My first T-Strap leather shoes for the Ruby Red Fashion Friends…

At least I think these are the first T-straps I’ve made. I don’t remember any others… They are DONE… They fit wonderfully… AND they have a magnetic closure! The best of all!!! :o)

Violette’s whole outfit is DONE! I can hardly believe it, but it’s true. My plan is to get it listed on Ebay Tuesday evening! I sure hope nothing gets in my way!

Violette’s shoes had dried by this morning and they slipped on her foot very nicely! I was a happy camper! I will be making these again… I only had to punch 4 holes but my thumb wasn’t hurt doing them.

Okay, who wants to see them?

They have a black leather sole and black trim around the edge.

A little gold metal brad on the strap grabs onto the magnet I have embedded into the shoe. Watch this…

I bet I tried 20 times to get a better video of the strap flopping over and just hooking, but none of them worked. I was holding my camera in my left hand and trying to flip the strap over, but my right hand kept getting in the way. When I finally got that 3 second video, I called it quits… I think you get it…

Now, how about some pictures of Violette in the whole outfit…

I’m trying to think of a good background for this dress, but I’m coming up blank… She might be doing the Charleston, but where is the ball room? She’s just in a stark white room. It’s easier to see the details of the dress without a distracting background, but it’s not as appealing to me. I don’t think outside will be much better… hmmm…

Well, it took me a while to get this one finished, but I have to admit, I’ve had LOTS of fun looking at ideas for this one! I hope you enjoyed the journey too!

I will see you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Everything about this outfit is just perfect, Jeanne!! As I write, my Diana is looking over my shoulder, and strongly hinting that she might look Really Good in teal!! 😂🤣

For a background, do you perhaps have some velour or velvet in a paler color? (It could even be a robe or other garment you own; if it’s long enough, no one will know it’s anything other than a drape!) That might add some richness and depth to the background, but not too distracting.

For a back story, perhaps she could be in a play (The Great Gatsby? or Thoroughly Modern Millie?) and, if you do use a velvety background, taking a curtain call? Or perhaps she found an old trunk in the attic and is playing dress-up with great-great-grandma’s clothes?

Ron did a little better today–walked around with me some, and sat down for dinner tonight. Now it’s about 4 more days…

Oh, those shoes are just perfect, Jeanne! I like the darker color, especially since they show off the tights better. It certainly does look like they work like a charm!

The whole outfit is just adorable, and poor Violette, to be losing this dress in a week or so, I am certain of that!!

For the background, maybe some velvet draped with a swag to one side? Kind of hard to explain, but first, a plain material, perhaps velvet, and then a contrasting piece over that, tied in a swag, with a gold braid and tassel hoding it back, if you get the idea.

Oh, Charlotte, your 50th! How wonderful, and hopefully it will happen!

You do have tons of fabric, and some must be drape-y. Charlotte and Linda are on to something. I had been thinking of something from Scenes and settings, like Molly’s house, but the drapes are better.

And now it’s time to think about what you’ve learned about what works best for you and your thumb so you can decide what’s next. That’s always fun.

I’m voting for outdoor photos, weather depending, but not in direct sun. Maybe with that great tree trunk Jeanne has as a background.

Joy, cicada’s are all over the place here, and it’s been raining off and on, which makes it wet out there!
      Do you have cicadas Jeanne?

Oh, so glad we don’t have those cicadas. What a strange lifespan they have Maybe it will clear for some photos for Jeanne?

Jeanne, you need the background I have that I think is a My Generation or one of the other 18″ doll backgrounds. I found it on eBay. If you want to see what it looks like I used it for the background of the Spring Fling pictures I sent you where my LD Greer Adele was the Spring Fling Princess. It’s great for a lot of things. I plan on using it as my stage background if I ever get around to doing my dance recital photo shoot.

I love the shoes and you are right that the magnetic clasp is the best. I wish more doll shoemakers would do something like this. I won the outfit you did for the RRFFs that included a pair of shoes with these clasps.

Unfortunately, with all the rain we have been having the mosquitos are here. Probably because there is so much standing water in places since nothing is able to dry up between rains. I haven’t heard the spraying truck yet but hopefully soon. David said he is getting a ton of them in his shop because it sits in the middle of our pasture. We’ve emptied everything we can but the ditches, puddles and retention ponds are hard to control without spraying.

Dorothy in PA and the World I keep missing your comments until the next day so I wait to reply and miss you again, but I wanted to tell you that October is my second favorite month – after May. I just wish my hubby would want to visit PA then. Since we have few to no family members there any longer (only a cousin in Tobyhanna that I do keep in touch with and some in the Bloomsburg area I don’t really know), we don’t visit that area any longer. I’ve managed to get him as far as northeastern Tennessee but visiting PA appeals more to me than it does to him. He’s a Rocky Mountain boy and I’m an Appalachian girl – enough said. I really want to visit Bethlehem. So much is happening there, but he’s not much interested in accompanying me on a Nostalgia Trail, so I’m limited to going myself vicariously on Google.

Linda and Charlotte have the right idea for a background. An Art Deco photo would work as well. Violette looks lovely.

The whole outfit is just perfect Jeanne, I love it. The shoes are wonderful. You are so clever. I am so glad your thumb is healing it must have been so frustrating for you.
Winter has arrived early here, though I think it is staring to get a little less cold now for a bit. We had -6C the other morning only .1 off the coldest on record for May and the heat pump in my sewing room has given up the ghost. I really hope I can get a new one, it is still under guarantee but the company who put it in changed hands and weren’t interested in helping. I found someone else to help and he took note of the serial no and going to see what he can do. Way too cold out there without heat.
Enjoy your spring everyone, I’ll be counting the days to ours, 101 days I think at the moment lol.

    1. Joy in northern CA

Oh, so sorry about the heater problem. Definitely need to get it fixed so that you can have some more sewing escapades. Love seeing your fab creations. We’ve just turned off our heat for hopefully until October. Yet more power increases around here. Ugh
      Take care.
