~ Springtime Promise ~ for Felicity, is now listed on Ebay

Happy Saturday to everyone,
Helen Webb… I picked the name you suggested (Springtime Promise) for this Colonial dress set for Felicity…I wrote the names down on a piece of paper and who submitted it. Then I went over the list several times and it just seemed like the right one to me. So thank you!

I do have LOTS of other names to use now and I’ve added them to my list. :o)

Well, Hallelujah… Felicity’s dress went on Ebay without any problems… Ebay hadn’t changed anything as far as the listings go since the last time I was on there… my software program worked… the scheduling time worked, and now you can see it by clicking the picture at the right side, or you can click HERE.

I was at a thrift store the other day and there were ziploc bags of fabric pieces… some with as much as a yard in them and some with smaller pieces, like 1/4 and 1/3 yard pieces… quite a few fat quarters too… Anyway, they were running about a dollar a yard, so I picked up some of the bags with pieces I liked. I didn’t care for every piece in every bag, but they were taped shut so there wasn’t any picking and choosing… It’s always nice to have smaller prints to use on things like cuffs and collars and pockets…

This is my new lot of fabrics… for almost nothing… I think I’ll donate the pieces I don’t care for back to the thrift shop for someone else to find.

These were my favorites…

Well, that’s it for me today… I worked at the Food Pantry this afternoon and did errands before I went, so I had no time to sew…

Have a wonderful weekend and do something fun!
I’ll see you Monday,
Blessings, Jeanne

Congrats on getting Felicity’s outfit listed on ebay!! I think it should do very well–it’s a gorgeous outfit, and has some pieces (like the pelerine) that a person might also use with other dresses.

What a wonderful lot of fabrics you got, and such a variety! MY favorites are the blue gingham/berries print (although I’m sure the printed gingham would make me tear my hair out if it’s not printed perfectly on grain!), which I can see on Molly, the red with white stars just above it in that 4th picture, the light blue with white/multicolor little flowers on the right under the yellow fabric in the 7th picture, and the rooster print (Molly again?) and the multi-color polka dots that you chose.

Thanks to all for the birthday greetings for Ron; I will pass them along. And I’m glad to hear that I’m not the only one who calls them “scalloped” potatoes!!

Barbara, you do have a lot of celebrating going on!! In our house, we have now–with the arrival of Skyler, NINE family birthdays between 1/13 and 2/9, including Ron’s, mine, and our son’s! And this does not include my cousins, three of whom also have birthdays in this period (one on the 20th and one the 21st)!

Several churches I’ve attended over the years put the dates and names of those celebrating birthdays in the monthly newsletter. It was amazing to me how many family members had birthdays within the same month. My current church just puts the names for that week in the order of service, but I still often see more than one family member listed for the week. In December Jaiden and I often get listed together and in January it’s Dionne and Azure. October is our big month also with our grandson Anderson on the 6th, Sean on the 14th, my nephew on the 27th. My mother’s birthday was the 8th and my grandmother’s the 18th. My sister who has passed was born on March 25 and my grandfather’s birthday was March 26. I had a cousin whose birthday was 12/2, I’m 12/26, Jaiden is 12/31, my niece Lori is 1/1 and another cousin was 1/12 so I guess this time of year has always been a busy one for my family. Animal husbandry always interested me so I tried to apply it to my own family, since we are animals. It always interested me that our family birthdays were primarily in the colder months. Most animals have their young in the spring so they will be hardy by winter. My family seems to favor the colder months which is interesting because we are from areas that endure harsh winters and in the past there was no central heat. But then the cold does not stop the Eskimos from having children during the cold so I guess you just find a way to manage..

Oh, fabric. Love it. So many great tiny prints. I can see some of them that almost look like feed sack prints, made as dresses for the Connie Lowe dolls. All plain outfits without much embellishment in 30’s style. We definitely need some outfits for her Stella and friends around here. 🙂 I also like the idea of photographing fabric as well. I think there are just some fabrics that will show up better than others. Some of those paler tones are well, too pale. I would like that cute berry fabric made into a picnic blanket or tablecloth for the 40’s/50’s group. It would make a great scene. 🙂
Still waiting for my two RRFF dolls from France to escape customs jail. They have been stuck there for four days. Others have their dolls arriving home while mine are languishing in a warehouse in NY. Not a happy camper here. 🙁
It’s still only 31 here this morning. Hope my covered porch plants survived.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone. 🙂

Perfect name for Felicity’s new outfit.

The idea of returning the fabrics you don’t care for is excellent — you keep your shelf space and someone else gets what she wants.

The rooster fabric would make a cute apron for Kit or Molly. The rose one you liked I picked for Felicity, and I really liked the green one next to it. I like the dark blue flower print too. Going back to look again, you have something for every season and era. You could sew for a year with just these fabrics.

You always manage to find the best things, Jeanne! I love that fabric that has squares with fruit and gingham checks along with the dark blue flowered print right below it, I am thinking the print could be a cute high-waisted pinafore over the dark blue material. I made several of those for my daughter in the 70’s. Of course Molly comes to mind too, but it depends on the size of the pattern. There are just so many possibilities there for mixing and matching. I can even see things that would work for Kirsten too, along with RRFF dolls! Many patterns have a prairie look and remind me of Holly Hobby.

Fabric, fabric and more fabric. So much for my eyes to take in. I love most of it and some of it I actually do have. I see so many possibilities, but I see that every time I go into my sewing room. So much fabric so little time. I think I have become a collector of fabric rather than a seamstress. I “attended” several online sales of fat quarters over the holidays. It’s not that I needed more fabric, I just couldn’t resist.

I love the name for Felicity’s outfit. And the outfit is amazing. Can’t wait to see the results of the auction. I know it will go very well.

  6. What a bonus of fabric! I think loving fabric must be in our DNA. You either love it or not. Most of us must have that gene. I just loved seeing all the colors and designs! Maybe a quilter donated all those pieces. Not that you need a new hobby but some easy table runners could sure be made from those that don’t work for your dolls🤭
Everything on the eBay listing looks wonderful…you took such good pictures. Springtime promise is a great name. Good luck on that auction.
    Have a fun Saturday☃️

  7. I feel very honored! Thanks for choosing the name I submitted! I am very envious of all your fabric pieces!
