My day was filled with paperwork, phone calls, waiting on hold and online searching, so I never made it into my sewing room… my plan was to decide who might be up next for a dress.
When Laura mentioned Easter was coming early this year, I checked my calendar, which was still on January, and searched for Easter… YIKES… March 31st!!!
60 days away!! DOUBLE YIKES!!!
Someone, tell me it isn’t so…
But it is, so I guess I’ll start on Easter dresses…or maybe a St. Patrick’s Day dress or two.
It’s a good thing I received some pictures from Kathie… they are sweet!!
You’ll find they’re a little bit Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day and Easter!
I hope to be back in my sewing room tomorrow!
Blessings, Jeanne
What wonderful pictures, Kathie!! You have some lovely dolls, and in beautiful clothes!
I love the red gingham dress in the first two pictures. I think I have some tiny check, and will have to try smocking it and see how it works for me. As I recall I bought it in red, aqua, and navy, although I’m not sure how much I have left as I used two of them for other things some years ago!
My other favorite is the lavender organdy (I think) dress in the third picture. Is that a Dewees Cochran doll modeling it?
Your other dolls/outfits are wonderful, too! But those two were my favorites.
Oh Kathie, what sweet pictures of dolls and dresses! I especially love that first smocked dress, just love it! I’m a sucker for smocking, so I made sure my daughter had several, although I didn’t do them, Polly Flinders did! I also love the shoes that go with that dress! You certainly have darling shoes for your dolls! And the gnome! I am also using one for one of my Valentine displays!
The darling St. Patrick’s Day scene is perfect! I love that little leprechaun outfit!! Did you make it! I know you are an expert sewer!
I too, love that lavender dress! It reminds me of a dress my mother made for me when I was little. And that darling sweater set! Did you make that too?
That last picture is darling! Reminds me of the days when we dressed up for Easter!
That blue dress is what I imagine my RRFF of the future would wear! (if she ever comes to my house to live!)
Just realized after rereading what I wrote, that the word “darling” comes up quite a bit!😊
This will be our first Easter in our new (to us) church. Not too many in our other church dressed for Easter, even the children, but we have a strong Nigerian membership and they always dress for church. Maybe I’m old fashioned but dressing nice for church is a sign of respect in my thinking and the Nigerian women always look special for church and their daughters always look adorable. I saw this on Christmas Eve so I’m sure it will be even more so for Easter and I’m looking forward to it.
Hi Linda,
I too, wore Polly Flinders and still have my dresses put carefully away in storage. My daughter got to wear them as well.
Sorry that Jeanne, didn’t get into her sewing room, but at this time of year very understandable.
A big thank you to Kathie, as seeing her lovely dressed dolls was such a treat. I too love that red/white checked dress. So sweet. Everyone is so nicely dressed and ready for the next holidays. The dollies around here are very jealous.
I’ve had computer problems the last couple of days and finally contacted McAfee to see if they could find out why I had been hijacked by Yahoo. Fortunately, they were able to fix it remotely doing things that I would never have been able to figure out. It’s back to normal now, and what a relief. 🙂
Pretty soggy around here, and probably some more rain today. Kind of like the 50’s, when we would have rain for many days at a time.
Definitely need to remember to change the calendar too.
Take care everyone.
Gosh…thank you everyone for all the nice comments🥰
I have better feelings about the red and white check one now🤗
What adorable pictures of your Dollie’s, Kathie. They are all ready for the upcoming events. The red check dress is really sweet and with the knome, looks like they’re both ready for Valentine’s Day.
The lovely blue dress is very pretty and will be perfect for Easter.
Love the matching stockings on the St. Patrick’s Day girl! She’s covered from head to toe in Irish tradition.
Thank you Kathie for sending your pictures to Jeanne for all of us to see.
Jeanne, can’t wait to see who’s up next in your sewing room. Hope you get all your tasks done today! I know the feeling!
Kathie, your dollies and their dresses are lovely. Do I spy a Bleuette in a hand-knitted sweater and cap? I love the lavender organdy dress, but everything is just wonderful.
Those Dollie’s were able to have a change of clothes. The Christmas outfits were put away and some favorites came out again.
To “Darling”Linda 🤭and Charlotte, l did make the smocked dress but was never happy with the neckline but had too much work in it not to use it.🤔 The StPats Day dress was fun to make and it turned out well. The Dewees Cochran doll is an Effanbee reproduction and the dress was originally gray. Ick, why would you put a sweet little girl in gray…so I dyed it. It does look lavender in the pic but is a Smokey blue. The sweater was made by my friends mother. It is a real favorite. I am yarn challenged so I do admire anyone who is talented enough to make something so sweet and tiny.
We are going to the bank today because there is something odd going on with our debit cards. I watch the charges like a hawk and a couple months ago there was a charge that was an error…so I had to get a new card… what a pain. Then that new card would not go thru when I put a grocery order and Walmart customer service said to call the bank. The person at Wells Fargo told me “that happens sometimes” and when it does to call the number on the card for help. Seriously? Standing in line with a debit card that isn’t going thru and calling the 800#? I don’t think so. Then yesterday Mikes debit card had some weird charges on it. The bank caught it but now both our cards need to be re issued . That takes way more than a week so now we need to carry cash or checks…😝Technology is awesome….when it works!
