A few things first… I received a sweet picture from the winner of Molly’s blue and yellow dress…She was thrilled to have won it!
I “finally” got something composed and in the mail to Kathie’s family. I used everyone’s comments and emails and ended with Dorothy’s sweet poem. I signed it from The Sofa Sisters and me. I keep finding things in my sewing room that came from Kathie… I even had a designated drawer filled with lace she had sent me over the years. She will be missed… Keep their family in your prayers as this Easter and Mother’s Day holidays get closer… those will be hard!
I can tell you my thumb is not much better than it was yesterday… I was so fed up with not being able to use scissors… which means I can’t cut out anything, which means I can’t work on anything, that I wanted to cry! If I had something cut out, I could put it together… my hand resting on the sewing machine or guiding the fabric with it, doesn’t hurt… it’s when I press my fingers together or try to use those scissors… AAARRRGGG!
I did use my Featherweight sewing machine this evening and stitched around 2 more pair of white lace gloves, but trying to cut around the fingers with those scissors did me in, so I had to quit… sorry! I guess my Easter days are done. :o( :o(
I need to start on Easter in January and Christmas in July…
Okay… instead of posting pictures of past doll dresses, I thought maybe I’d show you some things I saw on Pinterest… Things for making your Easter celebrations just a little bit prettier. Some of the things I saw weren’t even necessarily Easter, they were just beautiful ways of making something ordinary, extraordinary! :o)
Here is the link to them…
Deviled Eggs Tulips
If you’d like a colorful plate of eggs, why stick with just yellow filling… look at these beauties… (I discovered this was just a stock photo.)
These deviled eggs are so elegant… or maybe egg-legant!
How about some tomato’s filled with cream cheese…
How about some Deviled Egg Easter Baskets…
Well that’s enough on deviled eggs… (I got a little carried away because we raise chickens and get eggs every day!) :o)
Actually I’m going to have to quit for tonight… my hand is hurting… but do look on Pinterest if you need some Easter ideas… They have EVERYTHING. I just looked under “Easter ideas for food”
Good night everyone,
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
Oh, Jeanne, I’m sorry your hand is giving you such pain. If you haven’t already done so, Please PLEASE go and see a doctor! It could be something has really been damaged in there, and it needs to be checked out. Otherwise your healing could take a Lot longer–and maybe not even be as complete as if you’d had it seen to.
Thanks for assembling everyone’s comments to send to Kathie’s family from all of us. I’m sure they’ll be very touched to see how many people knew and loved her.
Well, these are some really fun ideas for Easter foods! We have a brunch at our church; otherwise I might be tempted to do the cream cheese-stuffed tomato tulips!! I will have to check the sign-up sheet; I know there will be quiche, a breakfast casserole or two, croissants (butter/jam), bacon, a fruit tray, and not sure what else. I decided to bring croissants, etc., because I have a function to attend the day before Easter, and won’t really have much time to cook. Plus if Ron comes with me, that takes extra time in the morning.
On your hand, Charlotte is right. If something is broken, you need to know so that it heals properly. Your hand will thank you.
On the gloves, are you using embroidery scissors? Or do you have a neat-handed friend who could cut for you? You’ve done favors for many people. Someone might love to pay you back. Or they could cut large pieces and you could use embroidery scissors for small pieces. Maybe.
Jeanne, please have your hand checked out! If this happened Saturday morning, and now it is Thursday, you should have had more healing by now.
I have seen those egg flowers on Facebook, plus some others, but if it were me doing the whole dinner and getting the house ready, etc., then I would be doing the deviled eggs the usual plain way!! However, if that was my one contribution to the dinner, I would go all out, like these!
That was so nice of the lady who bought Molly’s dress, to send a picture! Her Molly looks adorable!
I’m for a trip to the clinic too. Marilyn’s right. I noticed in the picture yesterday that there’s a slight bump at the base of your thumb that looks a bit unnatural. Won’t hurt to have it checked out, or probably it will, but better to have it checked out. Do we need to do a survey of how many vote for having it checked out?
I missed commenting on Sissy’s darling St. Patrick’s Day ☘️ dolls. She is really an accomplished seamstress and designer to create all the tiny outfits for such little characters. Thanks for sharing them. Karen, have a safe pregnancy and a happy and healthy addition to your family. Jeanne, the framed needlework pieces are wonderful additions to your beautiful kitchen.
How sweet of you to remember Kathie’s family. We will be keeping all of them in our prayers for many months.
I do not think you have a fracture (old RN here). Some times “crush injuries” can be worse than a break. I know you are being cautious. keep icing in the evening after a day of walking around and doing things.
If it feels better without a splint that is good too. The healing with take f.o.r.e.v.e.r. trust me on that. …elevate when you can.
Some heat treatments for a short period are okay too, to increase the circulation and encourage fluids to settle away….. 😂😂😂 listen to me haha haha
Those eggie dishes look sweeet. I am going to make some for next Fridays visit with my sister.
those egg tulips look really difficult to make…. just imagine haha
Sorry the hand/thumb is taking it’s time healing. Is it improving everyday? If not, then I join the others in getting it checked out. Then, you’d know and could get on with activities as you can.
