Dolls from Ingrid…

Hi everyone,
We have just gone through a huge storm here in Springfield, Missouri. It was crazy winds and rain and a lightning and thunder storm that kept us watching the skies for quite a while. The Purple Martins we were watching in Deb’s backyard, hopefully are tucked safely into their homes.

In spite of the wet evening we had we are having a really fun time exploring new and fun places…and getting in LOTS of sister time!! I’m not sure when I’m coming home. :o)

I don’t have any sewing projects going on at Deb’s, but when I get home, I’ll get back to it. So today I have some very darling pictures from Ingrid. I love seeing new dolls we haven’t seen before and some we have, and don’t mind seeing them again…

I’ll let Ingrid tell you about them…

It’s been a while since I opened my doll cupboard, I needed a pick me up today and my girls always make me smile. I don’t change my girls’ clothes very often. I’m guessing they are probably wearing the same thing since the last time I shared.

(I have to ask you, Ingrid… did I make that little aqua and pink floral dress in front, on your blonde doll? I have that fabric, that lace and it looks like the same felt flowers done the way I do them and the longer length I sometimes still do on my doll dresses. I don’t know for sure, and you might not either…just curious…)

New in the cupboard well new to me anyways is Popovy Sisters Tawny Owl. She is way back in the corner next to a Kaye Wiggs girl (can’t remember her name, I know she’s not Gracie because she’s sleeping in her box)

One of my new girls I haven’t shared is Hazel from Connie Lowe. She is loving on her old bear. She is lonely for a sister but Connie’s girls are very hard to get these days.

I’ve also enclosed a photo of Tia, a My Meadow girl. She is a chubby toddler, don’t you just love those toes?!

Hugs
Ingrid

Thanks Ingrid! They are all darling!!
I’m so glad you sent some pictures!
Blessings, Jeanne

I hope you have drier and calmer weather for the rest of your visit, Jeanne!! Although I love the sound of a good thunderstorm (you can tell I’m a midwest girl at heart!), I don’t much like the damage it can leave behind.

Thanks for sharing your lovely dolls, Ingrid!! You have a nice variety of them! (And mostly blondes, it seems, where I gravitate to the redheads!) And a nice variety of bears, too. I’m curious about the animal being held in the lap of the little girl sitting in the front of your display. I couldn’t make the picture bigger to see details. Is it an elephant? Or…???

I don’t think I’ve heard of the Popovy Sisters dolls. Something new to learn!!

Yes, Hazel looks lonely; good thing she has her bear to keep her company. And Tia is just as sweet as she can be. (love the toes!!)

Hi Charlotte… thank you for your kind compliments. Because my girls don’t get changed very often, I keep light colored wigs on them for the most part to help avoid color transfer on the vinyl. Same goes for clothing. That is a tiny Elephant, his name is Bo and he was made by Olga Belova, she’s from Russia. Her tiny stuffed animals sell as fast as they are listed in her Etsy shop. (FairyshopB). Sadly her shop has been closed since the war started.
Popovy Sister dolls are not for everyone. I really thought I needed one, but the clothes offered for them is mostly see through Lingerie. Definitely not my taste. The wigs are crazy expensive, I’m talking two hundred plus. And the shoes hard to find and pricey as well. I’ve decided she’s my first and last.
Those little toes are the cutest!

Jeanne, I was just thinking yesterday, while working outside, that it sure was a nice day and how nice that it was bright and sunshiny with low humidity, for you and your sisters to be running around! Ha! Well, it was like that in St. Louis, but now I find that was not the case for you! Storms seem to go south of us and north of us quite frequently, but we do need the rain.

Ingrid, thank you for the nice comments you made about my pictures! You certainly have a darling collection yourself! Who is that small doll with the blue dress in your first picture? She doesn’t look familiar to me, but is so sweet! If your dolls are wearing the same outfits as last time you shared, I do not remember, and they all look freshly dressed and ready for some spring fun!

Glad to hear your hubby is doing well, let it continue!

      Hi Linda,
I am super curious not being farmers how you were blessed to live on 400 acres? How wonderful that would have been. I lived in an apartment until I was a pre-teen and then we moved to a house. Then to a second house when I was 14 that
was on 1 1/2 acres with a stand of woods behind. I thought it was huge!

Well, Laura, my parents bought this land with a small farmhouse when we lived in the suburbs of St. Louis, I was about 7 or so, and we went out there on the weekends. We moved there permanently when I was 12. It was so much fun, since it had a cistern for water, and so many beautiful trails and wooded areas, so it was like going on a vacation every weekend. I guess you might say it was a vacation place. My father wanted to retire when he was old enough and raise cattle, but that never happened. He retired, but eventually they sold part of the land to the state of Missouri and they made it into a Glade that you can hike. It has many endangered plants growing on it. (And to think I picked all those “endangered”flowers when I lived there!) Another part of the land was sold to a lake developer, and my parents then built a lake home on the property. Everything is still there.

