No, I didn’t make any new dolly shoes today! My hubby was going to get up early and start raking all the gumballs up in our yard before the grass grows up any more… BUT…Rebecca called early this morning to talk to her dad and wish him a happy birthday…(for over an hour) I was talking too! We plan to FINALLY have “Christmas: they are supposed to show up sometime around March 31st. Then my hubby got a phone call from his sister… while he was texting his sister-in-law thanking her for the card she had sent… when Kristoffer came over. He stayed for quite a while and they were discussing a new kitchen faucet he had bought. Of course a visit to the garage was in order.
I had to run to town to get my dress set from last night mailed… plus we needed to get a birthday card off to Karn’s mom… While I was in town, I picked up a few groceries as fast as I could because some friends had asked us to go out to dinner with them to celebrate my hubby’s birthday. We raced around like chickens trying to get to their house by 5:45… went to a steak house and then back to their house for some more visiting… we got home at 9:45…
I was never so glad to see some pictures from Linda in my email! Thanks a million, dear friend! I never even made it into my sewing room today…
I thought I had lost it, but found a picture of Linda and me when she and her sweet husband came to visit my hubby in the hospital in St. Louis. This was 5 years ago, I think… she is as sweet as she looks and very kind. It was so nice to see a friendly face.
Linda is doing the narrating for her pictures…
Jeanne, I will send some pictures of my girls in green for you to share if you have space. This one is the modern group celebrating with a shamrock plant! That’s Emmy, Scarlett and Ivy saying “Top o’ the Mornin’ to you!”
Here we have Ruthie in green; Molly, wearing her Irish Dance costume; Susan in her green sweater and skirt; and Betsy with her green pinafore with bunnies on it, plus her green shoes, which she just HAD to wear! Seems that they found a leprechaun and a pot of gold!
This is Molly’s Irish Party Table. I recently got this pretty punch bowl set and thought it would be a nice thing for a party, featuring green punch and shortbread shamrock cookies! Actually, the punch is just green Kool-aid without sugar! Tastes awful, but looks pretty, so don’t tell the girls!
Celtic Princess Felicity! Of all my dolls, Felicity looks the best in this Carpatina outfit. It looks good with her pretty green eyes and auburn hair, don’t you think?
My last picture shows Cecile and Kirsten in their green outfits, although Kirsten’s could be blue too. I made her apron to dress it up!
Well, that was a wonderfully “green filled” post! Thanks SO much Linda! I am truly grateful you sent these pictures to me!
See everyone tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
You certainly did have a busy day, Jeanne! Glad you and George got to see or at least talk to so many family members, and had a nice dinner out, also!
Linda, thanks once again for sharing your wonderful pictures! I’m pure Swedish, so we don’t “do” St. Patrick’s Day here (although when I was a child, we did St. Lucia day!). It was fun to see your girls dressed so festively! Even Coconut got a hat! Molly’s table looks wonderful–and I wondered what you had done for the punch! Actually, if I’m going to drink Kool-Aid (which I’ve rarely done since our son grew up), I want the lemon-lime flavor; it was always my favorite! (I also–still–love Green Rivers! That’s lime-flavored pop, for those who aren’t familiar with it. Our local pizza place actually serves Green River on tap, and we always order it when we go there.)
You are right, Felicity looks wonderful in that gown!
Ron is settling in. I had a dental cleaning today, and then met friends for dinner. He didn’t want to go, so I brought something home for him. And then I took a nap!!
Jeanne, thr first picture of us, well, let’s say you look great, me, not so much!! But, anyway, thank you for showing my pictures once again! I did have fun finding and putting on all the “green”, and now somebody has seen it, besides my hubby!
Thank you Charlotte, for the compliments! I made sure the Kool-aid did not stain the punch bowl, actually it is slowly dissolving, or my dolls are secretly drinking it overnight! LOL I always did like Lemon-Lime Kool-aid too, and like you, I don’t drink Kool-aid anymore, since my kids are grown up now. I don’t remember what it cost back in the day, but now, a single pack is 39 cents, and that’s without sugar!
Linda, I am so glad for your photos, I had forgotten it was St. Paddy’s day, and we would have gone to the Y without wearing green! I wish I had a green swim suit, but no such luck.
Your dolls and their outfits are amazing. What a lot of work to get that all together. So nice that you have this place to show them, and we can all enjoy them.