I saw that tulip egg pic recently in a magazine, but I don’t think anyone in our family would eat them. But, I did see some cute egg boats that I thought of making with the grands. Regular eggs and filling but with an added 1/2 folded slice of salami and a black olive on top secured with a fancy pick from the top into the egg. I know everyone would eat those items. Daughter and middle grand made something with flowers added some years ago and well, not my favorite, Picky eater here. Although, those egg baskets are very attractive. 🙂
A big thank you for putting all of the outpourings of sympathy together for Kathie’s family. So nice of you. I’m sure that it will be appreciated.
And a fun pic of the dress worn by it’s new owner. Even has adorable matching shoes. Cute.
Rain heading in tomorrow. Hope it doesn’t knock over all of the daffodils. And it looks like the apricot tree, now in bloom, will not have any fruit as usual. Oh well, the squirrels usually get the meager crop first anyway.
I usually go back to the previous day and check for any new comments. Sorry I missed yours yesterday but I did go back and read it today. I have all my doll sizes for shoes written down and I have my Meadow Lolla and my Boneka dolls both at 38mm. I have my MA Lissy doll at 42mm but don’t seem to have anyone at 40mm. Everyone else is either bigger or much smaller. It used to be so easy to find shoes. But it seems even when I do find the size the selection is not good. Maybe we all need to follow Jeanne and start making our own shoes. I’m starting to notice there are more molds available for several size dolls. Some of them are pretty pricey but there are some that are more reasonable, especially when it seems the price of the shoes is going up all the time. And then there are the Superheroes.
Making doll shoes is an idea but I’m not sure around here its time has come. I’ll just keep searching. Looks like your apricots got the way of our pears but it’s the birds that get them.
I know the shoe dilemma. So many sizes. Mine are not as organized as yours for sure. I’ve made some felt shoes and some of pleather, but nothing like Jeanne’s amazing shoes. Not sure if I want to try as there are so many great shoes out there. Costly though.
As to the fruit trees, I can remember our 90 plus year old neighbor getting up on a ladder and covering his huge cherry tree with netting to keep the birds from eating his crop. After he died, eventually the tree did as well. 🙁
So sorry your hand is still troubling you. If you have a bone bruise it will seem like it takes forever to get over that. I went to the doctor once after I walked into a half-opened door in the dark and hit above my eye. Everything was okay but he told me I had a bone bruise and would have to be patient. It was weeks before I could touch it without pain. But it’s much harder being patient when you can’t use your hand. I know that from experience.
I’ve never been one for cooking. I often wished that had been my passion because I had to do it every day. If I’m going to cook I’d rather do something new and different from a recipe but hubby is a strictly a simple fare kind of guy. I once made asparagus with a nice sauce. I thought it was delicious but he asked me to leave the sauce off his. So over the years I’ve just aimed for getting something on the table as fast as I could so I could get to sewing. But I would love to try some of these ideas. My family all loves deviled eggs and we always have them for every family meal. Since I’ve learned to hard boil the eggs in my pressure cooker/air fryer, we have hard boiled eggs more often and deviled eggs for special occasions. It’s hard for me to imagine filling the “tulips” and not having the eggs fall apart but I’d sure like to give it a try.
I love seeing the winning dolls dressed in their I Dream of Jeanne Marie couture. Molly looks so sweet.
It’s raining at the moment and I think I’m hearing thunder. We ordered some four o’clock seeds for all our flower beds. It seems they are the only thing we can grow here that the moles don’t eat the roots. And they are beautiful when they’re blooming late in the day and evening. They survive drought conditions and thrive when it rains and they seem to choke out weeds. In the winter they totally disappear. It’s like someone is underground pulling them down. Then when spring comes they pop up like crazy. And they can take the heat here with no problem. We already have pink ones so we bought some red, yellow and white. But it seems they have to be planted separately because some colors seem to dominate. We have tried to get some yellow in with our pink for years but the pink takes over every time. And they spread on their own. Seems like the perfect solution for someone who hasn’t got anything near a green thumb.
Don’t know if you caught it yesterday, but I finally got the measurement for the Li’l Dreamer foot.
Barbara, I will have to look for four-o’clock seeds; it seems the perfect solution for this non-gardener!!
The winner’s Molly looks so sweet in her new dress. Sorry your thumb is still having problems. Those jamming injuries take a v..e..r..y long time to heal.
Those egg ideas look great! I’ve seen the tomato tulips before and the Egg Easter baskets were featured in an issue of TeaTime many years ago.
I wanted to tell Dorothy in PA that her poem was absolutely beautiful and heartfelt.
Dear Laura, thank you for your sweet words. It was my way of making a little contribution to the memory of one of our Sofa Sisters.
I agree with everyone who has advised you to get your hand examined by a doctor. Please do it!
Dear Jeanne, I hope your thumb was feeling better today. It looks like you have gotten a ton of organizing done. I have asked the dollies to help with organizing here but the just roll their eyes (laugh).
