MORE Ruby Red Fashion Friends dolls to show you… :o)

I had company visiting Tuesday and we must have had lots to catch up on because there was never a lull in the conversations. Gloria, my sweet, sweet, sister in law was here with her son and his wife. We laughed and told stories and ate at their favorite pizza place and then ate dinner out too! I had such a great time with them and enjoyed every minute, but there was no dolly time or sewing time… Well… they did go in my sewing room and I showed them a few things. Sylvia took pictures of my fabrics stacked on the shelves to show a friend. They saw some “surprises” that none of you have seen yet… but you will soon… :o)

Next I wanted to thank Sally for answering all the comments today! I loved reading what everyone wrote and then what Sally wrote back! I know beyond a shadow of a doubt, I have the kindest, most lovely, doll friendly, and good-humored readers anyone could ever hope to have. What nice thoughts you all have shared for me to go to bed on! :o)

SO… I have more pictures from Sally today to show…any objections? I don’t think so… I had 636 hits on my blog yesterday and today there are a few more dolls not seen yesterday… Are you ready for more? Oh, good… me too!

This is what Sally had to say about the dolls in these pictures…

Here are the kids that are ready for Halloween. Are the rest of the kids jealous? Good question. Any complaints will be falling on deaf ears because there are only so many Halloween type outfits; the others realize they have awesome other outfits. Actually, pretty mature for their age.
Back Row, Left to Right: Eira wearing Paula Driscoll; Frieda wearing Maureen (can’t remember last name, on eBay); Anna, also wearing a Maureen creation.
Bottom Row: Stella in Barbara Zuchowski; Elinda, Freya, Luna and Selena, all in RR.

This group, top level are some of my R. John Wright kids.(He makes felt dolls…that’s why they are covered… so they don’t get dusty!) Left to Right: Captain Corey; Edmund; Rachel in her Sunday Best; and Max and his Pinocchio.
Bottom level: (RRFF dolls) Iris; Gabriela; Petunia; Louise; Phanie; and Sweet Victoria, all in their original Ruby Red outfits.

Not as many dolls as yesterday, but some beautiful ones to gaze upon! Oh and don’t forget to click on the pictures so they’ll enlarge. I wouldn’t want you to miss any of the details.

Thank you Sally! They are just LOVELY and I could look at them for a long time! They are so sweet!

AND, this isn’t all… but you’ll have to come back for one more day of Sally’s dolls! Don’t miss them!

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

    Oh, goodie, more pretty dolls!!

Sally, your first group look like they are ready to head out for trick-or-treating!! Such fun. I have been a bad doll mommy because none of my RRFFs and none of my LDs have Halloween outfits!! Now, my American Girls do (except for Kirsten and Felicity, as they didn’t “do” Halloween like the modern–or even more recent (Molly)–girls do. And, come to think of it, my 16″ Julie Good-Kruger girls have Halloween costumes, too.

Now your second group….can’t help but drool over the R. John Wright dolls. Have thought a number of times about possibly getting one, or maybe one of the smaller figures, but they always seemed so pricey to me, and at the time I was admiring them, I wasn’t spending that kind of money on my hobby! Oh, well….

As to the RRFFs in that picture, almost all of them have little purses or bags of some kind! I know that at least some of them came with the dolls; how about Louise’s purse? I think it’s just adorable.

    Thanks again for sharing.

    1. Sally from Colorado

      Hi, Charlotte.
Come to think of it, none of my LDs have anything Halloween. Don’t feel bad. Aside from Debbie’s Rebecca causing angst the other night with wonky legs and tipsy wig, I haven’t heard about too much poor behavior with sofa sisters’ kids. Of course, I fully believe Debbie will overcome and Rebecca will be full of remorse. Tsk-tsk!

Yes, my hubby (yes, hubby!!) fell in love with John’s dolls when John first started out back in Brattleboro in a tiny upstairs apartment. We bought Guido and then went back for Guido’s wife, Lina. We bought directly from John so he would get the full pay, and it was so fun seeing his manufacture there in the apartment. We never saw Susan.

I particularly liked the little children series and the nursery rhyme kids. And of course, The Little Prince. They are beautiful. The only “modern” set I bought was Charlie Chaplin, Jackie Coogan, and Scraps. Love that set. Frankly, I got a good many of them on the secondary market and paid less than they initially were priced. I do keep them in Dolly Dustlecovers.

All RRFF purses/bags are company made and go with the original outfit. Iris is sporting a Maisie fringed bag because she didn’t come with a bag and I saw someone on FB used it with her Iris. It works, especially with the Jean jacket.