Happy St. Paddy’s day!!
Happy St. Paddy’s day to you as well, Sissy! Thank you for your kind words! I guess you live in a different place than St. Louis, because today here, you cannot forget what day it is with parades and celebrations all around! Have a good day at the Y!
☘️☘️HAPPY ST PATRICKS DAY☘️☘️
My Mom was Irish and my Dad German but I always think of myself as Irish because my Mom would talk about Irish things and places and what County her ancestors were from.
Linda I am always amazed at the scenarios you put together. I know how much time it takes and your dolls always look fantastic. We do appreciate it. Yes that outfit on Felicity is the best combination for her coloring. The green Kool aid looked yummy…one of my favorite flavors too🤩 I thought maybe that was a actual table set for a party…the scale is so perfect🥹
Looks like a busy week ahead for you Jeanne. So you will have Christmas around Easter! Why not🐣🎄Glad George had a fun birthday🥳🎂
Hi Kathie! Thank you for the compliments! Your ancestry sounds a lot like my husband’s, German and Irish, but the Irish win out with the last name! (Doyle). I myself am over half German, and have just a wee bit of Irish, but at least it’s something! No big people party here today! Those dolls of mine have quite the life, and put mine to shame with all their activities!
And a very Happy St. Paddy’s Day to all! I’m running late as I had to load the crockpot with vegetables and beef brisket so that our corned beef will be ready for dinner tonight. 🙂
Can’t wait to check out Linda’s delightful photos a bit later. Good job Linda. 🙂
Hope everyone is wearing their green today and watch out for sneaky leprechaun’s. 🙂
Sounds yummy, Joy!
It’s so fun to see all your pictures, Linda! Your dolls look very nice. Who is the smaller doll with the blue dress on in the picture with Felicity? Happy St. Patrick’s day, everyone!!
Thank you, Karen! That small doll next to Felicity, is Felicity’s Fashion Doll, which is a part of her collection. I always have things that belong to them in their little scenes. This particular one also comes with an invitation to the ball at the Governor’s Palace in Williamsburg. She is wearing a replica of Felicity’s Holiday outfit, also known as her Christmas dress.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day to you too, and everyone else!☘️
Here to say thank you Linda for your festive pictures! Green just ushers in spring which hopefully we will see in the near future. Like you Kathie, my mom’s mother was completely Irish and we were reminded with an early morning phone call every St. Patrick’s Day to wear our green. Sadly my dolls do not own any green and I need to fix this!
Jeanne, so glad you finally have a date for your Christmas celebration with Rebecca and Karn. Looking forward to seeing more of Sara’s dress next week.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day to all!
You are welcome, Debbie! Green does happen to be my favorite color, but while the dolls have green clothes, I hardly do! My hubby is all decked out in green today, but I have on a white top, sorry to say! I will say that we had avocado green appliances back in the day! Does that count?☺️
Sounds like George had a wonderful birthday!
🌈🍀🍀🍀🌈 Happy St. Paddy’s Day, everyone!! I get the Irish from both sides (paternal grandmother was full Scottish Irish) so plenty to celebrate! 🌈🍀🍀🍀🌈 I’ve made colcannon (just the potatoes and cabbage) and barmbrack before, Need to see what I can still whip up this year.
How fun! We can always count on you, Linda, to have your dolls properly attired for a holiday with lovely accessories. Everyone looks so pretty! Felicity makes a beautiful Celtic princess and Kirsten’s apron is just lovely. I’m sure they will all enjoy attending Molly’s Irish Tea. The only green outfits my dolls have are Felicity’s Riding Habit and Kirsten’s work dress although I do have Nellie’s Irish dance shoes. They need to have St. Patrick’s outfits with shamrocks one of these years. The kitties have their St. Pat’s toys though. 🙂
All the stores are decked out in green here, a lot of houses including ours put outside decor up, and our three block downtown used to get a green stripe down the road.
Laura, sounds like another one of the sofa sisters has a good Irish dinner coming up! Thank you for your kind words about my dolls! It’s fun to dress them up for the holidays, and I have plenty of green outfits to go around. I thought I was going to put Felicity in her green Riding Habit, but then the Celtic Princess outfit caught my eye, and since it hasn’t been worn lately, if any day is it, this is the one to be a Celtic Princess!
