HI everyone,
Can you believe it’s the last day of August? 2023 is moving along at break-neck speed, it seems like!
I so enjoyed reading all the comments about Linda, in Minnesota, and her dolls and accessories. It’s fun to see what triggers memories in all of you! Plus we learn new things too! I had no idea Dick and Jane books weren’t read by EVERYONE! I still have 2 of the books! :o)
Today we are traveling to California, to Susette’s house and you’ll see her dolls! She’ll tell you about each picture… I think Susette’s dolls are much too active to stay on the couch… they are everywhere! :o)
Here are a few of my dolls I dare not count them. Iām afraid I fell hard for the RRFF dolls. Iāll send another email with more emphasis on AG dolls another time. Thanks, Jeanne, for letting us share. Looking forward to seeing other followersā dolls.
This is Frieda, a doll I thought was German based on her name but turned out to be Hawaiian and my youngest son was born there. I actually acquired the dress first and finally found Frieda in Canada and sponsored her. Also finally found a ukulele thatās the right size. Itās a refrigerator magnet!
You may have seen the music recital before with Hannah and Bella Rock Star. (Susette, this is one of my all time favorite pictures of dolls! I just love it!)
Hereās Ten Ping in the middle wearing a kimono that I made with her sisters, one with the replacement left hand after Max, a beautiful Golden Doodle, got ahold of her. They are deciding if they like the new kimono. They are on the top of the painted Chinese TV cabinet.
Hereās Kit pretending to be Marilyn Monroe for Academy Award Night.
Rose with her AG writing desk and her puppy.
Since there is no Other Person living here, the dolls are allowed to be on the staircase. I especially like the AG furniture and will share more another time.
Thank you Susette…that was wonderful!
Blessings, Jeanne
Looks like I’m first today, unless Charlotte is writing now!
What a beautiful array of dolls, Susette, and how beautifully they are displayed!
Freida looks amazing in her Hawaiian gown, and that little ukelele is just perfect for her!
Hannah and Bella look so talented and beautifully dressed as they perform on the American Girl instruments!
Your talents in sewing shine through with at beautiful kimono for Ten Ping!
What? that’s NOT Marilyn Monroe?? Kit sure fooled me!
Rose is beautfully attired, and the American Girl desk works perfectly for her, and all l those beautiful dolls gracing your stairs! What a lucky group they are to live there with you! I see Kirsten with her trunkload of goodies at the bottom of the step and my goodness, Rose is quite the daredevil!
Thank you for sharing!
Yes, Charlotte was writing right along with you, so Iāll declare it a tie. Thank you for the kind compliments. Your contributions have been an inspiration to me for, lo, these many years. You share dresses and items I never knew existed that I then think I canāt live without. Silly woman that I am.
I think the expression āThe difference between men and boys is the cost of their toysā can easily apply to women as well! Thanks again for sharing.
What lovely dolls you have, Susette!! Yes, Frieda makes a lovely Hawaiian girl, doesn’t she? Now my Frieda thinks She needs a Hawaiian dress, too!!
I do remember the recital picture–so cute! And Ten Ping’s new kimono is lovely; I hope her sisters thought so, too! “Marilyn” looks quite glamorous, and that writing desk is perfect for Rose!!
Love the dolls on the stairs, too–years ago, our oldest doll club member (she was about 90 when we finally disbanded) used to keep dolls on her stairs, too–even when her husband was still alive! Their little dog never bothered the dolls. I see you have Kirsten and her trunk, too–I do, also, as well as her table and chairs. I have them put away at the moment; I should get them out and take some pictures one of these days. Just too much to do around here, and now “visit Ron” ison the list, also!!
Iām glad you have Frieda too. I was visiting my grandchildren and wasnāt used to keeping things up from their dog, so it was my fault. I guess she looked especially delicious as he never bothered Riyaās dolls.
I always enjoy your comments and the information you share. Iām glad you have Kirsten and her furniture too. You do have a lot going on right now. Iām sure part of why Ron is settling in nicely is that you are close by and able to visit often. Thank you for sharing your dolls and helpful information with all of us.
Thank you, Susette! š
Thanks for sharing your beautiful dolls, Susette! That is so neat you have Kirsten and her trunk. Kit made the baby smile and she hasn’t been feeling very well. I think you did a great job on the Kimono. š
Suzette you have such beautiful dolls and their clothes are awesome. Your sewing skills amaze me.The Recital picture is my fav too. Posing them must have taken forever. You got it just right! The dolls on the stairway are a hoot. II have a pic of my Dads grade school class all on a stairway just like that! Thanks for sharing.
Well it is rehearsal tonight for the wedding tomorrow. Yesterday was flower day. Four of us did 3 church bouquets, three Flower Grandma bouquets,20 table centerpieces, 4 bridesmaids bouquets, 8 BoutonniĆØres and the brides bouquet!
Youāre kidding on the flowers? Yikes! Congratulations to all of you. Good thing it was done a couple of days ahead. Have a great time!
I remember you did a fine job rehabbing my Mary Hoyer doll I received as a child. Iāll share her again sometime. I canāt take credit for Friedaās dress but did enjoy sewing for dolls. Credit finding and following Jeanne Marie for that ā¤ļø! Iāll send along Kitās school dress next time.
I hope your little one is feeling better. Nice to have a doll be responsible for a smile. Thank you for your comment and for the wonderful pictures of the girls.
My reply slipped a cog and is below my Reply to Kathie. š„°
Thank you so much for sharing your photos. I adore Friedaās dress, the style and colors are perfect for her.
I was so impressed by the dress and couldnāt imagine it on any other RRFF doll. Thank you š©āš¦°!
