Thanks again, Kathie, for your very pretty yard pictures. It was so nice to look at colorful flowers… we pretty much just have evergreens…. holly bushes, thuja’s, ferns, hostas…
Piece by piece, I am getting Freida’s Sunflower set completed. Since I took away the cowgirl hat, I decided on just a simple headband with a knotted bow tied on one side. I made this super simple to put on… it has a magnetic clasp on the ends of the band, so you just have to reach around the back of her neck and the ends “find” each other. I forgot to take of picture of it, but I’ll show it maybe tomorrow.
I wanted one more piece and decided on a pair of capris in a light blue denim.
I am loving how pretty Freida looks in this golden yellow toned fabric.
So these 2 extra pieces make the total for this set come to NINE Yep, 9 pieces! The top, tiered ruffled skirt, white slip, white eyelet skirt, jeans, capris, headband, sunflower belt, flip flops.
By the time I got finished sewing, it was too dark to take any outside pictures. I’m hoping for a nice day tomorrow!
See you then,
Blessings, Jeanne
This is one fantastic ensemble, Jeanne. TEN pieces?! Hm, I don’t know if I remember seeing the slips (TWO slips? the tulle one and the other one?) Whoever gets this set will have lots of fun mixing and matching.
Wow, this could be a whole summer wardrobe, Jeanne! You have two slips in there? What is the other one, besides the tulle slip? I must have missed it, or maybe you counted the same slip twice! At any rate, this is going to be something a lot of owners of RRFF dolls are going to like!
The capris are perfect with the flip flops, which in my day, were referred to as thongs. What a cute headband, perfect for any kind of hairdo!
I still can’t get over how cute Freida looks in that wig, that hides her eyebrows! She looks a lot sweeter!
Freida looks like she is really enjoying her outfits. The jean capris are so cute with the top. And the headband is perfect for a little accent.
More yard clean up yesterday around here. Really cutting back a lot of old stuff that has been running amuck. Other person would like to concrete the whole yard about now. Not going to happen on my watch. Anyone have success killing crabgrass? We’ve had a lot blow in from a neighbor’s house into our front lawn, and I don’t like it. So far, the two kinds of spray we’ve used haven’t done a thing even though they are for crabgrass. I do not like spraying at all, but we’re desperate.
USPS, says my RRFF Little Sara, is supposed to arrive today. I don’t see how as she didn’t even leave LA until 3:00AM this morning. This has been one of the slowest deliveries ever. Maybe she is arriving by carrier pigeon. After all, she is only 8″. 🙂
This grouping will make a wonderful auction Jeanne. All the pieces and combinations and accessories. The capris are too cute…love the light colored denim with the top.
Thanks for all the nice comments about the flowers. In a month maybe I’ll do an update…I didn’t even take pictures on the other side of the yard. 🤭
Oops…did it again. I thought I was in the right place😳 to post.
Joy…do you have a county extension office nearby? They void ID that variety of crabgrass… maybe it needs a different chemical than the one you have?
Hi Joy, neighbors down the street just graveled their whole backyard and it looks hideous, IMO. Don’t know if it would work for crabgrass, but we never spray because of outdoor kitties and wildlife. For dandelions we mow three times a week while the blooms are heavy. For weeds, I spot treat with a mixture of vinegar, salt, and dish soap. It kills just what it touches and nothing else.
We’re in the middle of a major yard overhaul as well. Had someone come to remove a dead tree and they took out one patch of my ferns on the shade side and the big patch of tiger lilies on the sunny side in the fence corner. They weed eated them thinking they were grass. I could cry!
I got a notice that my Mini Sara is due today too. It said between 12:45 and 2:45 pm and it’s 1:46 now so I am waiting with baited breath, especially since she is so tiny. I’m afraid she might get lost among the bigger packages.
Can’t help you with your crabgrass we have Bahia here. The seeds blow in from the surrounding pastures since Bahia is supposed to be drought resistant grass. It actually grows more when we have less rain so haven’t had much trouble yet this year because we’ve had a good amount of rain. But I think that’s over so we surely will be seeing some crop up. Impossible to get rid of.
Dear Joy, inquiring minds what to know. Did Sara arrive? Was Other Person distracted? Did the concrete truck arrive? Did Superman save the day? (oh wait, I got carried away – laugh)
Freida and that outfit were made to go together. I’m not a fan of capri-length pants, but on Freida and with that top, they are perfect. The whole outfit points out the absolute cuteness of the doll.
Yes, just the type of hairband I had in mind. Somebody’s Ruby Red doll will be all set for a fun vacation.
Obviously, our definition of capris are not the same. We wore capris in high school, and they hit one inch below where your leg bends and were snug to your leg. We called them capris, too. My mom told me that when she wore them in the 1950-60’s they were called pedal pushers. What Freida has on I call cropped pants. Like Marilyn, I don’t care for/wear cropped pants, but on Freida they work really well. With all the pieces she will have what she needs for any activity.
I don’t wear shorts, so I switched to capris several years ago. Unfortunately my legs are so short my capris end up looking like cropped pants and I have no intention of taking the time to hem them, so I still call them capris.
I really like the new headband. This is a wonderful ensemble. All the pieces are great. I love the capris and Freida’s poses while she wears them are so cute. She could take a trip and be prepared for anything with just this ensemble.
Dear Jeanne, I think Freida’s outfit looks very pretty. She will definitely steal the show wherever she goes.
