A few of you mentioned how sweet Kirsten looked in her dresses in the last slideshow I did… I looked back in my notebook and it has been quite a while since she modeled anything new, so I decided it was “her” turn!
The hardest part was deciding what to make her. I pulled out my vintage hankies and found one and the search began for the perfect fabric to coordinate with it. I found this pretty blue for her skirt and got it finished.
It is hand hemmed and closes in back with a snap.
Now look at it with the hankie apron on top of it. I LOVE how “clear” the print in this hankie is. It’s almost like it’s outlined with a fine tipped black Sharpie. I gathered this delicate hankie up and added a pink tie.
I’ll keep working on this set… but this is all I have done so far…
One more picture… on the 4th, several places around us were setting off fireworks and Reuben was petrified. He’s terrified of thunder, so we knew he was going to try and hide. My hubby and I went outside to see who was setting them off and it looked like this… lots of smoke in the air…
When we came back in, I found Reuben in our bedroom under a chair. He stayed there quite a while… poor little guy.
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
That fabric and the hankie go so well together, Jeanne! Can’t wait to see what’s next!
We had Some fireworks around here last night, but nothing right on our street, and no “big boomers”, thank goodness. My husband has a hard time with fireworks (PTSD), but his hearing has gotten pretty bad of late, so he usually only hears the loudest ones. Poor Reuben apparently still hears them quite well!! Hopefully he finally came out from under the chair and got some much needed snuggles!
I also, love Kirsten in blue, and those darling hankies go so well with her “style” ! Kirsten really gives you a good reason to use them, and they that used to be so common. I have an old, and I do mean old, birthday card that had a hankie for every day of the week inside! I can’t imagine what it would cost to send such a card today, probably it would be considered a package!
I love that crisp, blue skirt, and hope she gets some kind of cute top, maybe eyelet or somewhat sheer, with puffed sleeves. I just think that would be perfect with this, but of course, you probably already know what you are doing! Kirsten will look perfectly charming in whatever you decide!
Fireworks were all around us too, but since we have no pets, it wasn’t scary for Michael and me! LOL I’m sure Reuben is so relieved that the 4th is over, poor guy!
You have a special talent of creating ensembles of fabric to work well together. The apron with the blue skirt is so pretty.
HI Sandra,
I’m sorry, I didn’t see your comment needed to be approved until 11:40 p.m.
Thank you for your kind words about my doll clothing. I DO love mixing and matching fabrics and hankies! :o)
Blessings, Jeanne
Oh, poor Reuben. Sounds like he needs a Thunder Shirt for pups. Lots around here have them for their pets. It does help them feel more secure, but sometimes some meds are also needed. Poor little Winnie next door was given some pretty expensive vet prescribed drugs. Made her very sleepy and not hungry for her breakfast in the morning. A friend also on Jeanne’s blog suggested a basic alternative. Haven’t heard yet if it works for Winnie as I told her guardian about it.
I had a delivery yesterday for a cute dolly vanity that I purchased. It was supposed to come USPS, but only the mail arrived. Good thing as other person quickly nabbed it. I figured they would deliver the package later. Completely forgot about it until we arrived back home from an errand. I grabbed the bag with lunch and my drink and with my free hand, picked up the plant I bought to give to my cousin at the family picnic on Sunday. I left the big packed bag for other person. As I walked towards the house and steps, I saw the end of a package on the porch. The darned thing looked just like a doll box. Oh no. I’ll get flack from the right behind me, other person. So, I tried a new maneuver. I kicked the box to the left instead of right under the bench so that it was sort of hidden by a plant and railing. With both hands full, I stepped sort of in front of the box while other person came up the steps and unlocked the door. The plant I was carrying sort of helped as well. Anyway, we both went inside. He didn’t see the box. Then, hungry for lunch, other person trailed off to wash his hands, and I, fast as a fox, went back outside to the porch, retrieved the box, went back inside, closed the door, and in seconds traipsed across the house and deposited the box in the secret location, and returned to the kitchen all before other person returned. It was a very lucky day. 🙂
Foggy this morning, but looks like it is going to heat up a bit soon. Not as hot as the last 100 degree day though.
Dear Joy, another success caper! I think the CIA would recruit in a second. Keep the adventures coming.
Dear Jeanne, I love the color of the skirt and the apron looks so pretty with it.
Poor little Reuben. I hope he didn’t have to hide for too long.
The outdoor photo is both ethereal and eerie. I love it.
Joy you have developed a “ package dance” making up clever maneuvers needed to move or hide packages. This one sounds interesting.😉
Nice beginning to the next dress Jeanne. It is starting out to be a classic. What a great shade of blue.
Maybe someone could invent a firework training for dogs…to make them think it is something fun…or get a treat when there is a boom…🤔
We ThunderWunder chews for our dogs, it really helps. They bark at the very loud ones still, but don’t react nearly as much as they would without. What’s awful here is that the neighbors shoot them off right in front of our house, because we’re at right the end of the cul-de-sac. :/
