Hi everyone,
I wish I could tell you my sisters and I did something super exciting and fun today, and while we did have fun, it really wasn’t anything blog worthy…
We did go to a few new places, but it might not be for everyone. One place was called Retro Discount City…they have lots of bins spread out in this big building and all kinds of merchandise is placed in the bins…everything imaginable… like phone cases, childrens puzzles, reading glasses, books, scissors, colored pencils, napkins, gummi bears, makeup brushes, pillows, activity books, and tons more. Everything in the bins is .99 cents.
People are just moving around the long tables looking for something they can’t live without.
Then they had some clothes bins and the coats were $9.99…and Cindy, Deb and I all got the same green coat. That was kind of fun…
We each found a few treasures for the kids in our lives and a few things for ourselves, but like I said, it might not be for everyone!
Then we moved onto some thrift shops and antique stores and had fun there too.
Deb has been trying to get her patio area fixed up, but the rain keeps getting in our way. I think it’s supposed to rain tomorrow again!
I had asked Ingrid if that little aqua and pink dress on one of her dolls in the front was one I had made, and sure enough… it was. She sent me another picture of her Boneka doll in it and one of her Heartstrings dolls in the aqua and cream set I had made and shown on Ten Ping. Since this is a blog about sewing for dolls, here is today’s contribution!
I don’t know what we will do tomorrow, but I’m sure we’ll find something…
Well, everyone has gone to bed, so I better get to bed too…
See you tomorrow
Blessings, Jeanne
Boy, that Retro Discount City does have a little bit of everything, don’t they? I don’t think we have any place like that in the Seattle area–not that I’ve heard of, anyway.
Ingrid, thanks for another picture! Those dresses sure look lovely on your dolls! Fun to see some Jeanne Marie originals on their “owners”!!
Not everyday in anyone’s life is blog worthy, Jeanne, but you sure do a good job of making sure we have something to look at everyday!
Ingrid, that little doll in the blue dress is what captured me yesterday, and here I see her close up, and along with other other dress Jeanne made. Both are darling, and you are lucky to have them, and the they go with!
Cloudy and rainy here off and on, but we need this! Things were starting to look like August for awhile, and I haven’t even finished planting my flowers!
Wish we had a Retro Discount City here. Looks like fun. Reminds me a bit of what they used to have at the Goodwill distribution place. Long rolling tables full of stuff and people on both sides ready to pounce as new tables rolled out. Had to watch out for broken glass though. Not for the faint of heart. 🙂
I’d love to see all of the sisters wearing those green coats. What a deal. 🙂
Mother’s Day is Sunday. We’ll be heading to see the grands. School is almost out for them as well and summer lies ahead. Remember the feeling of “schools out?” 🙂
Hopefully I can get my comment on the right day this time not to mention I never finished one yesterday. I commented on Karen’s pictures but it was not the right day so she may have missed my comment. She can go back and read how much I enjoyed her children’s pictures. Then yesterday I got interrupted while I was commenting and never realized I hadn’t finished until I got on the blog today.
I wanted to tell Ingrid how much I loved her doll collection and I recognized her Heartstring doll right off. I have three Heartstring dolls (Grace, Jackie and Eva) and one of the Little Charming dolls (Jade). They starred in my Maypole Dance photo shoot last year. I also have that pretty blue dress but I have it for my Tiny Betsy who Jo Flitton also designed and made clothes for. I really do miss her and her creations. I looked forward to seeing what she created each season. Believe me the Little Charming site has in no way replaced what Jo did. I was disappointed but I totally understand Jo’s need to sell the business to whomever would buy it.
I finally got in my sewing room to do some sewing yesterday. Lately my time in there has been mostly spent tidying up since when I’m not creating I’m still buying stuff to aid my creating and it accumulates on my craft table along with some dolly wearing attire. I used my new interlock/coverlock machine yesterday for the first time in several months and I think it was angry with me for the neglect. If it could go wrong it did and finally it was time to go to supper and I was ready to call it a day. The machine is totally self-sufficient you might say so it is harder to discern what is wrong when it is not stitching right. I figured most of the problem but I think today I’ll just start from scratch. There are so many adjustments for whatever you’re doing so I need to double check that everything is set up correctly.
Thank you for letting me know that you commented, Barbara! I am glad you took time to play with your little sister. I know it means a lot for my younger girls when the older ones are kind to them. I am sure she enjoyed playing with you. Mu favorite Box Car Children’s book is the first one. I love its sense of adventure and Benny finding the cup and using it. It was like playing out in the grove in our fort when we were kids. So much fun! I also liked the Bobbsey Twin books when I was in about 4th grade. Have a great weekend!
Karen,
My favorite Boxcar Children’s book was book 2. We used to pretend we were the Boxcar Children!
Blessings, Jeanne
Dear Jeanne, sister time is always fun to read about no matter what you do! Thanks for sharing with us. I echo Joy. I would love to see the coats.
Ingrid’s girls are even lovelier close up. I love the Boneka with her pretty blue eyes.