How very neat, Linda! I would have wanted to stay there as an adult. It must be beautiful.

Hi Linda, thank you for your kind words, the little red head in the blue dress is a Heartstring doll. She’s a Dianna Effner design for Jo Flitton who owned Jo’s Doll shop specializing in this tiny girl and a few other same size girls. She made the sweetest outfits for them. She retired and sold the right to produce her Heartstring dolls to Miou Ganderson who renamed the 8″ doll little Charming dolls. The Heartstring/Little Charming dolls are about the same size as Jeannes’ Ten Ping.
I was wondering the same thing Laura was… if not a farmer why so much property? Makes complete sense to me now. My dad always talked about wanting a big piece of land. Must be a guy thing!

Please keep safe from the thunderstorms. That would be scary.
So, Springfield, was the starting point of many wagon trains going west. Are there any historical places to visit or museums there? Curious too.
And lucky Ingrid. Your Hazel is such a cutie. Love that sweater too. Here, Stella and Meili are waving. They would love a sister, but like you mentioned, CL dolls are hard to obtain unless one can attend a doll show or win an auction.
Still working on clearing the weeds. Yesterday, I finally got to the concord grapevine and have most of the blackberry removed around it. Now, to get it tied back on to the fence and pull more ever increasing weeds. 🙂
My poor RRFF Rita is well, stuck in LA. Hasn’t moved since her flight from HK days ago. Supposed to be delivered tomorrow, but does not look like that will happen.

      Hi Joy,
Thank you for the compliment. Hazel has on her bear embroidered bear sweater by Tracy Hikins, I’m sure you’ve seen her sets posted on Connies’ Stella Squad Facebook page. Ooh oh I think another doll caper is happening soon. Yikes

  4. Karen from Kentucky

Thanks for your nice comments, Ingrid! I am glad your husband seems to be doing all right. I think you’re close to my mother’s age. She was born in 1955. Your dolls are beautiful! The short one in the front with the blue dress on reminds me of my sister Laura when she was a little girl.

Glad your safe, Jeanne. We used to live north of Springfield and south of Buffalo. Hope the weather is nice today. 🙂

      Hi Karen,
Thank you for your kind words.
I was born October 10th, 1960, not quite old enough to be your Mom but close! lol I think I’d love having your girls as granddaughters’ then I’d finally have some girls around that enjoyed dolls!

  5. Laura in Ohio

Oh, Purple Martins are wonderful to have. My grandparents always had a Martin house in their backyard. My grandfather would lower it in the fall, clean it out and cover it. The martins would return at the same time each spring and when he saw them circling the pole he would run out and raise their house. They would perch on it and ride it up to the top.

Hi Ingrid, so nice to see your lovely dolls again and if they are dressed the same they are certainly ready for the current weather. I see you have quite a few Little Darlings or similar Effner dolls. I can pick them out by their arms/ hand position. Love the redhead in the white dress with pink smocking and also the blonde in the light blue dress with the blue bow in her hair. What doll is the one sitting below her with the little elephant? I also saw your little Steiff bears.
I’m so glad to hear your husband is going so well.

    1. Ingrid B in Western New York

      Hi Laura,
Thank you for your kind words. The girl with the little elephant is a little darling BJD painted by Magalie Dawson of MHD Designs. The one sitting in the back with her hands up near her face is also a little darling BJD but she was painted by Joyce Mathews of Kuwahi Doll Studio. They are both so pretty and really fun to pose. They are resin and heavier than they look.
I love my bears LOL I have collected bears for most of my adult life. They reside in the dolly cupboard and don’t mind sharing space. I think it’s because they enjoy all the cuddles and loving they get from the girls! LOL

Dear Jeanne, storms make me think of poetry. I don’t know why.

I can’t wait to hear more about your adventures.

Thanks for sharing Ingrid’s dolls. As you know, I am partial to the Little Darlings and their sisters.

  7. Ingrid B in Western New York

    Hi Jeanne,
I texted you earlier, so you know you did indeed make that sweet dress… thank you again. Also thank you for starring my girls today. I think I’m in trouble, I heard some of them talking they need new dresses and new shoes. Goodness, I have a cupboard full of fashionistas!
Yikes sounds like you got quite the storm at you sisters’ place. Stay safe and have tons of fun!