Oh Susette, Frieda, makes a wonderful Hawaiian girl. I love that dress and have actually been looking for the pattern as I saw another dress somewhere. š Ten’s kimono is perfect for her. Good job! The recital, Marilyn aka Kit, and sweet Rose with her adorable pup are great photos as well. What a perfectly wonderful place to display your Ruby Reds and AGs. I would love to be able to see mine so tastefully showcased. Thanks Susette, and Jeanne for sharing today.
Thank you for your kind comments. We sure have fun sharing our collections. Yours is wonderful! Canāt believe you sew all those wonderful creations. And your swimming pool a while back. Love seeing your pictures.
These are wonderful. I look at each picture and think, “This one is the best.”
Thank you, Marilyn. And thank you for being our librarian and researcher. You always come through with answers to difficult and sometimes obscure questions. Ha, ha š
LOved seeing the dolls, finally back on the computer after a over 24 hours of power outage thanks to Idalia. We had some rain, strong winds, and have a lot of mess in the yards. We have a generator and our subdivision has generators on the wells so we had water. It will take days to clean up the yards, and a guy is coming tomorrow to work on the missing shingles on the house. We are blessed compared to all those folks with the water surge and stronger winds.
So glad you are safe and thought ahead to have the generator. Thanks for checking in and letting us know.
Thank you, Susette!
Hope you can get those shingles back on the house. So glad you are safe.
Thank you, Joy. Still lots to be done, we will still be cleaning up the yard for days.
Dear Jeanne, thanks for sharing Susette’s photos.
Susette, I am so enjoying your episode of Stories From The Sofa (and everywhere else)! I love that you have a little story that goes along with each photo. That just draws us a bit deeper into the action.
I love your “line up” of dolls on the stairs. It’s kind of like a vertical runway. I can envision each doll walking down to the landing, twirling around and modeling her outfit.
Thank you for the thoughtful comments. I hadnāt thought of it as a runway but now I will. I certainly enjoy your pictures, stories and comments as well. This is a lovely hobby!
Susette, I love the picture of Hawaiian Freida. Her dress is amazing. I have a Freida but renamed her Naomi Ruth. Never thought of her being Hawaiian but she looks like my aunt. I can’t believe I never thought to ask my aunt and now it’s too late but I’m pretty sure my aunt and her sister were of Hawaiian descent. Their mom would have been a war bride. I asked my mother once but she didn’t seem to be interested. Both my aunt and her sister looked like beautiful Hawaiian girls and when my aunt was little they called her Kicki. Sure seems like keiki (Hawaiian for child) to me.
I remember the recital picture. It’s what prompted me to check out eBay to find an AG baby grand for my dolls. I was successful and many of my girls have become extremely proficient at playing the lovely instrument. Ten Ping and her sisters look lovely in their oriental attire and Kit looks ravishing in her Academy Aware ensemble. Rose and her writing desk are lovely. I’m sure writing thank you notes and invitations to tea are enjoyable using such a lovely desk and chair. I do not have a staircase but if I did I know I would love to pose my dolls going up the stairs. How wonderful and you can see them all perfectly.
Kathie, hopefully you will take pictures of all the lovely floral creations you and the other women made. Sounds like it was quite an ambitious project.
I made the cutest dress for my Stevie Pilar (aka Mini Sara) the other day. I will be sending along a picture as soon as I can figure out how to pose her. The pattern was from Kathy Anne Designs and I notice she has another listed now. But Pixie Faire has quite a few clothes patterns for her and Ten Ping.
Iām so glad you found the piano. Itās certainly a favorite here. Itās fun to hear and especially see what others have for their dolls and see their pictures. Iāve found so many things and great tips from following Jeanneās blog. Your contributions are always welcome. They bring us all together from around the country and the world. Thanks.
So wonderful to see your dolls, Susette. My grandmother’s name was Frieda (German) and so I knew RRFF Freida was a different name with which I was unfamiliar. Freida looks lovely in her Hawaiian dress and the ukulele is perfect.
Loved seeing the concert photo again. The kimono is beautiful and you made it so well.
Kit is fantastic as Marilyn Monroe.
Rose works perfectly with Cecile’s parlor desk and Felicity’s items. I have those Felicity sets and they are lovely. I have noticed a lot of the PC small accessories are just the right scale.
The dolls gracing the stairs makes a fabulous display. I especially like that Rose has a place of honor on the newel post.
Kirsten with her trunk of goodies is so sweet. She is my daughter’s first doll and the one that started it all for both of us. Thank you for sharing!
I did read somewhere that Frieda is supposed to be Hawaiian! Surprised me. It sure was a revelation that the American Girl items are such a good fit for RRFF dolls.
Yes, I got hooked when my granddaughter got her first American Girl doll. Sheās way past it now but Iām in second childhood! Just after WWII we did have near as many toys. Molly was my first doll, born the same year I was.
I always enjoy your contributions to the blog and the wonderful pictures. Have fun at your next gathering. Weāll get together on the imaginary sofa.
Susette I really enjoyed seeing all your dolls posed so beautifully. I’m afraid my dolls have had to be packed away there is so little room now Sam and family have moved in, just nowhere to display them.
Sissy, saw the photos on TV last night and hoped no one from the sofa was in the way! Glad you were safe.
Karen I hope baby gets well soon.
Spring seems to be coming at last. Yesterday was 18C and today supposed to be 19C Still very cold at night though. Lots of daffy’s out which always says spring to me. Mine are a bit slower than most they are in full shade all the time but look lovely when they are out, they last longer as well, the sun has a lot of heat in it even at this time of year and the flowers don’t last long when they are in the sun.
Thank you, Anne! We are trying to get a lot of rest.
