OH MY! Just look at ALL the DOLLS!!!!!!!

I worked at the Food Pantry today and when I got home I had other things to do… so now it’s 10:10 p.m. and I’m trying to decide what to write about that you might enjoy. I ran across this picture, and said to myself… “That’s IT!” You don’t need anything else.

This is a Doll Collection in Lebanon Tennessee that I saw on Facebook Marketplace… AND my hubby’s brother lives in that town… He might even know the lady who had all these dolls!!!

I decided for this Saturday, to just show this picture and let you scrutinize it to see what dolls you recognize and maybe think about what it’s all worth. I’m sure some daughter inherited her mom’s collection of dolls and isn’t a dolly lover, so they are going to be sold to the highest bidder! Poor babies… Maybe you have a thought about HOW THIS HAPPENED… It wasn’t something that happened overnight!
Oh well, enjoy…

If you click the picture, it will enlarge…then you can really see them all!

Have a wonderful weekend!
See you Monday,
Blessings, Jeanne

Oh, my goodness, that is a Lot of dolls! (Of course, if you took all mine out of the boxes in the basement….well, let’s not go there right now!! šŸ˜‚)

I am thinking that the large black doll in the burgundy/gold outfit off to the right might be a Fayzah Spanos doll, and kind of hiding behind the large bride doll’s gown, I think I see some Shirley Temple curls (also off to the right). Under the window, I see at least one Cabbage Patch Kid (red hair, back row), and three dolls to the left of it, with yellow hair, might be another one. Just to the right of the “aisle”, and below the right side of the window, is a pink basket or bassinet, and one of the baby dolls could be a Baby Tenderlove or a Baby Brother TL–my son had the boy version, and that face looks familiar.

It surprises me how many large dolls this lady had, and all different kinds!! Would like to get another view of some of them–it’s hard to tell what dolls are on the shelves on the right, for instance.

Thanks, everyone, for the anniversary congrats. Ron said he liked the dinner I fixed better than anything he could have gotten at Arnie’s. (Arnie’s is one of My favorites, but not his!)

Congrats, Jeanne–I see that Positively Precious has two bids already!!

Dear Charlotte, I missed your anniversary notice. Congratulations! I am glad that you and your husband had a nice celebration at home.

Charlotte, you must have amazing eyesight. I could not pick out one doll. Maybe I was just overwhelmed by it all.

I too forgot to mention your anniversary but wish you the best for many more. One more and you reach 50. Wow! David and I still have 7 more till we reach that point.

      1. Hi Barbara,
I tried to find a few that I might recognize and “think” I saw a Cabbage Patch or two… but that was all…
        Blessings, Jeanne

    3. HI Charlotte,
I think I missed wishing you and Ron a very Happy Anniversary… so I’m doing it now… Happy Anniversary and many more!!! :o)

Well, it does look like it used to be a guest room. Lots of dollies there. Couldn’t spot any modern dolls, and I’m not a baby doll collector. I suspect it would be a hard sell for some, but then, I don’t collect any of those shown or have any idea
of prices. After looking hard, there may be some smaller doll furniture that would need a closer look. So, Jeanne, are you heading to the sale?
Foggy this morning, but should be great weather for more yard work. šŸ™‚
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

    1. HI Joy,
I didn’t see any modern dolls either…but maybe there were lots of shoes and wigs there… It looks like a lot of her dolls are those porcelain ones. No, I’m not going to the sale… but I think we ARE going on the 100 mile yard sale coming up… not that I’m looking for any more dolls… :o)
      Thanks Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Holy molyā€¦. That is lots of dolls. They are nicely displayed and quite the variety too. Iā€™m sure the owner was an amazing lover of dolls.
Thanks for sending the picture Jeanne.
Off to another Graduation party..some years not any and this year five of themā˜ŗļø

    1. HI Kathie,
When I saw that picture, I just HAD to share it… I hope she’s gotten a taker on them by now… what a group of dolls. I wish she’d have shown more close up pictures and all the front views of them.
      You’re just a Graduation Grandma, aren’t you?
      Blessings, Jeanne

Fascinating collection. I see a couple that could be Gotz dolls. What is most surprising to me is that most seem to be vinyl or “play” dolls. Not much that is porcelain or ceramic.

    1. HI Mary Sue,
You may be right… I thought I saw a Cabbage Patch last night, but now I can’t find it… and I thought there were a lot of porcelain dolls, but they seem to be the ones on the chest over in the left corner. I don’t know if she had them in the room like this or if the person selling them arranged them… whatever…it’s a LOT of dollies in one room.
      Thanks Mary Sue,
      Blessings, Jeanne

Dear Jeanne, thanks for the “dolly feast!” I enjoyed looking and the photo and I confess that there was some “oohing” and “aahing” to be heard (laugh).

I liked the little Black dolls, in colorful outfits, on the self to the right to of the window. I couldn’t see them up close or tell who made them but they looked cute. There was another Black doll (on the right of the photo) in what looks like an African print robe and hat. She is adorable. She might be a Gotz. She looked to be 18 inches tall.

