First of all, who saw the ending of the auction last night for the dress Molly and Kate were modeling? It was so much fun at the end…there were 17 bids placed in the last 2 minutes. My phone was pinging like crazy! And I was concerned when I listed the dress that I had left out the key words… like “doll” and “Kit,” but I guess it didn’t seem to matter in the end. 2 ladies wanted it and there was a race against time to see who was left standing at the last second. Thank you dear winner… if you are reading this…
Second of all, thank you Dorothy, for your sweet poem about Kathie. It was so touching and so well written. Thank you from all of us for doing that! :o)
I can’t believe I hurt my hand RIGHT at Easter time, the very time I had something new to make and add to all the dolls out there who wanted to have gloves to go with their dresses! I’m wanting to make those tiny little gloves so much, and I can actually stitch them okay, because it’s just a matter of moving the fabric around under the machine, but it just hurts too much to cut them out. Thr squeezing the scissors tohether is what’s got me licked! 😭
I do have a few pictures of what I “was” working on… and the few I had gotten finished…I know the black ones aren’t really for Easter or Spring, but I was testing out different fabrics. They look SO much cuter when on the dolls hands than just laying flat like this.
So…when you’re up against a wall, do whatever you CAN do… I can clean out a drawer… so I did. Yesterday, Barbara was talking about finding shoes for her Boneka dolls, and I opened my drawer of shoes for my smaller dolls and it was a disaster, so I straightened them up..
…and some Ultrasuede boots I had made for the Little Darlings years ago… I need to make an outfit to go with them…
Then I moved to the next drawer… all my hair thingies… and extra bows I’ve made…
I moved to the drawer next to it… some ribbons I just had in a box… and “sort of” organized them… at least they are in a drawer…
These are the shoes I have for Nyssa and Ellowyne and a few pairs of thigh highs and tights.
As I was lightly cleaning, I ran across this sweet collar, still with the tag on it from Switzerland, I had bought at an Estate sale and noticed the colors were VERY similar to the dress Molly still had on. I held it up to the fabric and it was a perfect match… I know it’s a baby collar and too “babyish” for the dress, but aren’t the colors pretty with the fabric.
It had a cotton layer behind the sheer collar…
I pulled the cotton layer up so you could see the sheer collar against the fabric. I thought it was such a good match. Too bad I don’t make baby doll dresses… Oh well, I better not start anything else.
Well, I better get to bed… I have this funny feeling when I sign off now and say I’m going to bed, that some of you whisper a quick and quiet prayer like, “Lord, keep Jeanne in the bed, and off the floor!” :o)
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
Congratulations on a very successful auction, Jeanne!! I knew that dress was a real winner!!
Dorothy, your poem was lovely, and I’m sure that Kathie’s family will be so pleased.
Wow, Jeanne, you really got organized! Everything looks so nice now.
Dear Charlotte, thank you for your kind words. I was happy to create something from the Sofa Sisters.
Oh Jeanne, I feel for you with that thumb! Like I mentioned yesterday, I had an inflamed thumb joint (arthritis) during Christmas preparations! And of course, I am left handed, BUT I use my right hand for cutting with scissors, ironing, using the mouse on a computer, and I also bat right handed, but throw left handed, swing a golf club right handed too! But overall, I am left handed and yes, it is amazing how much you use that that thumb!!
Wow, that auction! What a lucky person who won that pretty outfit!
I was just thinking, that baby collar would come in handy one day if you get a granddaughter! What a sweet collar!
Your drawers look very nice and tidy! Doesn’t it feel good?
the bruising and mild swelling might mean you could have torn or hopefully only stretched a ligament. Be gentle. use ice and elevate to prevent fluid build up and encourage circulation (I am an olden nurse and I just can’t shut up sometimes)
You might want to get a splint for your hand just to rest your thumb and protect it. If you buy one, get a larger size, even though compression is good you do not need too tight. I am concerned about the swelling that goes almost to your wrist.
Gosh I am so annoyed with injuries. I hope you can recover easily. Icing it is still okay. puttering around is just the ticket. I usually try to get stuff done that I am too busy for otherwise, when I have a stupid injury
Congratulations on the sale.
Great post and helpful to all. Thanks Nurse Rosemary. 🙂
A big congrats on your auction. That is great news.
I don’t suppose that you have a pair of left handed scissors laying around somewhere? I’ll bet you could make them work.
Great job on the organization. 🙂
I finally got around to ordering some seeds yesterday that I couldn’t find locally. Got one notice from Paypal. But, this morning, there are three charges for the same items from the seed place. Just great. Contacted them, and they are supposed to credit my PP. Let’s hope. They only showed one order, but there are three. Always something.
Very foggy here this morning, but sun to arrive later. Need to spend a lot more time in the yard before the expected rain Friday.
I just read your reply to me from yesterday. I don’t know what size the L’il Dreamer shoes are because I’ve only bought shoes especially for them from the sites that sell them specifically for the dolls, but I do know the Boneka dolls take a 38mm and when I tried the L’il Dreamer shoes on my Boneka dolls they fit perfectly and that was with socks. I have actually had some trouble with the L’il Dreamer shoes fitting those dolls. The straps don’t seem long enough at times and I had to order Siblie boots for Alora’s winter outfit because I absolutely could not get her foot in the boots that went with the outfit unless I took the leggings off and I didn’t want to do that. One would think I didn’t have anything else to stress about LOL. I too miss Monique.
Okay, I just answered my own question. I had to do a search and finally found my cm ruler. Then , I measured my Li’l Dreamer’s foot. Had to find her too.
Her foot is: 38cmX18cm
But her shoes are: 45cmX20cm
Probably because she is wearing fairly heavy tights with the shoes.
So, she may be able to wear 40cm shoes or 45cm depending on socks/shoes.
I didn’t want to remove the tights as I’d probably never be able to get them back on, so I allowed for without tights in the measurements with a fairly accurate guess. Also, just left the shoe strap almost unbuckled so I could tighten it again after removing. So small for these fingers.
Sure wish they made dolls to fit standard sizes. Now, I need to see what size some of the Meadow kids wear. Might be a match there although most of their feet are on the chubby side. If you find a doll that wears either size above, let me know.
Thanks so much.
Dear Jeanne, you are welcome. We all know my can’t list (can’t cook, can’t sew, etc.) – laugh.
Luckily I can write. I am always happy to share that talent when I can.
Wishing your thumb a speedy recovery.
And FYI. There are only 42 days until May!
