First of all, welcome back to Barbara… I’m SO glad things worked out and she was able to get back on the sofa!
Second, I’m glad Dorothy was able to “return” her comments! *wink* *wink*
I chatted with Sarah (my webmaster) this morning after church, and she has been working on things on the “backside” of my website. Don’t ask me what exactly that means, but things are starting to straighten out… She is still checking on some things… I’ll keep you posted and hope everyone is going to be able to comment when they like.
I had a nice time Saturday, going to Cape Girardeau, Missouri, with my friend, Leann, her daughter, Megan and her best friend Kinzie! Leann was on a mission to find an antique plate she had seen at one of the shops a few weeks ago. SHE FOUND IT. YAY! We ate lunch at a little place called The Social’s Cafe, which was downtown in the antique section. It was nice but we had more places to go, so we didn’t stay long. We hit a few more shops and then it was time to get back. The day was just about as perfect as it could be! I never took one single picture! Oops!
I hope you’ll have some comments when you see what Freida got from me. I’ve been busy!
The buttons are all sewn on her denim jacket… They are 3mm wide and you have to use a very fine needle to sew through the holes! Freida LOVES it and said she knows she’ll wear it with LOTS of different things! (Oh my… how soon they forget…) :o(
I made a bracelet to go with this set. I think it was Joy who said she needed one. I used a piece of trim and did a little bead work on it. It closes with a single snap.
A few ladies thought the dress was a bit too long, so… being the good seamstress, I shortened it about 1″ and it looks nice on her…
… especially to show off her new very faintly sparkled gold thigh highs. They are very subtle but look nice for Fall.
…AND… I attached the strap to Freida’s purse… and got the magnetic way of closing it figured out. Yay on that too.
To wear the purse “crossbody” style, put one arm up and slip it over her head…
…pull it down in place….
…then get her hair out from under it, and straighten her jacket and purse… Sweet, huh?
To take it off, just slip it on down to her feet… it’s much easier this way…
I’m working on the final piece… I think… come back tomorrow to see it!
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
Wow, things are coming along on Frieda’s new outfit!! Those tiny buttons must be a real challenge to sew on.
I love the little bracelet–it seems to pick up the colors in the dress and jacket, plus maybe some other colors, so it should be quite versatile for her. And the subtle sparkle of the gold thigh-highs Really make her shoes look fantastic!! As you know, I’m really not a “brown person”, so brown always looks kind of drab to me, but those gold thigh-highs make a huge difference in how her shoes look!! The purse adds a nice touch, too.
It looks like your Saturday blog was late making it into a lot of mailboxes, as some said they didn’t get it until Sunday morning!! So I’m not the only one who got it late.
Very nice, Jeanne! Freida can wear this to a multitude of places and can wear the jacket with other things too! She looks so cute with the purse worn crossbody, and those tights sure do dress it up, although I can’t really see the sparkle on my monitor very well.
The bracelet is just perfect for this outfit, and gives it added interest. This is really a cute set, and oh yes, shortening it was a good move!
What is the next piece? Some kind of bow or hat or just somethng for her hair? Maybe a printed fabric that has all the colors in her bracelet??
How did you manage to send Saturday’s blog to some on Saturday and some on Sunday?? I guess we will never know! 🙂
Now we’re cooking! Well, not here anymore, but Jeanne has been making a lot of progress. The buttons give the jacket a nice finished look and with her purse/shoes she’s ready to trot. I really like the bracelet with those shorter sleeves, and the skirt length is so much better as well. Now for that hair thingy. I was thinking a floppy black/white dotted hair bow in a larger scale, but any interesting print would work, I think. She needs some special interest there. I really like this set because all of the pieces can be used in different ways like Linda does with her girls. Wish I was that creative.
Glad Jeanne had fun in CG, and I’d love to see a pic of her friend’s new decorative plate some time.
After all of the heat, we’re looking skyward this morning for raindrops. Probably not many, but will be refreshing if they appear. 🙂
Dear Jeanne, the outfit looks very pretty. I think she could wear it to a casual Fall party. I wonder also what you will add. Hmmm.
