I did download a doll jeans pattern today and even it wasn’t exactly what I was hoping for… I tweaked it as it was pretty baggy in the legs. I finished them, but I’ll try to get an outfit pulled together for James instead of just showing you bits and pieces of things I’m working on. My hubby likes them and said the other ones looked like “Dollar General” jeans… I’m taking that to mean he didn’t care for them???
Actually my TWO favorite decorators are both my sisters, but Cindy sent some pictures today as we were texting, so TODAY SHE is my favorite decorator! :o)
Cindy texted me and said she was “puttering around” in her house, doing a little decorating! After we chatted back and forth I asked her I could use her pictures. I’ve never seen anyone who can put things together the way she does. She just “does it” without a struggle, or a why… she says she just buys unusual stuff at her mission and finds a place to use it. You are in for a treat as you look at how she keeps her home. It is truly magazine worthy, if you ask me.
If you click on the pictures, they will enlarge.
So this is the way the texting went…
These were her “puttering pictures…” She putters a lot, changing things up all the time, when she gets something new to try!
She said the things she starts with are just kind of Fallish…
Here is a close up of her brass wreath…it’s a German Dresden style…
A few weeks ago at the mission she found this shell tree…
This is a buffet she painted a few years ago. She was “redoing” it and wondered if I liked the pumpkin or the tureen? She’s asking ME? That’s a silly question!
This is her family room…
She said this was an arrangement from 2 years ago..
…from 4 years ago…
… 8 years ago she said this was her favorite pumpkin…
She was playing around last week and this is what it looked like…
… 8 years ago…
…and back to the pumpkin…
She said this was her last hydrangea flower…
She found this painting at her Goodwill last week and was going to take it into her antique booth this week…
Well, did you enjoy that? I hope so! It’s been a long time since I shared anything from her… I personally love her style and only wish I could decorate like her… I think she’d probably tell me, “You don’t have enough junk!” :o)
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
Well, I think the decorating “gene” skipped our entire family because I can’t think of anyone who decorates like Cindy does!! It’s fun to compare pictures, and find things she uses in different ways (like that pumpkin). Thanks for sharing–both Jeanne and Cindy!
Barbara, I had to laugh at your comment about never underestimating the abilities of one’s spouse….As some of you know, my husband is 13 years older than I am, and becoming quite frail. He deals with a number of health issues, so he often cannot do a whole lot. But every once in a while, he surprises me! Even if he can no longer physically DO some of those things, the knowledge is still there. I’m having him teach me about things like turning off the water supply to the outside faucet. Last year, he just did it himself, but couldn’t seem to tell me how; this year, he stood there and had me do it, so I know now (and I wrote it down!!)
HI Charlotte,
I totally agree with you about Cindy’s decorating skills! They are fabulous in my opinion… Her house is filled with LOTS of things from her mission. She just knows what to buy and how to use it in the best possible way! Her house is very homey and so comfortable to visit in.
Not fussy in the least, but pleasing on the eyes! Definitely! :o)
Good idea on having your hubby teach you all the ins and outs about your house. I have been wanting my hubby to do that with me sometime. I guess I better get on it!
Thanks Charlotte,
Blessings, Jeanne
I love seeing how Cindy decorates! Some of her things would work in my own house, like that beautiful gold German Dresden wreath, which is really a show stopper! I love to change things up too, but lately, I have been taking pictures of how I decorate for the holidays, then use those when I am decorating the year after, so i can get it done! Otherwise it takes so long to decide what to put where, and then too, I forget what I have sometimes, so the pictures help with that!
I see a baby grand piano in the family room, but no TV! Really, no TV in there? It is a beautiful room, and I love the ceiling!
That gray dresser buffet piece of furniture looks a lot like my grandparents dresser they used to have. Of course, it was wood colored, but very similar. All in all, I enjoyed seeing the various things Cindy has to decorate with. And the first picture of the chandelier is so different! I’m wondering hoe much time she spends do all this decorating! Exactly, how many hours does she have in a day? I’m sure you are smiling, Cindy! π
Still not getting the blog in my email, Jeanne!
Anne, I am thinking about you as you wait for your surgery. i too, hope you get it sooner than later, especially when you are in pain. I had to wait a year during the pandemic for a knee replacement, and know that is no fun not knowing when it will get fixed!
Hi Linda,
I’m glad you enjoyed seeing Cindy’s goodies. I never get tired of looking at her pictures. That Dresden brass wreath is something isn’t it. She sent me a picture of 2 of them on Ebay… one was $265 and the other was $350… There were some others for lower prices, so you can check them out if you like.
Dylan, her son, did the coffered ceiling…isn’t it pretty! I think they have a TV in there somewhere, but maybe it’s in another room.
She just piddles a little each day I think… and then somedays she does more. She just LOVES decorating… moving this from here and that to there! It comes easy to her and she has LOTS of things to work with…
I’m trying to figure out the emails to everyone… I’m wondering if it’s one of those plugins I’m afraid to update… that might be the cause.. .I’ll wait till I hear from Sarah… If not, I’ll call someone else…
Thanks Linda,
Blessings, Jeanne
Oh, the “Cindy Show!” So wish it was on everyday at 8:00PM. It would have top ratings. I love seeing the subtle additions of Christmas mixed with fall. Everything is just charming, and the addition of lighting here and there make the chosen objects sparkle.
Thanks so much for sharing the pics Jeanne and Cindy. So much to strive for decorating wise around here. π
Can’t wait to see what James might be wearing to attend Thanksgiving dinner. The one sitting here in his underwear is excited. π
HI Joy, I’m right there with you wishing she had a show… showing how she decorates or just inspires us who don’t know how, how to do it.
Is your James not wanting to put on his suit?
Thanks, Joy,
Blessings, Jeanne
Your home looks cozy and inviting, Cindy, a cross between colonial and “The Saltbox” which was my absolutely favorite store here in town, especially at Christmas, until it closed many years ago. I see you’ve already started your Christmas decorating and the subtle touches combined with autumn elements are beautiful. I love your tiny triangular corner cabinet and the Dresden wreath is lovely as well. I also really like the peek of your tin pie safe.
I would love to know where you find your faux pumpkins. They could pass for real and that’s what I’m looking for. Enjoyed all the photos as we haven’t been treated to a home tour in quite a while.
HI Laura,
I wish we all lived close enough to Cindy that we could take a tour of her house…she could tell us all about the things she has collected over the years.
The pumpkins are real…
I’m glad you enjoyed the trip to Pennsylvania! Me too!
Blessings, Jeanne
I love Cindy’s decorating. She is amazing. Everything looks so cozy.
Thank you Barbara,
I’m glad you enjoyed the visit to Cindy’s house. I love her pictures too! So happy she’s my sister! :o)
Blessings, Jeanne
Thank you ladies for the nice compliments! The pumpkins ARE realπ
Thanks Cindy,
We all enjoyed your pictures… and will be waiting for more! I HAS been a while since I showed anything from you… I couldn’t get the “7 years and the 7 1/2 years” pictures to load… don’t know why…
I hope you enjoyed seeing your home on display here! It’s so lovely!
Love you bunches! Me