Julie Good-Krueger? 16”? I think mine are a bit taller, but they have been boxed since moving out here almost 10 years ago, along with most of my collection of artist dolls except for John’s dolls, of course. I loved the expressions on Julie’s doll faces and great, great outfits. Do you have all your dolls out?

Have some fun today, Charlotte, and thanks for your comments.

  2. Linda in St. Louis

More dolls, Sally? You are THE collector!! My little group pales in comparision to all the wonderful dolls in your collection!

This is funny, but at first, just for a second or two, I thought that your R. John Wright dolls were each standing in oxygen tents! Silly me!

I was a bit puzzled yesterday because I didn’t see any Halloween outfits on your dolls, and I knew you had the two newest RRFF dolls, Luna, and Selena, so here they are! I normally don’t go for jeans outfits, but I absolutely love Stella in her jeans and Halloween sweater and hat! So cute!

I absolutely love Sweet Victoria! To me she is one of the best that RRFF has ever made, and of course, you have her!

I too, love all the little purses! Where did you find them?

All in all, you have a lovely group of dolls, and thank you for sharing!

    I

    1. Sally from Colorado

      Hello, Linda,
Thanks for your compliments. I DO have a lot of dolls, and an enormous number of Rubies. As I mentioned yesterday, I am keenly aware I need to hit the brakes before long.

I laughed at the oxygen tents! Well, these dolls that get these covers are felt, and out here in CO, there is a LOT of dust. Every now and again I need to get out a ladder to take the Wright dolls down and wash down the covers.

As I said to Charlotte, all those purses and bags come with the dolls. Iris’ bag came with one of the Maisies.

I was lucky to get Victoria, indeed. But I set my clocks to be sure of being at the gate on time and I have a tab open, ready to refresh.

I rather hope Jeanne holds off on the doll pictures from the MBR. They are grainy due to poor lighting and I am NOT a photographer!

Thanks again and wishing you a grand day.

  3. Karen from Kentucky

Thank you for sharing all your dolls, Sally! It must be calming to be in the presence of so many dolls. 🙂 Do you have one favorite out of all of them?

    1. Sally from Colorado

      Hello, dear Karen,
You are so right; going into the guest room, especially, to enjoy the dolls just takes weight off my shoulders. I really do not have a favorite. My least favorites have been the Bella’s, but two are in different wigs and Iris came with a wig I like. They are growing on me, but there will not be any others of that skin tone here.
YOU are the lucky lady with what, four or five living dolls?? I would have loved a daughter, but I got my fun teaching all girls in a parochial school. Our three sons are just fine fellows. We are both truly blessed, Karen. Hope all is going smoothly. 🤗

  4. Joy in northern CA

I am so happy to see the Halloween kids. Fun! I too love the sweater/hat by BZ on Stella. What a festive way to celebrate. And seeing Luna and Selena all ready to head out for trick or treating is treat in itself.
The R. John Wright kids are amazing works of art. I’ve never seen any in a collection. They are fabulous. And the front row parade of Ruby Reds, all displaying their RR backpacks and bags are delightful. The matching three here are waving back! 🙂 Can’t wait until tomorrow to see more photos. 🙂
Yesterday, I managed to drag other person to three places trying to find a plastic spider for a project. Nope, no one had any spiders left or spider webs either. So much for last minute surprises. But, we did manage to pick up the new sewer cap. Didn’t get it put on, such an ugly job, but maybe today. Neither of us is looking forward to that. But, after we got home, I found another place that might still have some spiders. We’ll see if I can talk other person into taking another ride today. 🙂

    1. Sally from Colorado

Thanks, Joy. How fun that you, too, have one of those sets Barbara Zuchowski made as well. I think she offered three sets, each with a tiny variation. It makes a nice “modern” sort of costume for an older kid like these dolls.
I hope you get that spider. Small price for OP to pay after getting your help with the sewer lid!
I appreciate your comments. Unless Jeanne is absolutely desperate for something to use tomorrow, I hope she holds off from using the MBR doll pictures. They are grainy and hard to see. I would rather, when it gets closer to Christmas, deck a few more out from that room and take their pics on the dining table to send to her. And after all, “enough is enough.” Time to see some sewing! 🤞😉
      Happy spider acquisition!

  5. Sally I admire your taste in dolls. One cuter than the other and what a good idea to cover the Wright dolls to keep them from getting dusty.
Karen asked if you have a favorite… makes me wonder too. I know I have some favorites but they do seem to change as time goes by.
Thanks for sending the pictures to Jeanne.

    1. Sally from Colorado

      Good morning, Kathie,

Thanks very much for your note of kind remarks. Nope. No favorites here, really. They all make me smile and allow me to drop some burdens for a bit when I spend some time with them.

