American Girl, Rebecca, is ALMOST ready for Caroling…

Today was about trying to get all the pieces ready for taking “Ebay” pictures…

I found a piece of white ribbed fleece and thought it would make a fairly decent looking snow scene.

I found a lamp post at Hobby Lobby for 60% off… and it’s nice, but it was actually too short, so I had to jury-rig something for the base to sit on… I wrapped a decorative bucket I had in black felt and turned it upside down… Then I sat the lamp post on top of it… It’s nice and will work for all my other girls, even better…

The only thing is, it has a button where the light comes on, but you have to PRESS it and it only works if you have your finger on it… So all my pictures where the light is on, were taken with me standing right next to the lamp and my left hand was pressing the button… so all my pictures are a bit crooked. (I just had an “a-ha” moment as I was writing this) I will use one of the clips I use when holding my leather soles together, to press the button down, or even use a clothes pin and then hide the button behind the post. Oh yay… I can do that the next time I’m taking pictures.

I copied some Christmas sheet music from pictures I found on Google… then made them “wallet sized” on my printer. The group is concentrating on 2 songs… Silent Night, and O, Little Town of Bethlehem…

I made a red folder and decorated it with Christmas stickers!

I am trying to figure out a way to have her hold them… in both hands…and think after trying rubber bands, string, loops, I have figured out how to do it… stay tuned for that one!

Hobby Lobby had these tiny little red and black lanterns. The black one seemed to be the best pick…

Joy thought the dress needed a belt, so I cut one on the bias so it would be slightly stretchy and hug her waist better… It ties in the back with a bow.

I experimented with my lights being on, off, with just one on, with just the street light on, and they weren’t great… the one with the lamp only looks like the lamp is on fire!

Anyway, I’m getting there… but had to quit and do some other things… We have to get up at 4:00 in the morning to allow enough time for the hour trip to get my eye surgery…

I’ll be thinking of how to tie all the things together for pictures… Outside pics were not possible… it was rainy and windy today.

I sure hope I can get this pulled together! I really needed a snowy background scene or a street corner with snow falling down in the light.

I’ll see you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

I think we are both up, you for your surgery, me for an appt with an ENT. Praying for a good experience and good results. We have the rain you had yesterday. Good day to curl up with a book.
Rebecca’s outfit is helping me find some Christmas spirit. The props are charming but the dress alone is so pretty, together they make a great scene.
Charlotte, I hope you are able to get out for your checkup this morning and all is well.

Yes, Jeanne, you ARE getting there! The street lamp and caroling booklet are just perfect! I do think that little fence and snowman are a bit TOO little for the scene, though! Maybe a bigger fence would be better? Everything else is perfect and yes, some sort of street corner or snowscene would be just the thing!

Yikes, that one picture where the light looks like it is on fire! It sure does!

I hope you surgery goes well today, you are back home in no time, and George can wait hand and foot on you! Take it easy and rest. We aren’t going anywhere!

Everything looks beautiful! The picture with the street lamp reflecting onto the wall reminds me of clouds in the sky. Good luck with your surgery!

  4. Jeanne,
    Praying for you today.
Wonderful pictures, Rebeca’s dress is really, really cute and the lanterns create a joyful Christmas spirit.
Have a wonderful day all of you.

Oh wow! The scene is just as I pictured. It is wonderful. Love the gas light on fire the best! I’m sure that actually happened way back in time. I think the mini snowman and fence is meant for an elf though. Seems like you might have some fencing around somewhere that would be a bit larger. The “snow” works perfectly and really looks natural. I’d love to know how you were able to take the night photos. So much better than my in the closet experience. 🙂 And the belt perfectly finishes off the dress. It is a delightful outfit.
I’m hoping that Jeanne’s surgery is over, she’s in recovery, and ready to head on home soon.
Keep warm everyone as my porch plants are suffering this morning. It was in the 20’s. Not the California weather to which I’m accustomed. Burr

  6. Yikes…twenties in N California? That makes for a double sweater day Joy🥶

Jeanne this whole ensemble is totally awesome! You brought to life the exact scene many of us were dreaming about. Glad it is all done except for the final pictures. Maybe by now your surgery is over…saying a prayer it goes well and you are home again.

Yep, it was cold this morning. But, we’re on the books to get some rain tonight, so it will warm up. Not a lot of rain, but every drop is gold around here.

I’m still enthralled by the lamp post looking like it’s on fire. How did you do that? It looks so real. Rebecca’s outfit is wonderful, and I can’t wait to see wbat you do to make her hold the music with both hands. When I did my winter photo shoot I used some of the stuff like museums use to hold things to a shelf to make it look like the girls were holding the snowballs for a snowball fight. Worked great and came off the doll’s hands with no problem but I had to throw the snowballs (pom poms) away so it doesn’t work well for anything “soft”.

Well our step-in tub has just arrived and soon the second bath will be complete since the tub was the lynch pin, not to mention it was holding up the installation of the doorframe and door. We were shocked at the cost of those tubs if you had them installed and the maker of most of the tubs will not allow you to diy or hire your own plumber. David searched until he found one that would just sell the tub and leave the rest up to him (Ella’s Bubbles). It was about $7,000 less. David has installed all the water and electrical and it has passed inspection so he should be able to install the tub with, hopefully, little difficulty. And the people at the company have been very helpful because it has been a process.

Neither of us have the “need” just yet for a step-in tub but we decided that as long as we needed to put something in there we might as well go with something that would be an aid to helping us stay healthy and possibly meet future needs. I read a story about a woman who had Parkinson and hadn’t been able to use a tub for a long time. She got a step-in tub and found some of her other health issues were lessened. She said she really hadn’t expected that, she just wanted to be able to relax in the bath again. David also ordered our rowing machine. That’s our Christmas this year. It is so hard to get good exercise here because in the summer it is too hot to do much outside and in the winter we have a lot of rain or it’s really cold and blustery. I used to go to Curves but during COVID our Curves went out of business. My washer and dryer are in the new laundry room now and I’m loving it. I used to have to wear a coat to do laundry in the winter and in the summer I had to try to get the wash completed during the day because in the evening I had to contend with mosquitoes.

Jeanne, hopefully your eye surgery went well. I also hope everyone who had doctors’ appointments was able to get there safely and all is well. David had an appointment today with the doctor here in town that both Jason and I use. David has been seeing his cardiologist in Houston but it’s okay now for him to go to a doctor who is closer. David didn’t like our previous primary care doctor. He stayed with him while he was going through his surgeries because the doctor was familiar with him, but I switched a few years ago because I didn’t like him either. In a small town there are usually not a whole lot of options, but we had one and he turned out to be someone we all like.

A big Yay!, on all of the great home improvements. I think number one would be the inside laundry for me. Ours is in a closet in the family room, but when we enlarged the dining room, the old laundry room had to disappear, so the next best was the family room. 🙂

Dear Jeanne and Sofa Sisters, sorry I have been missing from the sofa. It has just been crazy busy lately.

I did not know about the surgery. I will put Jeanne on my prayer list.

I cannot believe that tomorrow is December 1 and there are only 31 days until the new year!

    I hope everyone is well.
