How about a little hidden talent from Down Under…

Hi everyone,
I’m using the talents of others to fill in while I’m busy with my hubby.

Today you will see some wonderful pictures from Anne’s daughter, Sam, all the way from New Zealand! She is quite the artist.

These were the first two she did. The first is of her niece and my granddaughter at her graduation, the second is my foster daughter’s grandson on his second birthday.

This is the same little boy in the above photo. His auntie was so impressed with the picture that she asked Sam to do one with the cousins together.

This is Ashley my granddaughter with her dog Gizmo. He had dementia and was blind and deaf but she adored him. He had to be put down so Sam did this for her.

This picture is Jono’s cat pearl when she was a kitten.

This is the last picture that Sam finished yesterday. These are the two cats belonging to the boy Jono and Kai are staying with in OZ. One is black and one marmalade, Pumpkin and Rex. This is Pumpkin and Rex, Rex is the black one and he only has three legs.

Thank you Anne, for such wonderful pictures. I’m sure posting them on my blog doesn’t do them justice. I hope everyone around the globe sees them and thinks they are great!

Blessings, Jeanne

Anne, thank you so much for sharing your photos–and your daughter’s lovely artwork! She is really very talented. I think my favorite is the last one, because in her sketch you can see the details of the black kitty so much better. I also love the one of the two cousins together.

    1. Charlotte, I just read you post from yesterday. I am so sorry about Ron. What a hard thing to decide. God bless you both and you will be in my prayers,

I was waiting for the AT&T repairman yesterday so just left my comment and never got back to checking out everyone else’s, so I checked in this morning. I was so sorry to hear of Ron’s falling again. I was glad to see he was not injured but I know this has put something on your plate that you’d rather not have to deal with. Whatever decision you make will be the best for both of you but you seem to have a wonderful support system both with family, friends, church and your sofa sisters and we are all so supportive of you and Ron.

What a talented daughter you have, Anne! That is something you are born with, can’t really be taught, and Sam certainly “has” it!! Who needs a camera? Drawing people is very difficult and she did a wonderful job! I especially love the one with Ashley and her dog, and then the two cousins together. That first graduation picture is worthy of a frame and place of honor on a wall!
Thank you for sending these, and showing off Sam’s drawing skills! Has she had formal training in art?

Thank you Linda I think she is really good. I agree about the way she showed the black cat. She has always been quite good at art and did take it in high school though that was nearly 40 years ago!. She did a painting for my sister and her husband when we were in UK and they framed it and it is still on the wall. She gave the picture of Livvie (the graduation picture) to my DIL for her birthday and that has been framed too. She doesn’t get her talent for drawing from me! my skills are elsewhere, sewing and cake decorating.

  3. Ann, the drawings are amazing! Thank you so much for sharing. I am visiting my son and my 11 year old daughter loves to draw. I will be showing these to her. Her dad draws beautifully, and his dad did beautiful paintings as a hobby. I love seeing how Simone’s drawings improve.

Jeanne is was great to hear from you yesterday. My prayers keep going up. Thanks for keeping us posted.

  4. Wow! Such talent! Anne, thank you for sharing your daughter’s wonderful drawings! Her art work captures the detail from each picture perfectly. The background buildings in the graduation drawing and the kitty’s fur pattern is impressive. And what a lovely granddaughter! She’s very pretty.
It’s always nice to hear from you all the way from New Zealand on Jeanne’s blog.

Thank you Paula. Ashley is gorgeous, so is Livvie. I love how she does the kitties fur too.

I’m playing catch-up today. So glad George is home and able to be there safely due to your care, Jeanne. Not everyone could manage as well as you do so he could be discharged early. Fortunately the body doesn’t have a memory for the pain it’s endured. It’s just getting through it that’s difficult. Thank you for continuing the blog and keeping us posted on what’s happening.

Anne, that’s a true talent Sam is blessed with. Creativity certainly runs in the family. Wonderful perspective in the graduation picture. And the cats and children! I second every comment above about her ability. I hope she can continue to develop her talent and it will lead to a career in the field.

Thank you for sharing, Anne and Jeanne. Sam certainly has been blessed with the talent of drawing.

Wow oh wow! What talent. Thanks Jeanne and Anne for sharing the amazing artwork. You can see that the art gene is alive and well in Anne’s family. Love seeing Anne’s quilting work and now the wonderful art of her daughter. Love the one of Ashley and Gizmo.
The fog has rolled in, and it is cool this morning. Delightful actually, after all of the heat the last few days.
Hope George is starting to feel more like himself. Take care of yourselves.

I never got back to the blog yesterday and missed your comment about our Evans connection. Do you know where your Evans family was from in Wales?. My grandfather’s mother’s family was from Merthyr Tydfil. They at one time owned the tanneries there. When they came to the U.S. they entrusted a lawyer with selling the property and sending the money to them. He sold it alright and then absconded with the funds. I do have an Ancestry.com kit to do my genealogy. Maybe when I get that done we will find we’re related. My daughter-in-law had a relative that did theirs and she found Dionne. She sent her a picture. It was like looking at twins.

Unfortunately, I haven’t gotten back far enough on my Evans group. They were in The Cheddar area in the early 1800’s, so would be back further in Wales. I also have Welsh ancestry on my other side. I’d have to look up the towns as I’ve forgotten. They were Saunders/Sanders. Haven’t looked at these branches in quite awhile.
Merthyr Tydfil, sounds very familiar in my Saunders group. Sorry about the corrupt lawyer. My group emigrated after a house fire that killed one of their daughters. They started over in PA, your state. 🙂
        I have DNA on Ancestry.

  8. I wanted to thank everyone again for the sweet comments on my Marsaili. I answered everyone so please go back and check 🙂
Oh WOW!!! What talent Sam has. These are all just wonderful. She literally draws as if a photograph was taken, capturing every detail. Just amazing. My favorites would have to be Ashley with Gizmo and the two kitty ones. Add an animal and you have me. 🙂 🙂 Thank you so much for sharing these.

Anne, what wonderful talent Sam has. The talent for drawing is definitely in the genes. I like to create but I’ve never been able to draw. My talents lie in other areas. But my mother could draw and used to draw paper dolls for us. My youngest sister is a very talented artist but can’t seem to decide what to do with it. It’s sad because some of the things she draws would make wonderful pictures for needle arts. I told her once she should have her designs digitized for machine embroidery. My other sister and I would be glad to try out her designs for her since both Beth and I love doing needlecrafts.

I was derelict in keeping up with the blog yesterday and still have to go back and finish reading. I spent the afternoon trying to get the hang of making doll swimsuits for 13″ dolls of which I have many. I think I’ve got it now, but for a while I was thinking that the splash party photo shoot would be photos of the girls skinny dipping.

Thank you Barbara, She didn’t get her talent for drawing from me, however I do have a cousin who used to do the most amazing drawings when she was 13 but never went on with it as far as I know. She has Dementia now and is in a rest home sadly.

Dear Sam, you have incredible talent. What is more, I can see the joy you feel when you are creating your work. This joy radiates to the audience who then feels joyful also. Thank you so much for sharing your artistry with us.

Thank you everyone, I gave the computer to Sam to see all the lovely comments. She has had problems with self belief and doesn’t always believe me, after all, I am Mum and I have to say nice things. It is good for her to hear what other people think of her work.

Dear Jeanne, sending good wishes and blessings to your home. Thanks for showing us this wonderful artwork by the very talented Sam.
