I know Valentine’s Day for 2023 is long gone, but I’m going to break the rules and show a slide show of some of my past doll dresses. I worked late at the Food Pantry and didn’t get home until it was getting dark. I had to help my hubby with something when I did get home and by then the sun had gone down. I was hoping to get some outside pictures of Frieda’s dress and possibly get it listed, but that didn’t happen.
My hubby told me Kristoffer had been at the house, while I was working at the Panty, but I wondered if he had done anything new to my computer. I sat down and for some reason I decided to look for folders with Valentine’s Day dresses in them… I found a few in one folder specifically labeled Valentine’s Day dress. They mostly were of my little dolls showing dresses all the way back to 2008…
The pictures of some of them look like the girls had gotten into the Coppertone Suntan lotion…and had gone to Orlando for Spring Break… not sure why they turned out so dark, but they are what they are… I hope you’ll enjoy this simple slide show showing some of my past Valentine dresses!

So many pretty dresses to choose from tonight! Well, I love Kirsten’s, of course, but I also think the little red gingham dresses for Bitty Bethany and Wren Pistachio are really darling, also. And I love the little pleated skirt on Riley’s dress!!
That was fun to see all the St. Valentine dresses! The girls enjoyed looking at them, too. Thanks for sharing.
I meant to comment yesterday — The violets outfit turned out beautifully. I thought the lace was perfect for that dress, and her purse and shoes were special. In fact, the shoes were my favorite detail — somehow those shoes were especially becoming.
On AGPT and Dollhouse, the members continue to be concerned about how much longer AG will be around, Today’s slideshow demonstrates that dolls are popular for years and then other dolls become more popular. AG has done very well. I hope they can continue, but today’s slideshow does show us why they need to change and keep changing to keep up with a changing sudience.
Some things don’t change. Whenever I see one of your Kirsten outfits, I think that you really should duplicate it.
Aw, the past Valentine dresses are adorable. So fun to see. I’m fond of all of them. So many exquisite details. 🙂
Thanks for sharing and glad you continue with your work at the FP. So important now and always.
Bad me. Bought another RRFF girl this morning. She should be arriving next month. 🙂
Here I am, late again! I loved seeing your Valentine dresses through the years, Jeanne, and like others have favorites. I love Kirsten’s and the Bitty and Wren’s apron dresses! So pretty and I love those old fashioned hankies that you use!
That last outfit with the pleats is also a winner!
I am in the process of putting away all the Valentine outfits and decorations, but can’t help but think it is still Christmas at your house, Jeanne!
And Barbara, I keep my Dept. 56 villages out all year, so I don’t have to worry about packing them up. I have different scenes in a bookcase that my husband built. It works out well and I can enjoy them all year.
Wonderful fashion show of past Valentine outfits. I love what you did with the buttons on several of the outfits. I have both the fabrics you used in the pleated skirt outfit on Riley but never thought of putting them together.
I’m becoming concerned about the future of AG also and I’ve not been an avid collector. I have two Wellies and have bought several of the accessory items but, when I look back at my doll purchases, I realize my dolly interest did not begin until about 2014 with the Heartstring dolls and Tiny Betsy. Since my daughter was not interested in the PC/AG dolls they never caught on with me. When they closed the Houston store, they sent out an email that said come visit us in our Dallas store. Like that’s right around the corner. I’ve bought several things over the years online because even the Houston store was about an hour away. But mostly I’ve bought things on eBay because the items in the store are so pricey, which is a large downside. Not to mention that you need a whole room turned over to AG to handle them.
Today success can be directly related to “screens”. I see where AG has done a virtual “Museum” where families can play games, meet the characters, etc. Build-A-Bear has added a virtual set-up too. That is the way to sell things these days. I can tell you that my granddaughter loves doing things on her iPad. If AG creates interactive scenarios for screens my granddaughter would become an avid fan. Then when they engage in the digital scenarios, they tend to want the real thing. I’ve seen it happen with other things. My two-year-old grandson watches Coco Melon and he wanted a Coco Melon. He got a Coco Melon pillow for Christmas and sleeps with it every night.
I never had any experience with marketing, but I know what I see today versus what I saw when my children were growing up. Back then the only “virtual” was seeing the toy ads on TV. While that could be a nightmare for some parents, it was a dream come true for toy companies. My grandkids are limited in their screen time, and they still read actual books a lot, so they would read the AG books, but adding ebooks might even appeal to more people. I hate to see AG go away. My daughter was about three when we got a brochure from Pleasant Company, and I still continue to get AG brochures. They’ve been a part of life for so long I can’t imagine them going away.
I loved seeing the earlier Valentine dresses…even more fun on all the different dolls. I don’t remember the very first one… love the embroidered one on the newer Patsy. It must give you warm memories seeing them😍💕