I have not had any problems with my debit card so far but David is constantly having problems with his business account card. He has had to have several investigations to discredit the charges and a new card issued. Since we have had them our bank has only texted the date and amount but not to whom and every time I wanted to know what a charge was for I had to look it up. It’s amazing how many transactions one has in even a week. Thankfully their new system also includes the place as well as the date and amount so charges can be challenged faster.
Hi Kathie,
Sorry about your debit card. I had that happen to me recently, but luckily my bank has a fraud department that alerts me right away so I can dispute. I did have to get a new card number though.
I’m going to go against the grain and say I love gray both for myself and would like it for dolls. Samantha’s school dress is gray and it’s one of my favorites.
Dear Kathie, how lovely to see your doll children. Seeing the Little Darlings especially makes me smile.
Oh, Kathie, I love your dolls in their occasion attire. The little red and white checked dress is cuter than cute and I think the neckline looks just fine. And the Gnome is adorable. I love Gnomes and have several Gnome embroidery designs. Your “antique” dolls look lovely in their outfits. The smokey blue dress does look on the purple side but smokey blue is good and you did a great job of dying it. The little sweater set on your other doll is very nice. I can crochet but I can’t knit. If I want to make something small I need to use crochet cotton where knitting small things in yarn seems to work fine. Jo Flitton’s sister used to knit sweaters to go with outfits Jo created. They were for the 8″ Heartstring dolls. She actually knitted designs on the fronts of them. It always amazed me. The St. Patrick’s Day girls look like their ready for the parade to start. Really cute outfits. The girls dressed for the Easter parade look so pretty. Thanks so much for sending them to Jeanne to share.
Well I had a fun afternoon yesterday. I was trying to download some embroidery designs when I realized I had never installed my 6D software on this computer. So I installed it but was having trouble getting my dongle to install and you can’t use the software without the dongle being plugged in. At one point I was told
to reboot my computer to get everything up and running so I did. After rebooting when I tried to pull up my Quicken to add something, it said it had to be updated so it did that but when I tried to access my accounts they were gone. This never happened before and I had no clue what to do. I back it up on a flash drive but hadn’t done that in awhile because it’s supposed to do an automatic back-up. I tried using one of the recent auto back-ups but nothing was there. It’s the time of year when I’m getting ready for taxes so I need the figures. Finally I went back to the list and tried another back-up file and I ended up only missing a couple weeks and those are for this year so I’m good to go for last year. As Kathie said technology is awesome – when it works.
Sounds like we were both in the Battle of the Computer the last few days. I finally resorted to System Restore and set it back three days which fixed most of my problems. But, not the Yahoo hijacking. Took big guns McAfee to fix that. So glad you were able to get yours fixed as you know so much more about them than I ever will. 🙂
Oh my Kathie, what sweet dolls and gorgeous clothes! The red gingham smocked one is my favorite complete with darling shoes. I love the big bow in the back. I am of the opinion that all little girl dresses need that! Her gnome friend is fun.
Love the doll in the the lilac organdy. She’s very pretty.
The St. Paddy’s day one is so cute with the shamrock everywhere. I really like the light blue on your Little Darling, especially the ruffled hairband. Thank you for sharing your sweet dolls.
Yay, bright sunshine today after many days of clouds. Certainly improves one’s spirits.
Kathie, your dresses are darling. Everything about the red and white gingham dress blows me away: the smocking, collar, sleeve, setting – and I could go on!
What a nice treat to see Kathie’s dolls all dressed up for Valentines Day and St. Patrick’s Day. Great job on the dress with smocking and wearing of the Green. Love seeing other Sofa Sisters’ dolls. Thanks for sharing your darling dolls.
Joy, the Pineapple Express has arrived in Southern California. To quote the song:
“It never rains in California
But girl, don’t they warn ya?
It pours, man, it pours.”
Decades ago I stepped out into 6” of water in the garage after driving my Fiero home from work through at least 18” of water at times. Don’t know how it managed but it did have to have the electrical replaced that was located under the driver’s seat as well as the carpets. Fortunately the house has two steps up so no damage there. Wish us luck as more is expected next week!
We got out for a walk this morning and when almost home it started sprinkling again. Fortunately, we had umbrellas. By the time we walked inside, it started pouring and then we had hail. Crazy.
We have so many flooded creeks etc. around here that they are advising everyone to not try and cross. Only 6″ of water can sweep you off your feet and the car will be floating too in not much more. A woman had to be rescued last night when she drove into high water. I think you were very lucky that your car wasn’t swept away back then. Hope we can dry out a bit before the next big storm.
Dear Jeanne, we have an early Easter and a Leap Year in 2024.
I am ready to hunker in with a stack of good books until May (well in my dream world anyway – laugh).
