Delightful Dolly Dresses Discovered!

Hi everyone,
Things are going well here… lots and lots of visiting which is SO nice and “some” shopping, but not as much as before. We did notice a sale happening in town that we are planning to go to. It might “take the cake” as far as thrift shopping goes! It’s a World Hunger Sale and we saw a video of them setting things up and it looks VERY exciting! (most exciting for Rebecca, who loves to bargain shop and then resell her finds.) Karn said he’d be the “holder of things” and my hubby said he’d take the things to the counter and pay for them and take them to the car. We all have our jobs! :o)

Okay… so yesterday I showed Barbara’s beautiful and huge Crepe Myrtle tree and I was going to look for doll dresses to show in the light lavender and pinkish toned colors to go with her tree, but I saw some of my archived pictures and decided to go with pictures of details…

Today I was going to do a few more of them but I found some more older pictures and some probably not seen at all and decided to show them… I hope you’ll enjoy today’s episode of “Jeanne’s archived dolly dresses!”

Way back in 2005 I took a few special orders and these were a few for one lady. She told me what she wanted and I tried to deliver. I am a terrible critic of them today… but back then I’m sure I was pleased as punch with them…

This next dress got me in hot water! It too, was a special order back in 2010, and the first lady was VERY pleased with it… but somehow another lady found out about it…(I’m thinking maybe from the first lady posting it on Pinterest) I wasn’t blogging them and not taking pictures of my dresses, so I can’t quite remember how it happened, but the first lady found out I had made a second dress for another lady and the first lady was VERY upset. I was in a real state…not knowing what to do… and I actually can’t even remember how I solved the dilemma… maybe I made a different colored purse or used a different button on the front… but anyway, I decided not to make duplicates anymore unless I mentioned that one MAY be made in the future. I lost sleep over this goof! :o(

This next dress was another special order dress and believe it or not… it was from the lady mentioned above, for a friend of hers. I can’t remember all the details of it either, but I guess she forgave me…

Remember the dress I showed you a few days ago from my friend from church… the Chinese “origami” front dress? This was the dress I was searching for, thinking it was kind of like Sylvia’s red dress, but when I see it now, it’s not anything like hers was. It was made in 2009 and I think this was so pretty… It was my own design…and I think it looks wonderful on Elizabeth AND Addy.

This was my Hope doll (by Kaye Wiggs) showing off her debut dress back in 2012. She is supposed to be an Aboriginal girl and I still have her, but I’m thinking of selling her. When I see how sweet she looks I’m not sure though.

This was another dress for Hope in a totally different color… pink and white and lime green… She was one of my first articulated dolls and I LOVED posing her. She’s 17″ tall and made of french resin, so she’s quite heavy… I used to do window displays for a really fancy ladies store in the mall, and sometimes my dolls remind me of doing that… posing them with special props… Isn’t she sweet with her little poodle?

Well, that will be all for today… “Hope” you enjoyed them all!
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

This was a fun post, of many things I had never seen before! Lots to look at tonight!

In looking at your first grouping, I can see how far your skills have advanced since you started doing doll clothes! The clothes fit the dolls better, and you use more embellishments, and add more accessories than you used to. That said, I do have a favorite piece in that first bath–the parka. I think it’s really well done, and a nice addition to any doll’s winter wardrobe.

As for the rest of the garments, I absolutely love Felicity’s beautiful cream-colored dress! Your Hope doll is lovely, and her second outfit is my favorite of the two.

Oops! That should be “a favorite in that first BATCH”!! Usually I proofread better than that!

I had some crazy thing going on when I first tried to access the blog this morning. It kept telling me my settings weren’t private and I should go back or risk someone stealing my personal information. I closed the blog down and tried again. Same thing. Finally whatever was going on has stopped and I could get on. Since Charlotte is the only comment showing up on my computer I wonder if others are having the same problem.

Now for the clothes. I loved the first one. I just seem to like the “jumper” look, especially when you don’t have to make the blouse separately LOL. And the white colonial dress with the hat is absolutely beautiful. I like all the others too, especially the last one on Hope. You have expressed exactly why I don’t sew specifically for others. I will say no more on that other than I had a friend once who earned money sewing for others, in addition to her day job. She was in a constant state of frustration. She had the women pick out the patterns and fabric and she fitted the clothes to the women and still they complained. Finally she just stopped doing it, which was a shame because she enjoyed the creative experience.

I don’t know if you should sell any of your Kaye Wiggs dolls. The clothes you make them are lovely and the ability to pose the dolls is an added plus. I have been looking at Kaye Wiggs dolls on eBay and there are few of them and the prices are high. If you sell yours and then down the road want another one it may be impossible to find one you can afford. But that’s just me wishing I had bought one years ago.

My Ellowyne arrived this morning and she is absolutely beautiful. Pictures will be coming down the road. She is “Essential Ellowyne, Too”. I had trouble finding a brunette since it seems they are in short supply. I did not want a blonde because while they are pretty they are not as striking and since I want to photograph her, I thought the brunette would be best. She came from Ontario, Canada, and is looking forward to living in Texas, in spite of the concern for the summer heat.

  3. I don’t normally post, but wanted to confirm to Barbara that I, too, had the log-on issues this morning.
I’m enjoying the look back at your past work! And agree, custom orders are stressful!

I’m another person with who received the same “warning.” I didn’t go forward but waited a few hours to try again. Two different mini photos appeared… for two different links to a “idreamofjeannemarie.com” site. So maybe someone is trying something weird.

So glad the blog is back on. I was able to open my email, but there were no pictures except blank boxes. The comment came up as a red flag and dangerous, so I gave up. Even tried going through the net and that didn’t work either. Anyway, looks like all is well now. 🙂
I Hope, Hope, Hope, that you don’t sell Hope, but if you do, there are lots of sites on FB for selling so you wouldn’t be out Ebay fees. I’ll bet if you asked your readers, I’m sure many would also be interested in her. If you keep her, I think she needs a lovely white dress “similar” to what you showed in photos on an AG. Would really set off her coloring. Love that doll.
Around here, still more weed pulling. Yesterday, other person even helped out. I think he took pity on me as I was sitting on a bank surrounded by three foot high weeds sneezing away. We cleared that area so now it will be on to another before the seeds start to flying. 🙂

Dear Jeanne, what lovely dresses! I love the pink and green one that you made for Hope.

I can’t wait to see what finds you make in your shopping excursion. I love that everyone has her or his job mapped out (laugh).

May is just a week away!
