Hi everyone,
I have been enjoying these visits to everyone’s living rooms, especially when there are dolls on the sofas! I do have to ask Sylvia if her house is done in the Colonial Style… it just kind of looks like it might be to me… maybe she’ll let us know.
Thanks Sylvia for letting us see who is on your sofa and your table… your dolls look beautifully adorned in YOUR dresses, I’m sure! They are just lovely!
This is what Sylvia had to say about her pictures:
It has taken me days to get the light a little bit right, daytime to bright, nighttime to dark. All my American Girls plus a doll my grandmother made me when I was little. Also on the table are Gail Wilson’s dolls. Have a good day! Sylvia from NH
Thanks for being patient everyone till I get back in my sewing room. I have been sorting things kind of one-handed if you please! :o)
Tomorrow I’ll show you what my sister, Cindy, found on her sofa in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania!
See you then,
Blessings, Jeanne
How lovely!! I so enjoyed seeing all your beautiful dolls, and particularly the one your grandmother made (I have two similar ones that my own grandmother made, back in about 1950 or so–she died in 1953). I also loved the Gail Wilson dolls–I have one of hers, myself, which had been an event doll at a UFDC regional conference some years ago. I hadn’t gone to that event, but there were one or maybe two dolls “extra”, and I had the opportunity to buy her! I also have some of Gail’s kits; I really should get them out and make them up. My friend Daria had bought some of the same kits, and we were going to make them up together, but of course we lost her in 2005.
Anyway, thank you very much for sharing your lovely dolls (and home) with us!!
Ron made it to church again today!! Charles (the caregiver) wasn’t able to come this time, but he managed okay with his walker on his own. After lunch, though, he was ready to call it a day. He’s having a lot of pain in his left hip, and I had him to the doctor on Friday. That’s his artificial hip, and they did take some x-rays, just in case something is amiss. Otherwise, he will probably get a shot of cortisone, but it has to be done by a specialist, because of it being the replacement.
It’s always Something!!
I have never been to New Hampshire, but to me, your home fits right in with what I imagine a New Hampshire home would look like, Syliva! Your dolls are so exquisitely dressed, and they look just perfectly attuned to your lovely home! I recognize all of the American Girl dolls, and how nice that you have a doll your grandmother made!
Oh, I know about lighting! I have the most difficult time getting a good picture of some of my dolls! The lighting isn’t always the best, but you do the best you can.
I am not familiar with Gail Wilson dolls, but they certainly add a sweet touch to your table! Thank you for sending your pictures to Jeanne!
I’m looking forward to seeing what is on Cindy’s sofa tomorrow, Jeanne!
Thanks so much Sylvia, for inviting us into your lovely home. Another wonderful tight back sofa as well. 🙂 Your AG’s look especially fetching in their beautiful attire, and your doll, courtesy of your grandmother, is such a special keepsake. The lamp with the hanging angels brings back memories. I have one too. I think ours was converted from oil to electric as I remember. It’s in the attic. I’ll have to find it. The display with the GW dolls is so sweet along with the accompanying littles. Thanks for sharing.
Looks like we’ll be warming up again around here. I’ve enjoyed the more moderate weather recently.
Have a great Labor Day.
Dear Jeanne, I hope you are taking it easy with your hand. Please do.
I am looking forward to seeing what is on a Gettysburg sofa.
Dear Sylvia, I love your photos! The dolly outfits are so pretty. I peeked through the windows. It looks like you have a lovely view. Thanks for sharing.
Sylvia…your dolls are just perfection! Each dress fits so well and love it that they all have pretty hats and bonnets. My favorite is is the soft green one in the middle of the second AG photo. I have a cloth doll made from that pattern your Grandma used too. They have a sweet little face. I’d love to visit and have tea in your pretty living room. Thank you for taking the time to photograph your dolls…it is fun to see how other collectors dress their dolls.
Thanks for passing on the photos Jeanne. So Indy is letting us see something on her sofa? How fun!
The wedding went off perfectly..it was a nice day and the Flower Grandmas all made it down the aisle without stumbling and enjoyed it all. Sent Jeanne pictures..probably too many but she’ll sort them for you 🤔😉
Oh fun. Hope to see the pics soon. 🙂
Hi from NH, My house is an1840 farmhouse with barn, we bought it in 1956, 6 months after we were married. I would send a picture but we are in northern NH and my cellular roaming won’t let me. The doll my grandmother made, I think was done in the fortyI found the book on eBay My grandmother, I think got the pattern from an Ladies Home Companion cause she would not have bought the book! I am Jeanne’s oldest fan as I just turned 88! Have a good holiday! Sylvia
Hi Sylvia,
How lovely pictures. Your sofa is the perfect place for your beautiful dolls. They look well dressed and elegant.
You are very blessed Sylvia, your home evokes a peaceful and serene atmosphere.
Have a nice evening everyone.
88 years young! My aunt just turned 92 yesterday. She lives alone with her Siamese cat and still drives and very well too. 🙂
Your dolls are just beautiful, Sylvia, and so exquisitely dressed. I really like the dresses Felicity, Addy, and Cecile are wearing. The doll your grandmother made is such a keepsake. I’m not familiar with Gail Wilson dolls, but they are ever so sweet, Love the tiny extras of the kitty, sheep, and little girl with the deer. The granny square coverlet is gorgeous and so is the Jacobean style pillow.
I’m curious about the open book. Is it a Tasha Tudor or something else?
Hi everyone,
I received an email from Carol Bordeaux…and she asked a few questions of me… I had no answers… does anyone?
Hi Jeanne,
I love the doll pictures. I’m especially intrigued by the tiny girl dolls. I cannot find anything about them. Is the name Gail Watson? I found a Gail Wilson but they weren’t the same dolls. Thank you for any info you might have.
Thanks, Carol
I think they might be Gail Wilson dolls; Gail Wilson does a wide variety of dolls, including cloth (which I have) and molded face ones. Here’s a picture I found that looks somewhat like some of Sylvia’s little dolls: https:// http://www.gailwilsondesigns.com/all_page_content/new_items.html