I’m late but Linda, I always enjoy the pictures of your girls celebrating some holiday or special day. Each picture is so much fun to look at. I like how little Betsy is in the pictures with the bigger girls. She’s so cute! The picture of Felicity is just beautiful! Is her outfit from the costumes American Girl puts out?
The picture of you and Jeanne is really nice. Both lovely ladies!
And hope George had a nice birthday! Sounds like he did!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day everyone. I do have a bit of Irish in my DNA!
Paula, you aren’t late at all! There is no special time to comment, and we all have full days, so don’t worry about being late! Thank you for the compliments, and I too, think Betsy is a cutie! She is so fun to dress!
No, Felicity’s dress is not American Girl, but a Carpatina dress. That is another doll company in case you aren’t familiar with it, and they have a lot of international costumes to pick from, at very reasonable prices.
Linda, once again you have pulled off an amazing dolly celebration with all the details. Being nearly 100% Celt (Irish, Scottish and Welsh), I loved Felicity’s picture. She looks perfect for the part. But everyone looks ready for a day of celebration. Will they be going to the parade?
Happy Birthday to George. Today is my sister’s birthday. I will give her a call later. My Christmas tree and village are still up even though I can now get to the storage shelves so I can take them down. But then I got a couple huge “must dos” and it had to wait once again. But I am still enjoying them and they are not in the way.
I’ve been checking in on the blog all week but not participating. I will be sharing why as soon as I come up for air. But I will tell you that last night we had a tremendous rainstorm and for the first time in about two years the drips were all outside my house. Hallelujah!!
Thank you Barbara! It sure would be nice to get the dolls in a parade, but today is very chilly and the wind is no fun. However, there was a big St. Patrick’s parade today here in St.Louis, which is always on THE day, and sponsored by the Ancient Order of Hibernians. I don’t know how people get out of work or school for this but they do.
Isn’t your birthday the day after Christmas? And your sister has hers on St. Pat’s Day! Your family sure did double up on the celebrations!
Wish you would have sent pictures of your Christmas village! Mine stays up all year round. I’m not boxing all that up!
Sorry to be late and “can’t stay long,”, but Jeanne and Linda, thanks for these shares. So happy to see Linda!! The sister who does such serious playing with her kiddos, and boy, do we ever love seeing the pics. Linda, you are just amazing going the extra mile with green punch for the pics. Hats off to you!! Your girls sure do have a blast.
And Joy, I might stop by for some of that dinner; haven’t had a good Irish corned beef dinner since I was a teen. Hubby hates it. One of these days….but I will grab a Rueben from a local sandwich shop that makes super ones on Monday.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day all. 🍀
Thank you, Sally! Yes, I sure do have a blast “playing” with my girls! Who ever thought at my age I would be doing this? I sometimes wonder if I am too old for this, but who cares? I have fun! I remember dropping off some Girl Scout cookies, back when I was a Brownie, to some older lady who had a doll sitting on her couch, and I thought that was pretty silly for an old lady to play with dolls! Let’s just say what goes around comes around!🤣
Finally had time to see Linda’s pics. Loved seeing Emmy, Scarlet, and Ivy and their pups. Great hats everyone. 🙂
Ruthie, Molly, Susan, and Betsy will be doing a jig with all of the leprechaun gold! 🙂
I looked at punchbowl sets awhile back, but didn’t find anything as nice as yours. It is great. And green Kool-aide, who would have thought. The shortbread cookies look delicious. 🙂
Felicity’s Carpatina outfit is lovely. I didn’t know that they made outfits. I’ve been trying to make a Chinese Hanfu from one of their patterns and having a difficult time. The instructions are not like I’m used to. 🙂
Cecile and Kirsten had better keep an eye on their sweet kitties or that special treat may disappear. 🙂
Thanks so much Linda for sharing your great St. Paddy’s Day pics. Loved seeing them. 🙂
Thank you so much, Joy! Just about everything I have is American Girl, with a few exceptions. Yes, Carpatina does make ready-made dresses. That crown on Felicity is from them too.
My punchbowl set is actually a children’s set, and is perfectly sized for the dolls. I thought it “needed” something when it was empty, and the Kool-aid just filled the spot, plus looks so pretty in the picture with clear glass. I will probably be “making” pink punch for their Easter table.
