Some Sweet and Simple Sandals for Someone Small…

Hi everyone,
Well, I liked Linda’s idea of Tinker Bell going barefoot with her new sun dress on, but I figured I should at least “try” to make her a pair of sandals, so I did! I was trying to make them to fit the Disney Animator dolls feet, AS WELL AS the feet on the My Meadows Moppets dolls like Mae… The Disney Animator doll feet are 2 1/8″ long and 1″ wide. The Moppets feet, like Mae, are 2″ long and 1.3″ wide. I tried to make something that would fit both dolls and hopefully these will.

This is the Disney Animator’s body…

This is the My Meadow Moppets body… this is Joy’s Mae…

I used leather for the soles of the sandals and then stretchy elastic trim for across the foot…

Then I made a loop from 1/4″ wide elastic and ran that through a casing at the back of the heel, hopefully it’s big enough for Mae’s feet to go through.

They look like this from the side.

I had to make them a little bit bigger and not so snug on Tinker Bell’s feet in case someone wants this for the Moppet doll.

Mae has some wonky toes and they are kind of all over the place, so I made the band across the foot to fit her foot as well as the Disney Animator doll feet.

This is a picture Joy sent me of Mae’s toes…

They are pretty easy to put on… just slip your dolls foot into the ankle loop and then under the trim across the top of the foot.

Tinker Bell was quite pleased with them and stood there saying, “take one more picture…”

“One more?”

I may attempt to make a hat from the rest of the scraps I have left from the dress. I think a ruffled bucket hat might be fun!

Well, I will see you Monday… Have a wonderful weekend! I’m going to!
Blessings, Jeanne

those sandals are just as cute as can be!! Using stretch trim for the “straps” should, indeed, provide some leeway in the fit department.

A bucket had would be fun….maybe the ruffle could be that cute little check? Just a thought….

I actually got Ron out for a haircut today, and we met our friends for supper at IHOP. I think Ron is definitely getting weaker again, though. I can tell by how he walks, how he gets in/out of the car, etc. But as long as he wants to go, I will take him.

Just as much as I think any little girl (or doll) would love to run around barefoot, I think these adorable little sandals would be the next best thing! As usual, you always think of the best thing in any situation, Jeanne, and make it as cute as can be! With these sandals, she can go just about anyplace and look perfectly dressed, plus she can keep those cute little feet clean!

Another bit of genius design: Adapts to two very different requirements in a single solution. And sooo cute!

Love the sandals with the outfit. Looks like Tink/Mae does too. A cute little hat would be fun with the outfit too. Maybe reversible with the checks? I’m sure it will be very sweet.
Well, early we have our plumber coming to run/clear our back line. Other person couldn’t get the shower to work in the other bath either. Very crabby with the virus. So, he’s in the process of making the line overflow so I guess I won’t get a turn until later. Ugh.
Hope everyone has a nice weekend. We’ll be heading down to the cemetery later to put out flowers in preparation for Memorial Day. Definitely be using the bbq for hot dogs, and I’m making potato salad. 🙂

What adorable little sandals. I love them and it seems you covered all your bases in making them too.

Family coming for Memorial Day Monday. Usually they came out here because we had a pool (city) and they don’t. Unfortunately the city will be tearing out our pool and putting in a fancy splash pad – which will probably not get used any more than the one we have in the park in town. I think they are making a bad decision on this and so do many others, but they never bothered to ask our opinion. They are just shunting business over to the pool at Stephen F. Austin Park or to Splashway water park south of us where I took Skyy and Jaiden last summer and will be doing again this summer. David will be cooking a brisket and I’m going to the local bbq joint to buy potato salad, baked beans and cucumber salad. They have the best of all of those things and it saves me from having to be on my feet too long since that is not working well for me these days.

Hope all my Sofa Sisters and their families have a great Memorial Day weekend.

How nice for you to have a good place to buy things for the 4th. That way, every one can enjoy the day.
I’d like to give some of the city planners around here a shake about some of their decisions. Hope yours decide to reopen the pool at some point.

Thank you so much Jeanne, Charlotte, and Karen for the birthday wishes. It was a good day and yes, it most certainly involved kitties. They got treats as well as always.
Very sweet sandals and being stretchy should work well. A sun hat with the ruffle in the checks would be very sweet.
Happy Memorial Day weekend to all my Sofa Sisters. It’s been so hot here that almost all our peonies are basically bloomed out already. The dark pink are trying to make it a couple more days. I don’t recall that ever happening.

  7. Happy Sunday, I seem to not get your blog for long stretches, so I went hunting this morning. Tinkerbell is so so adorable in this dress.
I hope all is well with everyone.
    Love, Rosemary
