I don’t think Violette is half as thrilled as I am!!! I need to look back at when I started this dress for Violette! (I did… it was May 2nd, when I showed you the dress I found to cut up and started the bodice.) It’s been almost 2 weeks in the making! I guess I’ve spent more time on some others, but this one was particularly taxing as I was wanting to do things and couldn’t and then trying to figure out other ways to do things. Somehow it all came together and I’m very pleased. I was racing against the clock tonight trying to get it listed on Ebay at a reasonable time. I think I got it on at 2 minutes till 9:00. I was searching for things to make her background look vintage. I need to work on my backgrounds a little more diligently!
BEE’S KNEES is now listed on Ebay and you can see it by clicking the picture at the right side bar or you can click HERE.
It was raining and raining off and on all day, and when I finally decided to venture out, most everything was soaking wet. I wanted to get a picture by my gnarly tree roots, Joy, but they were so soggy, and ants were crawling all around on the tree, so I passed on that spot. I did take Violette out to the bricks and then a few other places. Here are some of my pictures.
It was kind of fun seeing the pictures turned black and white. Here are a few more…
Now, I guess it’s that time to decide who is next up for an outfit?
I will see you tomorrow!
Blessings, Jeanne
Very cute! Love your shoes, I just bought American Girl Evette and Violette could be sisters. Good Luck on the Auction!
Hi Sylvia
Glad you like Violettes shoes! She told me they were comfortable. :o)
Congratulations on getting Evette. A new doll to sew for! Have fun,
Blessings, Jeanne
The entire ensemble is just simply perfection, Jeanne!! I like everything about it.
Thank you Charlotte! Is it Blue Ribbon worthy, Judge Charlotte? :o)
Blessings, Jeanne
Your work Always is, Jeanne!!
Your almost two weeks of work have turned out to be one of the most darling outfits you ever made, Jeanne! Everything, from the smaller accessories to the biggest is just perfect and worthy of being called a Jeanne Marie Original!
I love the black and white photography! I actually prefer it to color for portraits, and had my grandchildren’s senior pictures made into black and white ones, because they show facial features better and look so classy! Why, even my wedding pictures were done in black and white!
You haven’t mentioned having cicadas, and I can’t believe you don’t, because they are ALL OVER here!
After reading that first line, it doesn’t sound right! Should not have “to be”! Wish we could correct our mistakes, but there they are for all the world to see!
Thanks Linda,
Your compliments mean a lot to me I’m! I’m so glad you like it all!!
Jeanne Marie Originals… that’s what my business was called when I was making antique reproduction women’s dresses. :o)
Since this was a 20’s dress, I couldn’t resist a few black and white pictures.
I haven’t seen any cicadas
so far… neither has George… I hope they don’t come… they aren’t my favorites…
Blessings, Jeanne
Even the background is perfect! Pictures were all black and white then. That didn’t change until after I was born! Best of luck with the bidding!
Hi Susette
The background was a piece of light green brocade.
I was thinking of your picture when I was taking Violette’s. Glad you liked them.
Blessings, Jeanne
How fun. Great group of pics. Thanks for trying some outdoor shots because they are great. I especially like the green grass behind on the headshot. That is my favorite although some of the black/white are special as well. I agree that the dampness and ants crawling on the tree photo wouldn’t have been so great either. I like the indoor shot with the vintage backdrop items as well. A big congrats on all of the bids I see this morning. This is going to be a hot item.
Next Ruby Red looks to be medieval theme. I’d love to see Jeanne make her own version of that. 🙂
Hi Joy,
I was really glad to see the rain finally stopped and the sun came out, but it was so sloppy it was really hard to find a halfway dry spot anywhere in the yard. I’m glad I got the shots I did.
I saw that Medieval doll in her very pretty dress and had to scrutinize it. Martha does really nice work and I used to follow her blog. She makes some of the most incredible accessories for her outfits.
Maybe I’ll try my hand at a dress soon.
Blessings, Jeanne
I’m not fond of black and white photos having grown up at the time when color photos were very expensive. All my “family” photos from my youth are black and white and, while I know what color the clothes, etc., were, trying to explain that to others is difficult – like the beautiful burnt orange suit I had for Easter one year. You would have to see it in color to get the idea. That said, I love, love, love the black and whites of Violette in her amazing outfit. The ones in color show the colors of the lovely fabric but the black and white are so vintage looking and so appropriate for the time frame of the outfit. I know this one is going to do well.
Hi Barbara
We have a lot of black and white pictures of when we were kids in the mid 50’s.
I have only done a handful of pictures in black and white for my dolls but the 20’s theme for this dress just called for a few. So I obliged!
Thanks Susette,
Blessings, Jeanne
Dear Jeanne, oh my goodness, she looks adorable. You really did finish this job in record time with an injured digit, I might add. I think it is the magic of May that everything came together and you created a beautiful outfit! The pictures are so pretty, especially the Black and White ones.
Hi Dorothy,
It seemed like forever to me to get this dress set finished. Maybe I just needed May to arrive! :o)
I like the black and white pictures too!
I’ll have to do it again sometime!
Thanks Dorothy,
Blessings, Jeanne
Violette’s whole outfit turned out so beautifully. I like black and white photographs for some things as long as I can have a color one as well. I had black and white portraits done of my daughter (and have some of myself as a child), but my very favorites were the ones I had done in sepia tone because they look like old ‘daguerreotypes’. I love Civil war and Victorian/Edwardian ‘daguerreotypes’.
Hi Laura,
I’m glad you like Violette’s set. She was a good sport through it all.
I thought the black and white pictures would help us travel back to the 20’s. I love how they turned out.
I like the sepia toned pictures too.
Thanks so much
Blessings, Jeanne