The plastic covers really help keep the color on the wool of those dolls because they aren’t becoming laden with CO dust. It’s too bad Dolly Dustless covers are no longer made. Fortunately, I can find them occasionally on eBay, and I have many from my other dolls, still packed, from when I could display ALL my dolls and set up fun scenes back in our NH house. Needless to say, I miss that house in the White Mountain National Forest on the Mad River.

Hope your day is absolutely dandy, Kathie! ☺️ Thanks again.

    1. Sally from Colorado

My pleasure, dear Brenda. There are just two of us in this house and only one appreciates so:many dolls. I imagine you could guess correctly! 😆 Thanks very much.

  6. Debbie in North Carolina

Sally, I am so happy to see more of your collection today! We are hosting a thank you meal for our neighbors that shared their remodeling subs with us. As soon as the dishes are done I plan on spending some more time with your dolls. 🤗

Tomorrow I will let Rebecca know who is boss and get some clothing on that young lady!

    1. Sally from Colorado

      Hi, Debbie,

What a super idea to have that thank you meal. You are my kind of gal, although you are probably much more gracious and open to having overnight guests at your house than I am. I used to love it. Now, I like peace and quiet in my home. A few couples to dinner, great. Overnighters? Horrors!

Well, you may be having the problem with your Rebecca that I had with Lisa when I took her out of her box. I was horrified that I appeared her arms and legs were on backwards! I think I sent some pics to Joy with an SOS, and she got ME straightened around so I could get Lisa straightened around!

As for those wigs. Dress the doll, put her in her stand, if you use them, and then put the wig on again. Wigs are wonderful things, but they can arouse much gnashing of teeth sometimes! Good luck! 🍀🍀😉

  7. Hi Sally, how delightful to see more of your beautiful dolls. You certainly do have quite the collection and I’m sure you enjoy them very much.
The R. John Wright dolls are charming. There’s a sweet little shop in the next town about 30 minutes away that we go each Christmastime. They decorate their small downtown as we do ours, so combined it’s like one larger display to see. They sell his dolls as well as other collectibles (those Wee Foerst Folk), so I have seen his dolls up close, and they are lovely.
Victoria is so cute. Did you manage to snag Sweet Victoria as well? Like others, I wonder if you have favorites? I love the eyes that Gabriela (and Northern Lights have), hoping to see those on a dark-haired beauty someday.
Looking forward to day three of your stunning collection. Thank you for brightening this rainy day.

    1. Sally from Colorado

Hello, Laura. I’m so happy that some of these kids added a bright spot to your rainy day. Rain would be lovely out here and in CA as well. Ugh. Maybe tomorrow here.
I do worry that sofa sisters might get “burn out” from so many pictures. The next ones are grainy as those kids are in the MBR that doesn’t have the best lighting for where the doll shelves are. I’m going to write Jeanne to see if she has something for tomorrow and that in the next month, I can dress some of those dolls for the holidays and bring them out to the dining table. It will give all of us a break.
That Christmas display from one town to the next sounds like a kid’s paradise! I would love that, too. Here in Salida, Halloween is the big deal. The decorations blow my wee mind. Then Christmas is more or less a fizzle. It rates a big, fat BOO!
Nope, just this original Victoria, but many of my other dolls have her face, including Gabriela and the upcoming Opaline. She’s a cutie, but to me, they all are.
If you like, I could get your email address from Jeanne and send you a picture of Gabriela in a dark wig. I would be happy to do that.
Thanks for being so very kind, as always, and hope that rain clears up for a lovely day tomorrow! 🤗

  8. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Sally, wow another wonderful dolly display. Your collection is amazing! Thank you for sharing.

I collect Little Darlings, as you know, and Alexanders. I also have a few 18 inch dolls. Only one is an American Girl (Addy).

I look forward to seeing more of your doll children.

    1. Sally from Colorado

      Hello, dear Dorothy,
I appreciate everyone’s kind words. After writing this, I am going to write Jeanne and see if she has something else to use for tomorrow. My other pictures are dark and grainy. If she doesn’t need “filler” for tomorrow, I will, in this next month, dress up some of those dolls not shown yet for the holidays, and bring them out to the dining table for better pictures. And that gives all you dear sofa sisters a break from my collection.
I will include in that bunch a picture of my beloved Cissy from when I was a youngster. She is gorgeous as I took such good care of her. I only wish her ears were pierced, but getting that doll was a big deal expense wise for my parents.
We would love to see pictures of your kids, Dorothy. Thanks again for being YOU! And we want to hear your sewing and microwave stories, please! 🙏😉
