonial so many that you do so well.
Hope you and hubby mend well and fast.

This is funny. I’d been thinking I’d like to see some of the RRFF outfits by Jeanne in AG size. Seeing the colonial outfits made me think I’d happily see either of them in both or any sizes.

So sorry your foot is still giving you trouble. I once had a Kenmore machine that had a knee control. Not sure it would keep your leg from hurting though but I did like it. It beat trying to keep a foot control where I needed it. I tried all the gadgets they have out there but nothing has worked well. I told my hubby he needed to put a piece of wood between my sewing machine table and my serger table so the foot control wouldn’t keep drifting from under my sewing table to under my serger table (my machines are back-to-back in the center of my sewing room) but he’s made the task so complicated in his mind that he hasn’t got around to it. And he does have a few other things on his mind at the moment since the mini and the major plat for the subdivision have finally been approved by the city. Maybe I’ll Shanghai Sean to do it for me.

David and I have London Fog raincoats. We bought them at an outlet mall in North Carolina on the way up to visit my mother in Delaware many years ago. They have the zip-in lining. David’s is a beautiful charcoal gray and mine is a pretty Mauve. Don’t have much use for them with the lining in here, but if it does get cold they suffice since it’s rarely what I call bitter cold here. Mostly if it’s cold you just need something for the wind and they’re great for that.

I’ve been busy the past few days buying and printing out patterns for my Gotz Hannah. So many nice things to choose from and I’ve got so many pretty fabrics to make them from. I’ve been sewing clothes for the smaller dolls so much lately the pattern pieces for Hannah look huge. I always make sure to measure the gauge and it’s right on. I just have to wrap my head around sewing for a doll that size. It’s like sewing for a small child. Right now though I’m still in the process of making a couple dresses for my Mini Hanna twins. After that sewing for my 19.5″ Hannah will definitely feel different.

Anyone know when Mini Bella is expected? I thought it was sometime in September, but I haven’t heard anything and she hasn’t shown up yet. I might have mixed up her ETA with that of Sassy Sage. I know hers was September and she has arrived.

Just a note to say my foot control problem has been solved. I mentioned it to Sean again today and he remembered me showing the problem to him before. He said he thought he had fixed the problem and apologized for forgetting to do it. Shortly after we returned from lunch he got a board and nailed it to a piece on my sewing table (which was once my mother-in-law’s dressing table – large top and great drawers) and it allows me to keep my pedal in a good spot without having to find or place it every time I want to sew.

Nothing beats a classic raincoat. They look good with everything, and this one fits you so nicely.

Sharing reminds me that we are thinking of food, water, and shelter for the hurricane victims, and while people are missing, it seems trivial to think of the mixers, sewing machines, yarn stashes, quilts, china, and dolls that will be missed in the months and years to come. There should be a central place where people could request things and people who need to find new homes for things could send them. I wonder about our sofa sisters and how many of us have been affected.

  10. Oh, nice! London Fog was a top notch brand back in the day. I had a couple of their coats back in the 1980’s.
Both outfits on Kirsten are very sweet. Love the bonnet on the first one. My favorites are the ones on Felicity, especially Fall Favorite. I will never understand why she wasn’t more popular. I’m crazy about mine.

  11. Debbie in North Carolina

Jeanne, your message today reminded me that my mom’s Singer operated with a knee lever! It was a breeze to use, wish I had kept it. Sending healing thoughts.

I love everyone of your October outfits!

    1. Joy in northern CA

My mother had a Singer with the knee lever too. In fact, I still have it and did a lot of sewing on it years ago. 🙂

  12. Sissy Lingle on the GA coast

Oh, Jeanne, so sorry you have still having pain. I hope you can get to a doc soon, and hoping that George is getting better every day. That lovely coat should give your spirits a rise!

    Sending some photos.
    hugs,
    Sissy

  13. Susette from Southern California

I’m so glad the raincoat fits you so well. It’s really not necessary in Southern California, especially since I live a few miles inland from the Pacific Ocean. There are all ten climatic zones between the beach and the mountains 70 miles inland.

I love seeing the many ensembles you’ve created over the years. Every one has unique features in design, details and accessories. Hope you’re back to sewing soon but we’re enjoying the fashion show for now. 🥰
