Last night when I took pictures of Lea in her dress with the pink bows on her shoulders, I thought I had found the perfect solution… at least I knew the ribbon matched. I wanted them to work, and the whole time I was making those bows and setting them in place, I was sure they were going to work. But as looked at my pictures, I knew something was off… however it was after midnight and I “had” to use the pictures. I knew in my heart, someone was going to break the ice and everyone would follow…and that happened. I think everyone knew they didn’t look right, but just didn’t want to say anything…
Don’t feel bad if you spoke up and voiced your opinion… I knew it too… so this afternoon I unstitched the bows and now the dress is “bow-less!” I think just getting the snaps sewn on the back and snapped in place, pulling the back together, made the neck “gap” (as I thought it was), look better and not as big as I had imagined.
I had a busy day with an appointment for my hubby out of town and a visitation in the evening, so there was no time for fussing with the dress, but I do have something to show you…
While Rebecca was here, she helped me get started on organizing all my beads and findings and charms and pendants. It was a total mess with everything crammed into 2 plastic containers. Nothing was organized and it was hard to find what I was looking for… I should have taken a picture of it, but I only have this one of my containers on the table…
If you click on the pictures they will enlarge.
So now, take a look at all my charms and pendants…
This is mostly pearls and memory wire…
I put all my tiny seed beads in these screw together stackables and other beads in small stand up viles…
I found these little holders about the size of tic tac containers and put lots of my beads in them, and then laid them down on their side so I could see the colors at a glance much easier than looking at them through the plastic hazy like lids…
Here are the rest of my things… sometimes the way I put them in was perfect and sometimes I’d rearrange them until I was very happy with how things fit! :o)
When I stack them all up, they are in 3 compartment containers and one larger scrapbook container. I am very happy and VERY organized! Now to make more necklaces and headbands! (Oh, and here’s a tip… BUY YOUR CONTAINERS FROM THE SPORTING GOODS/FISHING SECTION OF THE STORE! THEY ARE MUCH CHEAPER THAN THE ARTS AND CRAFTS SECTION!)
I have been wanting to do this for the LONGEST time… I can check this off my list now!
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
Well, I am glad to see the bows gone, as I just love the dress as it is; since they matched the dress so well, however, perhaps you could either use them for hair bows (just attach clips) or embellish a cape or something with them? Just a thought….
Oh, how lovely all your beads and things look now!! I thought I had quite a few beads, but you have Way more than I do, I’m sure! And they are much better organized than mine, too!! I’m sure that felt good to have that done (until the next time you make jewelry, or need beads to embellish something, anyway!!).
Another one here who is glad the bows at the shoulders are gone! Such a pretty dress as it is now!
What a difference all the reorganizing id to help you find what you need to, Jeanne! Plus things looks so nice and neat! This will save you time for sure!
I really like Jeanne’s version of this pattern with the waves on the skirt. And speaking of patterns, Pixie Faire has a great freebie today. The dress is a very cute one. Maybe Jeanne will make one of these? 🙂
Such a great accumulation of beads, findings, wire, and tools all together and ready for action. I like those round containers with lids so if doing a project, they can be removed and thrown in a carry bag without spilling out of a plastic bag or whatever. Guess I’ll have to check out the fishing department to see what they might have as well. 🙂
Still working on those pesky weeds around here. We’ll be back at them again today. 🙂
I think you must be the Bead Queen👸…📿What a good feeling to have all those beads so organized. Those containers all separated into tiny squares are the best.
Yes, like the dress without the bows but maybe they could be in her hair or on a hat….they were such a great pink.
I had to smile when I read what you said about the Sofa Sisters waiting for one of us to comment on the bows and then others joining in. That is exactly what I felt…I wasn’t sure about them but hated to criticize.🤔
Well after all the weeks of cold and no spring we went right to summer….been in the 80’s all week.🌞 Maybe even getting some rain tonight…there have been wild fires all over Eastern Nebraska.
I too wasn’t over the moon with the bows but missed commenting But when I read all the other comments late last night I realized others had already said what
I thought. I wouldn’t have thought to mention it if you hadn’t, but the sporting goods and hardware areas is where I buy my storage containers. That idea started several years ago when I appropriated one of my husband’s extra containers that he bought for his screws.
Yesterday I missed the blog. Probably because I was stressing over finally getting the results of my tax return. I had no clue what it would look like with capital gains but it turned out better than expected on the federal side. But we also had to pay Kansas Income Tax on the sale. Had we sold property here in Texas we could have kept that amount for other investments. Worst part is we don’t benefit at all from paying Kansas income taxes since we don’t even visit there these days.
The dress is sweet on its own. I really like that pattern. As Joy said, the Pixie Faire KDD pattern today is super cute. That’s the first thing I check in my email on Fridays hoping there’s a free pattern.
Wow, you may not collect AG stuff beyond some dolls in the traditional sense of clothing and accessories, but you make up for it in props, fabric and related items, and now beads and baubles. 🙂 Everything looks neat and organized now. I agree about the fishing section. I bought a tackle box years ago to organize some craft things.
