Laura provided some pictures of her fun kitty’s dressed up, but first I have to share my all time favorite costume picture! My dad was stationed in Italy back when I was 4 and 5 years old and this is one of the times we dressed up for Halloween. Cindy was a witch, Bob was a hobo and I was a clown. My mom and dad made our costumes… (but I “clearly think “I” must have done my lipstick!”) Click on the picture to see it close up. You just might have your first laugh of the day!
I didn’t have enough pictures of the hayride, so I didn’t show any today, but hopefully will tomorrow!
AND, don’t forget to send me a funny story about sewing, cooking or crafting… I am going to share those in a post Wednesday… so if you have something you can remember that caused you to laugh, or others to laugh, please send it my way in an email…
Okay, now it’s time for Laura to share some pictures… and what she said about them.
Solo as a prairie girl in her stylish sunbonnet.. Isn’t she beautiful?
Here is Truffle in her “slice of bread”. When kitties lie with their feet tucked under it is called “breadloafing”.
Here is Doyle trying on the bread slice.
My tuxie, Dancer. He was my rescue that took the longest to get, but total lap kitty now.
Helios in front, Ollie in candy corn house, Doyle in sweet treats house and Dancer on side.. I LOVE black cats and gray, Black and white, and brindled brown.
It’s Party time. Just look at all those toys! 😸❤ I hope everyone enjoys it. Happy autumn! Laura
Thank you for the kitty pictures, Laura… You certainly have some cute fur babies!
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
Such cute pictures of you and Cindy and Bob, Jeanne! Yes, it does look like you may have had a hand in your makeup that day!!
Laura, however did you get your kitties to agree to model?! I’ve always heard that cats, for the most part, don’t enjoy that sort of thing. (I’ve never had a cat–due to allergies–so I have no experience with them.) Even their little houses have a Halloween theme! What fun!!
Jeanne, I’m thinking of a story or two, which I will try to get written and sent tonight. One involves my son–I just came in at the end. Hope that’s okay.
Thank you, Charlotte! All my kitties will cooperate with a costume for a few minutes. Truffle, who was an adult rescue from a parking lot is tolerant of anything. She almost forgot she had the bread slice on. I had horrible cat allergies well into adulthood, so we always had dogs only. After we lost our last dog we couldn’t bear the thought of another right then. Solo, the kitty in the sunbonnet, is a Siberian Forest cat and they are totally hypoallergenic. Doyle was my first rescue born to a stray (I rehomed his mother and three siblings). Starting with him as a tiny kitten helped me to completely overcome my allergies. it’s their saliva that you are allergic to when it’s on their fur just as you can be allergic to dogs for the same reason.
Oh my goodness, Jeanne, that clown costume is epic! You look so serious which makes it doubly funny! That lipstick!!! The sepia toned second picture looks like it was taken back in the early part of the century! Just darling!
Oh, Laura, your kitties are just darling! I did have a cat, almost like your tuxedo cat, Dancer, but mine had longer fur, and would sit still for you to dress up. The rest, and that was 4 others, never would allow anythng like that!
You have a cat named Doyle?? Is he named after anyone? Kind of close to my name! 🙂
Thank you for sending in those darling pictures!
Thank you, Linda! All my kitties will allow a costume for a few minutes. I used to dress my Yorkie up as a child. She was the best dressed dog with doll dresses and hats before those ever became “a thing”. Yes, Doyle is named for the sweet character in a British detective show my daughter was watching when he and siblings were found with their mother under out backyard pine tree.
So glad you enjoyed my pictures.
Dear Jeanne, you and your siblings are adorable. I bet you three won “best dressed” among all of the children (smile).
Laura’s kitties are very good about being dressed. They seem to enjoy Halloween (laugh).
Like Charlotte, I have no experience with cats, or pets actually. When I go to my friend Lauren’s house, I get to visit with her cat who always seems to be hungry. He puts on a show (meowing) and acts as if he hasn’t been fed for days. He’s quite entertaining. At the end, he generally gets a treat.
Thank you, Dorothy! My Ollie is like that. He will sit up pretty and do a high five for a treat.
Love love the picture of Dancer! What a pretty kitty… looks like one we had at our farm 😉 Thanks for the entertainment. Your Halloween pic is so cute! Those were the kind of costumes I remember too.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE🎃🧙♀️
Thank you so much, Kathie! Dancer appreciates the compliment.
Thanks Laura and Jeanne for sharing the kitty Halloween party. Even treats for the kitties. I think that pic of Solo with the bonnet is my favorite. Perfect Little House rendition. 🙂
I finally finished the tiny witch costume for Meadow Nunnu, but my photos were blah. I was in the closet in the dark trying for a spooky light effect, and turned off the flash, but nothing worked and everything was blurry. Only pics with the flash were viewable, sort of. Maybe I’ll try again next year.
Surprise for me, now that package I’ve been tracking appears to have three dolls and not one as I thought. So, it looks like Dorothy, Charlotte, and George, are arriving on Wednesday, even though they are only an hour away today. This will be a larger than usual box. Never going to be able to hide this one. 🙂
Have a spooky Halloween everyone! 🙂
Joy, no doubt the box will be bigger and harder to casually receive … unless you can pretend a friend sent a gift to you to hide for them? Like: “ oh that’s the box Jane said would be coming to our house. It’s her husband’s Christmas gift. I better let her know it arrived.” 😳
I think the Charlotte that’s coming to your house is one of the RRFF’s I wish I had gotten. Lucky you!
Dear Joy, oh my goodness you are going to have a Dorothy doll! I have a Little Darling doll named after our Charlotte so now there will be two Charlottes in the Sofa Sister dolly family.
As for the box, tell Other Person that you got a text from Santa saying that he is sending an early Christmas gift because you have been so nice (smile).
Thank you, Joy! Yep, they have treat shaped catnip toys and they will get salmon and chicken tonight.
Can’t wait to hear if/ how you pull off this dolly caper.
Jeanne, those pictures of you, Cindy and Bob are so precious! It’s a whole other part of your life when none of us knew you, The pictures are treasures. Love the lipstick! Too funny.
When I was little, about 4, I put lipstick on my favorite doll’s mouth- it looked about like your lipstick in that picture.. After she was rescued by my mother, and the lipstick removed, it left a stain covering her whole mouth area forever!
Laura, love the kittie pictures. They are certainly enjoying Halloween! They even have the candy corn and candy print houses to play in with all they’re toys!
The bread is the perfect wear with that breadloafing meaning but I’ve never heard of that. Interesting. Is that a real description? Of course they do “knead.” The picture of Ollie in the candy corn house with the black kitty doll is too cute and Solo in her bonnet ready to play Little House on the Prairie. All the kitties are adorable and it’s certainly obvious they are well loved as they should be!
Thank you both for the enjoyable pictures!
Thank you, Paula! Yes, breadloafing is the real description so when I saw that bread slice costume it had to came here. Yes, kneading is something everyone does, either on me or soft blankets.
Maybe we should watch a Halloween episode of LHOTP tonight.
I’m so glad you enjoyed the pictures.
Your Halloween picture is so funny, Jeanne. I’ve seen it before, but it’s funny every time. I’m glad you’ve improved in the lipstick applying. LOL