Then there are two little babies in a cradle on the top shelf, over the window, on the left. They are waving as if to say, “hey, don’t forget us!”

Do you know to which auction house these dollies will be given? It would be fun to see them up close (online).

Oh my, it is already May 20. The month is slipping away. Well, we have 11 more days to celebrate. Happy (rest of) May to you and the Sofa Sisters!

    1. Barbara in SE Texas

Dorothy, I keep forgetting to tell you May is my favorite month too. Maybe it’s a Pennsylvania thing. It was the first we could really count on the days being warm even though the evenings were often cool. I remember when we had our school May Day celebration. It was in the evening and when my class did our dance, we had to hand our spring coats to our teacher and then put them back on when we were finished. And we always had some sort of wrap to wear to our Prom which was in May. Plus the flowers are in bloom, especially the Lilacs and what’s not to like about that.

    2. HI Dorothy,
I saw those little Black dolls on that shelf too… all colorful dresses, but they look the same… Was there something like an Aunt Jemima doll? I have no idea, but that’s what I thought of when I spotted them.
I saw the taller Black doll on the right too, and scrutinized her, but just didn’t have enough of a good shot to tell. Maybe I should email the lady and ask for more pictures! *wink* *wink*

It was listed on Facebook Marketplace. I think the lady was just trying to sell them to someone who wanted them.

We were just talking about how fast May is slipping away… It seems like the days are going by in hyperspeed…
Happy rest of May to you too, Dorothy!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Wow, that is a lot of dolls! My first thought on seeing this was what an amazing collection. I see some original Cabbage Patch Kids in there. My next thought was, I’d hate to be the one to clean it. Especially dusting. What an overwhelming chore that would be.

    1. HI Christine,
I can’t imagine someone being in charge of taking care of these dolls. I bet she can’t wait to sell them all… I’ll keep an eye on the post, If I can find it again…
      Too overwhelming for me…
      Thanks Christine,
      Blessings, Jeanne

Late again! Oh my goodness, all those dolls! Looks like the Dolly edition of ā€œHoardersā€! I canā€™t imagine why this woman kept collecting and collecting without any kind of plan! I donā€™t see any American Girl dolls, or really any dolls that I recognize. However, I am not a doll collector and I have just a few compared to all this, so really canā€™t say for sure if there are any dolls in that picture that I am familiar with. Lots of baby dolls there, and I donā€™t collect those. I am partial to little girls dolls, not baby dolls or teen or adult dolls.

I just think there are too many dolls there to really appreciate, but someone else could say I have too many clothes for my dolls, so to each her own. But no, I would never let any collection of mine go that far!

    1. Barbara in SE Texas

The lady apparently had a chronic case of Dolly Fever. I’m not sure there is a treatment or cure for that. I have a mild case of it myself.

      1. Linda in St. Louis

Barbara, I think the way to cure that disease is to cut off the money supply!šŸ˜Š

    2. Hi Linda,
She has enough dolls to give a doll to every girl in (probably) several schools. I bet there are lots of little girls who would love to have one of them… Maybe the seller should open up the doors and advertize… any doll for $5… but then again, that could take weeks and who wants people trapsing in your house every day for a while… silly thought…
That picture inspired me to start a pile of things to sell… I don’t want to be remembered for something like that… eek!
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. Barbara in SE Texas

I enlarged the picture but was still so overwhelmed I couldn’t seem to pick out any doll I recognized. There are a lot of baby dolls and like Joy I’m not into baby dolls. I had a Tiny Tears but mostly I enjoyed playing with my Ginger doll. I liked her clothes better. I can’t imagine having to dispose of this enormous collection but I too would like to know who is doing it so I could maybe see them up close.

Charlotte mentioned her son having the boy version of Baby Tenderlove. Sean had a My Buddy. He had just turned three when he got hm for Christmas. When he opened the package Andrea saw what it was and said “It’s My Buddy”. Sean glared at her and said “No! It’s My Buddy”. My Buddy was his inseparable companion on trips and went along as his car pillow until he was in high school. Skyy has him now but I don’t think they ever really bonded. My Buddy is now 37 years old. Hard to believe.

    1. HI Barbara,
What a nice story about your son and his “My Buddy!” We used to have a GI Joe at home a long time ago.. I can’t remember, but maybe it was my brother, Bobs.. I’ll have to ask him sometime… Poor doll, We used to throw him up on the air and see how he landed… Yikes!
      thanks Barbara,
      Blessings, Jeanne

Oh my, that is a lot of dolls! Really too many to truly enjoy in my opinion. I’ve already decided to cap my PC/AG collection at seven. I have six right now which is already four more than I originally intended.
Actually, there was a doll episode of “Hoarders”. It came up as recommended on You Tube once when I was watching something shared by a doll board member.
The only dolls I could pick out are the Raggedy Ann and or Andy up on the shelf.

    1. HI Laura,
I was weeding out some dolls today from my stash… I think that picture kind of scared me… I don’t have nearly that many dolls, but I never want to get there either…
Seven is a nice number of dolls… Let us know when you find that last one…
      Blessings, Jeanne