I am glad you had fun on your outing. It has been a while since I went antiquing so I am about due for an adventure.
I see now that the only choice among the three sign-ins is the envelope. That is fine because that is what I use. (Oh, I just clicked on the envelope and the other two items appeared.)
Dear Sofa Sisters, you can always check Jeanne’s site to see if there is a new post. That’s what I do. I check it every afternoon. I didn’t sign up for an email notice. I just check the site. I hope this helps.
Happy Indigenous Peoples’ Day, America!
What progress! The buttons really make the jacket for me, and I’m also glad the dress is shortened. The bracelet is cute but white seems out of place, however like the jacket very versatile for other outfits. A little sparkle like in the stockings would be a nice addition. Can’t wait to see what you come up with. Have a great day all.
Yay, I’m back just in time to be able to say how much I love this outfit. The trim at the waist turned out great. I love the denim jacket and it sure would go with anything, but maybe not for Freida, but we’ll not mention that to her. It will surely make her sad. I love the shoes and purse.
Our weather here right now is absolutely beautiful. Never got above the low 70s yesterday and the nights are in the 50s. David and Jason went down to fix the mailbox stand at the mobile home park today and hit a gas line. I’m sure that made them happy and sent them back a few hours while the city is fixing it.
I’ve been doing some sewing lately and have some more on the drawing board. Now I just need to set up to take some photos.
I’ve been wanting to mention that there are more L’il Dreamers in the offing. I don’t know how many of my sofa sisters find them irresistible, but I sure do. One that is coming out this month is Nina. She is a beautiful little ballerina. The one coming in December for the holidays is absolutely breathtaking. Her name is Jovi and she is dressed for the holiday season in a lovely Magalie frock. Nina is a special edition of only 100 and Jovi is a special edition of 200. Even if you don’t want to buy them please at least look at Jovi. She is definitely worth a look.
So glad to be back but I have been at least reading the blog in the meantime.
So nice to see your comment. I took one look at Jovi the other day and bingo, hit the buy button. I don’t have any of the L’ll Dreamers, but I think she will fit in nicely with my RR Design your own doll girls. I think they are the same size. But, I’m not sure about their shoes. Barbara, what size shoes do the Lill Dreamers wear and how many do you have now?
Joy, so you found Jovi irresistible too. I have, or will have, all the L’il Dreamers so far. I have Evianna (she is the sister of my Sculpt 2 LD Amelia Dawn), Ashlynn and Alora (they are fraternal twins in my scenario), Nina will be arriving this month and she will be the sister of my Sculpt 1 LD Claire by Geri Uribe, and Jovi, who is an only child, hopefully will arrive in December. If you go to Diana Effner’s website (can’t remember the name offhand), you can buy all their clothes and shoes. I bought the clothes for the first three at the time I bought the dolls but Nina and Jovi only come with the clothes on their backs so I’ve been working diligently to find patterns for L’il Dreamer clothes. There is not much out there in patterns or clothes other than the ones I mentioned. Hopefully that will change soon.
I did receive Saturday’s post on Saturday morning, but wasn’t on to read it until the evening. Busy day of yard and house work and working on additional outdoor winter kitty shelters. Glad you had fun antiquing, Jeanne. haven’t had time to do that since last Christmas even though we have three in town,
Freida’s jacket is perfect now with the buttons. The bracelet is just what this set needed. Love the MJs and purse because I love brown as a autumn color. I enlarged the photo and the subtle sparkle to the thigh highs is really cute.
The only choice now is the envelope.
So happy to see that Barbara is back in her spot on the sofa.
Oooooh, Jeanne. Better and better! 👏
Well we’ll see if this message shows up😉
This outfit is really taking shape. I hope you make this jacket again . It could be your signature piece. It is such a classic and the shoes and purse are so fallish.
I’d really like that jacket for me🤭it is so late but I had to stop by and see what has been happening☺️
WHOO hoo! It worked!
